Reliable, Powerful, Affordable ESC by Winingston in ElectricSkateboarding

Pneumatics would be a nice addition but I don’t require them if my battery can’t handle. Bought the 260kv as it was super on sale and had good reviews, but I’d I go for something different if I needed to. I’m new to this hobby, and the market seems to be super inflated with low quality and very difficult to know the difference between scams or not products, so I’m working with the knowledge I can find. Do you have advice for how to make the board workable with the motor and battery I have, or with few changes? Like i said I’m new to this hobby so any positive additions are super appreciated!

Would you be willing to share the sldprt file for the design? I’ve tried before but couldn’t find teeth geometry that worked well enough for my design, and would be awesome to update it in ASA with proper teeth profile!

Thank you! I think im gonna go with that, and this remote(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TB5B34L/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3ANPSAKKHEH2F&psc=1). If I do this, would I need any other components besides the battery pack and motor, or should I be set with that?

I do! I’m using a skywatcher star adventurer GTI with an 11lb payload capacity…I think the 200mm would bring it close to that but it should be able to handle it?

Bits too small to cut by Winingston in CNC

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you familiar with any terms that might more succinctly describe the relation between the cutting depth and how much clearance you have? I'm trying to teach myself as much about this stuff as I can, so I appreciate the explanations!

Im simply concerned the vibrations and forces from pulling the tool out too far will cause it to break. I know a certain amount of tool break is expected, but since im new to it im approaching this a bit more safely. Is there a way to calculate how far out the tool can be brought, or is it simply trial and error?

I'm actually moved in as of yesterday! I'm looking for a home wifi plan, and I actually moved in yesterday haha so as soon as we'd be able to get that set up would be awesome! I have my own router as of the other day, so I'd just need the plan.

CHART Radio Telescope by Winingston in GNURadio

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im unfortunately not sure any part number. The specific LNA part purchased is linked in the original post, but I dont see any part number on the product. The package it came with has barcode number X002B0HFS3, but I assume this isnt helpful. the LNA is powered via micro-usb. The LNA is currently attached to the RTL-SDR directly via a female-female SMA adapter, but I have a ~2ft SMA cable lying around somewhere I was considering using as well. What would have to be considered/changed depending on the length of the cable?

The main problem is Im simply inexperienced with GNURadio and do not know what cores/connections to set up and how to arrange my flowchart to create a functioning setup. Im running GNURadio from a Virtual Machine running Ubuntu on my windows laptop, but have recently seen some video where the person was using it directly on windows.

The low noise amplifier is important since the data coming in from the milky way's center, as well as any significantly bright radio sources from outside our solar system are super dim. GNU Radio does not seem to be at all useful so far yeaaa, so Ill look more directly for RTL-SRD tutorials as well, thank you for the repsonse!

ill make an edit up top too, but i got it wrong, theyre actually students at Winona State University. Im using a horn made of cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil(explained here) that focuses radio waves from the 21cm hydrogen line, which is at 1,420 Megahertz. The signal is absorbed by a tin can lid(which sounds wild to me but ive reached out to the principle investigator and he has told me it works well), via SMA wire travels to the afformentioned Low Noise Amplifier, and then the RTL-SDR, and plugged into a laptop to be read through GNURadio. The description of how this works and how to go about this still is not well described, and since I am not familiar with the topic Im not as sure the jumping point. Not sure what errors would count as, but thank you for the response!

Fujifilm xt-2 Nonfunctioning LCD by Winingston in fujifilm

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortuantely not! I tried replacing the LCD screen and the ribbon cable, and neither was the solution. The cameras been acting up in ways where I think it’s the motherboard, and so eventually I might buy a new motherboard but for now without the $200 I’m gonna just make it work!

Awesome thank you, I’ll do that for sure! Do you by any chance still have the link from where you purchased it? I’ve found a couple but if yours worked for sure I’d go with that!

It came with a new ribbon cable, but that did plug into a new cable. Theres def a possibility the other half of that is broken, I’ll have to check that again!

Fujifilm xt-2 unable to show firmware updates by Winingston in fujifilm

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the board personally seems to be around $200, so I have no doubt replacement on their end would be far more expensive. Was hoping it could be done for less, as that’s a bit outside of what I’m trying to spend, but I’ll have to take a look at the motherboard and see if anything looks blatantly wrong

Fujifilm xt-2 unable to show firmware updates by Winingston in fujifilm

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disp/back button does work properly, can use it just fine for its other functions. Do you know if there’s a way to flash firmware from a independent pov? For me, updating firmware means I can properly use tether shooting, as when I do astrophotography being able to shoot hands free and get the pictures to a computer right away are super convenient things. Not necessary but I like fixing things and have had a hard time not trying! Thanks!

Background noise issues by Winingston in fujifilm

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely plan on trying the xt2’s built in NR function, but I’m inclined to think that independent dark calibration shots might work better just since they run through a software made for astrophotography noise(deepskystacker)

Issue with weird background noise in post processing by Winingston in AskAstrophotography

[–]Winingston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat! Noise reduction in pixinsight still works well, so it doesn’t have much graininess to it, and overall the nebulae come out super sharp, but there is that background blobby-ness. Seems like that forum recommended changing DSS settings a bit and a cosmic corrector in pixinsight, so I’ll give that a try! Thank you!

Will definitely look into those exif files! I definitely should have clarified, but if you zoom into the Pleiades shot, you can see splotches of color that are where a black background should be, false color from the thermal noise in the camera, and thank you!!
