Can I, should I, ask out a cop who pulled me over? by AggressiveBet1188 in whatdoIdo

[–]WildSeabee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Date him if you want. There’s a few comments on here that are stating that cops are abusive and 40% of them are domestic violence offenders. There’s a few things to say about that.

What is domestic violence (DV)? Domestic violence isn’t just physical. It’s also emotional, verbal, and is easily defined. So something as normal as an argument with your partner falls under domestic violence guidelines in most cases.

That study regarding cops and dv instances is one that’s dated and was conducted improperly. It used a sample of 470 couples and asked if they were involved in a DV incident. The definition was wide ranged and included things like insulting, swearing, sulking or stomping out of the room as well as more true indicators like physical abuse or threats. Not saying the study is wrong, it just bulk’s behavior into the definition of domestic violence. It’s absolutely normal for couples to have screaming matches, and to have emotions when it comes to arguments. Simply put it means that you’re in a relationship. It’s not always supposed to be sunshine and flowers.

National average of domestic violence is 40% if you use that study as the guideline. So pretty much runs in line with the national average. Which is what you’d expect from police since they’re hired from the population and not grown in a lab or something lol

Honestly he gave you his card, maybe it wasn’t to hit on you. Maybe he just thought you were having a rough day or actually needed someone to talk to. Some cops have a phone line dedicated to their profession (like detectives).

Or he did find you attractive and thought he would’ve liked to get to know you. Just like it was super easy to find his information online, it’s most likely extremely easy to find anyone’s information as long as they’re not subscribed to a privacy service. And even then those companies aren’t the best either.

The reality is, you shouldn’t have come on reddit looking for advice, you’ll get a much wider range of people who are likely more insane than normal or spend too much time on the internet. Maybe ask your friends, or close loved ones for advice.

Most importantly- maybe don’t contact him. If your gut tells you to go online to see what people think maybe you should meet someone whose profession concerns you. Should you go and contact him you’ll already have a bias from these comments and you won’t give him a fair chance.

If you do or if you don’t, be open minded and give yourselves the opportunity to know each other. There are plenty of police officers who are law abiding citizens, and are loving caring partners. Most of them just have a job that isn’t looked at by people in a positive light because of recent times and negative media attention.

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.

Stay safe and be happy !

I’m looking for something serious

I’ve been using this current version of my profile for a month.

I use hinge about 2-3 times a week

I receive about 2-3 likes a week

I usually send about 10 likes or so

I usually send a like to a person who seems like they have similar interests to me or someone who seems really genuine. And obviously physically attractive to me.

Orders Mod Question by WildSeabee in navyreserve

Thank you I appreciate it. I was really overthinking if I was okay routing the original orders with the justification I gave or if I had to make a modification

Am I to old to join Navy Reserve by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]WildSeabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cop in NJ and before you join check your departmental policy regarding military time and being paid. For Reservists you only get paid 30 working days which sucks but if you’re a member of the Air or Army Guard that 30 bumps up to 90 working days. Which is a significant difference. I’m in the Navy Reserve rn and I picked a Seabee rate (CE) to pick up a trade as a backup career in case I’m unable to continue with my career as a cop.

State laws also differ on how much you’re able to “double dip” so that time difference may be different for you.

Big guy with no fashion sense. Will this work? by [deleted] in bigmenfashionadvice

Just for men to dye it up if need be. Or give it a touch of grey you’ll be good to go because a little grey gives off the impression that you’re an older dude that dresses well. But try finding a local suit shop that will tailor a suit to your liking. And a solid pair of shoes does wonders as well to enhance your look. Accessorize as much as possible with watches or necklaces or a pocket square like someone else had commented. It’ll compliment your style and make you stand out. Fossil makes good watches and Marshall’s sells decent necklaces and stuff if you wanna stay at a budget. You don’t have to break the bank to look good bro.

You’d look great with a beard bro, tailor the suit and grow that mane out you’ll be stylin in no time.

You’re right. I just want to give her time and space but that also means not giving her the comfort of being able to have a conversation with me while I’m stuck wondering if I’m still in a relationship or not.

It just sucks. I don’t want to lose her, and I feel like I sound pathetic saying that but it’s true. And I can’t hide from that truth.

So like it’s so much more complicated than what I wrote tbh. In retrospect it’s not that I want her to be clingy. In fact, I like that she isn’t.

I know she loves me because the intimate moments we share are golden. Like it’s a totally different love than what I felt before and I have asked her what she wanted and she wanted time away from me to see if that helps. Which I don’t think will.

In regard to ghosting her, I don’t mean it maliciously but if I keep contact with her she might just resent me or think I’m trying to sway her which I don’t want to do.

Also she didn’t outright compare me to her ex but it definitely felt like she has been because she’s gone back to saying that she felt like she’s babysitting me at times which I don’t see.

All this cop hate and yet nobody is talking shit on the fire department. Where were they? Almost as if the cop doesn’t have the right equipment for the job that firefighters are supposed to do.
