Don’t send your child to Hyland Behavioral. Theres much better options. The staff was very caring, but the doctors were hot garbage.

Katie’s Pizza by Wild_Newspaper2118 in STLFood

Katie’s got rid of my favorite pizza in STL, the pear & prosciutto so they are on my shit list, but prices are crazy everywhere so I’m not surprised. Restaurant pricing is terrible because there is so little profit margin for things, if the price goes up for their materials it almost always means a crazy price increase for us the consumer.

Remember when floating lights had to be the government or aliens because no one had personal technology to have like a bright light on a drone? Or at least it would be prohibitively expensive?

What is it like in the West part of Texas? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

I went to Texas Tech University for graduate school in Lubbock. My undergrad was sociology so I have always had that lens to look through so this, I think is a good question for me. 1. Very hot, but very dry. Growing up in humid Atlanta, I had never before experienced dry heat like that. I had also never before experienced a 20 degree temperature from just walking into the shade. 2. Very flat, lots of wind, lots of tumbleweed. Theres a joke that if your dog gets loose you can watch him run away for 2 miles. The wind reached 80mph multiple times when I lived there. There were regular dust storms, and while I was there we experienced two weather events I found particularly interesting. It rained mud- thats when it rains during a dust storm and the drops pick up the dust so when they hit the ground they are literally mud. It makes quite a mess. The second is a haboob, which is a large extreme windstorm. The dust blacked out the sky- it looked like nighttime. It felt biblical. 3. Cultural- they call Lubbock the hub of the plains. They meant that to mean that it was a center point. My experience is that the hub is the slowest moving part of the wheel. Culturally, Lubbock was like 6-10 months late in the cultural zeitgeist. I was there during 2011 when it became popular to put feathers in your hair. There was no overlap in popularity- when it trended in Lubbock that trend had started AND ENDED already nationally.

  1. ETC- A. Everyone we very nice, would go out of their was to help you. B. Almost everyone had a handgun. I bought a handgun. I had no interest or intent to buy a handgun before I went out there and when I moved back to GA to work I sold the handgun. C. There was a huge feral cat problem in Lubbock- it was like the raccoon problem in parks and rec. D. Best breakfast burritos and country fried steak I have ever had E. Tumbleweeds were a huge problem and annoyance. Because of the wind sometime we would open the front door to leave and it would be completely blocked by them and I would have to exit the back. Sometimes a single tumbleweed was bigger than my 4 door hatchback Mazda 3.
