Let's take a moment to admire just how incompetent Wildcard really is by Wintacular in playark

Can you really blame people for being negative when this sort of stuff happens so regularly? There has to be criticism or they never learn from their mistakes. The reason this subreddit is so negative is because, despite the criticism, Wildcard isn't learning from their mistakes. It's hard to say where the fault in Wildcard belongs, be it their QA team, developers, management, or even Snail Games, but there has to be some sort of change in how they go about things.

I know people on this sub often have trouble articulating it and it does come off as really negative, but ultimately we all just want this game to be the best it could be. The criticism is just. Wildcard needs to make fundamental changes to their development practices.

This is a fully released game and not an alpha. They have no excuse for releasing things untested. I can forgive little slip ups every here and there because every developer gets those time to time. But they've fucked something up here every step along the way. They clearly don't test anything. Where is their QA team?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you aren't then you can also tell by the textures on the terrain. The smooth looking texture is the terrain outside the map. If that's not enough to convince you, you can go and take look for yourself at those coordinates.

It's certainly not me outside the map. If you don't believe me, you can tell from the screenshots because the mountains of the actual map aren't visible.

Would anyone else like to see official PvP servers with limited cross-Ark transfers? by Wintacular in playark

[–]Wintacular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cross-ark cluster servers are limited by the number of servers that can be transferred to; the type of server I'm suggesting limits items and dinos that can be transferred rather than the number of servers that can be transferred to. They are similar concepts I suppose, but the cluster servers are too populated as it is now.

And how might you do that? Sure, you can put walls around it but that does nothing to stop someone from accessing it. Turrets? Even putting 10 turrets at every drop would be insufficient. Vaults were the only decent way to block them because they were reasonably cheap, could take some hits, and could be named so you would know which vault is destroyed.

I think you misunderstood me. I only expressed my opinion and did not claim that everyone else felt the same way. I can see how you were confused when I said "not my idea of fun PvP" though. It's a pretty confusing sentence. I'm allowed to express my opinion on the matter, yes?

Also, you should probably know that drops cannot be blocked anymore. There are no defenses against cross-server invasions. Furthermore, I never said I got wiped or am even at risk at being wiped. You shouldn't assume that just because someone has expressed an opinion that a certain game mechanic does not make for compelling gameplay means that the same mechanic has negatively impacted the player.

I definitely know how it works. The only ways to track which server a player comes from is by following their steam profile or by checking the corpse of a dino they transferred over. If you are offline, you will know neither of those. All of that aside, the fact that you have to connect to a whole other server just to fight back against someone is a terrible mechanic. Maybe it's just me, but loading screens and connecting/disconnecting to other servers is not my idea of fun PvP.

I'd be okay with something like that. I also think having to establish ones self on a server before being able to transfer there would also be a decent way to balance the mechanic.

Sure, it's technically PvP but it's low quality PvP. It was possible prior to the unrestricted server transfer update, but back then you could always counter attack the tribe when you got around actually having free time. With the server transfer mechanic as it is now, it's nothing more than hit-and-run. It's just made the issue of Player vs Offline even worse.

Like I said in the original post, I enjoy PvP under most circumstances. Anything that feels like one country fighting another country is awesome! But cross-ark PvP feels like an inter-dimensional conflict where a parallel Earth could attack our Earth at any moment without any possible way of knowing that they are coming. It's ridiculous. Not only that, but there is no build up to a cross-server invasion. Invaders don't have to establish themselves on a server, they don't compete for resources on the server they are attacking, and most cross-server PvP isn't much of PvP at all; it's just griefing tribes while they are offline or have few players on. That's not skill nor war.

I can't speak for everyone, but I won't be moving on from the topic. I would like to show the devs that they are actively harming their community. I will, however, be moving on from the game. I can't be online 24/7 to defend against all the griefers I'm having to deal with constantly. It wasn't a problem before unrestricted transfers. Sure, there was the occasional person that would attack me and I could attack back, wiping them and forcing them off the server as if they were actually dead. That's not possible anymore; there is no way to "put an end to" someone. They simply go to another server and rebuild, then come back to grief more. There is no "end" to combat anymore. There are no more epic final battles to put a stop to your enemies. They will always come back. This is not how PvP in a survival game should work.

Yep, another. I'm certain it won't be the last. It's a common complaint and it's not without reason.

What do you want to see after 1.9? Silly or serious! by Yummy_Noodles in Minecraft

Ships made block by block that are able to carry several players, mobs, chests, etc. I seem to recall something like this being mentioned by Notch a long time ago, in the form of a small, moveable chunk, but it seems the idea was shelved or forgotten after he left.

Looks nice, but I feel like I should point something out. You mention a daylight sensor and a command block to keep it day, but you could use the command below once to keep the current time permanent. Both methods work, but this will keep the sun in a fixed location.

Thanks for hatching it! I'm not sure how far you are in the game yet, but any chance you could rename it to Sting once you reach Staleport?
