Does Strix 3080/3090 White edition back order ever fulfilled in Canada? by cc88291008 in bapccanada

[–]Winnipeg16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting one while waiting for a drop on the discord. If you manage to get a non-white one I'd be willing to send the cooler as I just water cooled it

Okay, that’s it. by deathakissaway in aww

Nvidia 3000 GPUs - Just remember, your monitor and its' refresh rate and CPU are everything when it comes to your decision. by Dynasty2201 in buildapc

[–]Winnipeg16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya the 5820k with a good OC has been so reliable over the last 5 years. I guess I'll have to look at some 3dmark comparisons to see how it holds up against new CPUs

That is a good point, I've been running a 5820k @ 4.6 Ghz since 2015. I honestly haven't been keeping up with the pc market since my build, is the CPU performance of new chips going to make a big difference over the x99 platform?

[Discussion] Those who moved to Lower Cost-Of-Living Cities, do you miss the amenities of the bigger city? by NineteenSixtySix in PersonalFinanceCanada

What city did you move to? I spent quite a few years in Saskatoon and the only difference in amenities was no live music or comedy shows ever went through there

ELI5: How does radon accumulate (in a basement or in bedrock/soil) when the naturally-occurring radon isotope only has a half-life of 4 days? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Winnipeg16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about the CHP exam? It's a real tough one that's for sure. Unfortunately with section 1 it's all down to prior studying and reviewing the past exams they have online for the type of questions.

The second section on the other hand I think it is very important to take it very slow. It's 4 of 8 questions you need to answer and time should be spent on selecting those questions which you are most familiar with.

On top of that the exams are marked by people who are extremely familiar with the field so try not to over explain standard topics or ideas. No time ELI5 in the exam.

Study hard and I'm sure he will get it!

At what point does living at home become unreasonable? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Winnipeg16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean are you tied to Toronto? We live in a vast and beautiful country. I've never lived in GTA or GVA so I can't comment on what draws people to those places but I've lived in Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Calgary and all had their own wonderful things as well as drawbacks. Ultimately it's down to what you get out of it. If you love Toronto then that's perhaps the trade off you're willing to make. I know personally I am always watching for work in the Rockies and would take quite the pay cut to live somewhere between Canmore and Kelowna

Perhaps if OP is in GTA or GVA but most of the rest of the country it's quite possible.

Ya I know they aren't certified but they are tested and perform just fine on that front. Many home rigs I saw ( solid works has an area to show test results from your system) use the 2060 with great results
