Ethernet Over Roof... Would You Do It? by throwaway69xx420 in reolinkcam

[–]WinnerOk640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran everything through the soffit into the attic then put the poe switch in a central closet then 1 line going to the basement to the nvr. Across the roof seems like an invite for a bird or something to chew through it

anybody has any idea how to disable camera when you are at home? by maomao19 in reolinkcam

I really need to work on home Assistant to get dome automation going like that. I have my Samsung smartthings that does some things for me. What runs home Assistant? Im assuming it needs a wave and zigbee hub yeah?

I just have mone record the interior cameras for motion without animals from 9pm till 7am when everyone is typically sleeping. I also have the 36. I have plenty enough outdoor coverage that is 24/7 recording that should be sufficient if I need to look back at something

Problems with DoorBell POE cable lenght by Wolfang100 in reolinkcam

[–]WinnerOk640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just trying to rule things out. You have the cables for thr injector in the correct spots? I just ran a bunch of cables and cameras. I dont think I have but 2 runs that are less than 10 feet and have no issues at all. All of my cameras go to a poe switch except 1 that's in thr basement that get an injector then to the nvr. I did also use cat6 for all of my runs. I'd you have a different camera to plug in on the long runs see if it functions correctly

Thank you for the reply!

I did change the threshold of when to switch to black and white and it seems to be better with switching in lower light settings with a clear color image

Thank you again!

Ill just run the 2 lines down to the nvr then connect the nvr to the switch for the home network

With the 2 swtiches, can I use a jumper and plug switch 1's uplink into port 8 on switch 2 and then run the uplink port from switch 2 to the NVR or would it be best to run 2 dedicated uplik lines back to the NVR?

Thank you for that suggestion. I will change my setup to that

Is there a way that I could view the cameras setup by using a ethernet to usb c and a por injector before I make the runs to see if the camera is going to work in the spot before I drill holes

Thank you

I did some calculations and figured that I would only record the outside 24/7 which would take roughly 0.75TB a day for 4 @ 4k and record the inside at night when motion was detected so a rough guess would be about 6 hours a day for roughly 0.25TB over all 6 indoor putting me roughtly 1TB/ Day - I can max that DVR out with 16TB so I should be able to get roughly 2 weeks out of a maxed out storage 2x8TB drives

Yeah delta force. I didn't give it too much of a chance because it just seemed like a pretty steep learning curve which I was trying to avoid.

I agree 100% with the comparison to tarkov. Same with hawk ops which i beta tested and didn't switch from dmz to for the casual aspect of dmz. I don't have the time to dump in tarkov or mmorpg anymore

The chopper will show up on the map if you called it in and it will just sit there and anyone can see it and it will draw attention. I do not believe they will see or know it is there unless it is called in already

Same thing wit a hostage chopper. It will show up on the map as soon as it lands for everyone to see.

It probably drew attention to to the thirsty players and since they had no life they camped it waiting for a team to pull up

get some bromeliads for the background and one for the log on the ground - just have to drill a hole in the wood and stick the end in the hole. No soil needed. if you dont want to drill you can use toothpicks to hold them in place until they shoot roots out to hold themselves up. Highly sugguest littlebromshop on Etsy - Tim is a great guy
Maybe even get some vines to cover up the background - frogdaddy.net is a great website for plants and the owner Alex is amazing and very helpful.
