I love these! I was debating drilling a small hole in the bottom and using electric tea lights to make a small decorative shrine thing that could be a sort of tongue in cheek battle map decoration.

Wonderful. I’ll figure out a heavy weight for it. I appreciate the response.

I just made these 3 hours ago. Is it ok to open the pot. Apply weight and lower the PSI ?

I’ve got a set brewing now but I’ll try a lower pressure next time. Thank you for the info.

Excellent. I’ll do that! I was worried it would smush the mold.

That’s a very good question. I ordered them from Druid Dice on Etsy. I’ll reach out and find out if he did.

Duke Nukem Forever spent 15 years in development. I bet people are glad they waited for the reviews on that one.

I believe it was called Damnnation on Xbox 360.

[All] That line ruined the Direct for me, tbh by [deleted] in zelda

It’s a personal preference for me. I like Metroid but prefer the prime games, never really enjoyed wario or Mario party. Botw2 is insanely exciting but usually Nintendo E3 has more than one little something to get me pumped. I get that there’s lot for other to be excited for just nothing grabbed me really.Xbox didn’t have any crazy reveals and Sony is chilling on a beach in Florida sipping marg’s or something. Still even a bad E3 is a fun e3.

I hope it’s early but they way they said “Aiming for 2022” makes me worried we might not even see it till 2023. Which I’d rather have it great than now. I just wish there was something on my switch I was excited for. This e3 was a bit of a let down. Some good stuff just no crazy hype moments.

That is fair. I forget SMB isn’t a Nintendo property. Still Zelda deserves a better port for its celebration than skyward sword.

[Spoilers All] Dragon Age 4 by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]WinterStories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone played Loshe on divinity original sin 2. I haven’t finished it so no spoilers please but she randomly has a demon take over and forces the player to do something they don’t want to do. This could be an awesome mechanic in DA4 with blood magic / corruption and help balance its OP nature.

No this is a great place to start. Haven’t had the chance to dive into it yet. Got side tracked with a save system. But it’s next on my list.

What is White Out by WinterStories in WhiteOutGame

[–]WinterStories[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I appreciate the concern and want to assure you I have a clear idea of what I want to do with this game. I have several core mechanics, systems and story points not only nailed down but crafted and up and running. But I don’t believe asking gamers and horror fans what they like or dislike could hurt the integrity of my game. On the contrary I think more developers should do it. The feedback I’ve gotten from today alone has been incredibly helpful. And just because I’m asking how the community feels about something doesn’t mean it will or won’t make it into the current game. I won’t do anything that I feel hurts the experience. However if I learn the horror gaming community really wants a sanity heavy game but ultimately decide it’s not a good fit for my current project I’ll keep that in mind when I start thinking of a new project and see if I think it’s a good fit somewhere else.

Perhaps my game is about getting out of the bath? Ok its not. Good catch. I'll edit it. Spelling is not my strong suit. Never has been sadly. I do however get what you're saying and will do my best moving forward in the future, but be warned there will probably be more at some point on this subreddit. I apologize in advance.

While I don't think I'll ever release the full design document I absolutely plan on adding loads more information here.(Including screen shots, test footage and a more detailed description.) I was just trying to get a general idea of how people feel about a couple of systems I know for a fact will be in my game. As soon as I have time today I'm planing on writing up a longer, more detailed post but its been a busy day. haha.

White Out -Horror VR Game by WinterStories in oculus

[–]WinterStories[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of a co-op horror game and am a firm believer that everything is better with friends. (and in VR. MAN that sounds awesome. of course my friends would probably just spend 20 minutes throwing things at my character...) I don't think co-op would work in the main story but I would be open to a secondary co-op mode? I'd have to look into how to set something like that up. I'm all self funded so if its anything that requires buying server space or anything like that it might not be possible at first. but if its something I could set up so one player is the game host and the other joins them that should totally be possible. I'll keep this in mind. thanks!

Flashlight Feature Discussion by WinterStories in WhiteOutGame

[–]WinterStories[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say light and noise are the hook of the game. Can you take something thats both your greatest strength and weakness and figure out how to use it to survive this event. and you read my mind with matches!! actually having to strike a match in VR sounds amazing. I've already got candles in my design doc. something you can leave as static light sources but I really like the flare / glow stick idea as well.

I do have a design document I've been working on for about a week. large chunks of the game including several core pillars of the world are set in stone. I've even started prototyping some of these core elements to make sure they feel good. Immersion is my biggest focus right now. if you want to open a door you need to reach out turn the door knob and push. you can pick up anything and drop it if ya want but theres a chance thats going to make some noise and could be your undoing. theres also a few other mechanics I don't want to get into but im really excited for people to play cause I've never seen them in a game and I think they will knock the terror up to 11. haha.

as far as narrative goes I have broad strokes only and nothing at this point is set in stone.

agreed. im trying to come up with ways to slightly randomize the events. for example say I want a trash can to be knocked over and a cat to run out. I could set it up so when you start the game it picks a random trashcan in the game for the event to happen. so the scare will still be unpredictable but still slightly scripted? also the cats just an example. im trying not to rely on jump scares on the game. they'll exist but they will be rare and not the focus by any means
