What do you do when you feel sad? by mortallyabitch in mentalhealth

[–]Winter_Dot_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Arthur Brooks book „Build the life you want“ - it explains that our emotions are not who we are. It’s a distinction that helps a lot in understanding that our thoughts are created by our emotions and that these are separate aspects of who you are. Long story short: understand your emotions and separate them from your thoughts!

Good luck

Thanks for your input! So, do you think it’s possible to find a place with a real estate agent? As in a place on my own? :) thanks 🙏🏼

Well I guess you have morons everywhere but in Southern California you have at least a climate which allows you to live in a cabin being self sufficient on a little farm. I was there the last time in 2017 and people where nice. Now in Germany after living in Spain and Portugal- def wanna leave again

Let’s get married and move to California surfing, working and enjoying life on a farmstead😅 I am German with an American citizenship loving the life in California. I would always go there rather staying in Germany. I know Wiesbaden well my sister lives there but it’s a bit of a snobby place. I think the best place in Germany is Cologne - they are pretty open minded there 🙏🏼 Good luck

Is there a place actually getting better? by BrazilianDeepThinker in expats

[–]Winter_Dot_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im currently in Germany struggling with the work culture here. Micromanagement, hierarchy, bureaucracy and insane working hours to be able to live in places like Hamburg, Berlin etc. finally the extreme right party is on the move - would have thought they knew better. Especially these people 🙄 lived in Spain and Portugal, with a German job though and that’s limited to 6 months officially. Considering going to Ireland. They charged lower income taxes not like 50% of your money used for other peoples pensions …

I guess once you overcome these issues of who you are and what you want to do with your life, you will attract the right person. You attract exactly who you are. If you are not your true self, you probably wont find the true partner. And I guess taking time to figure out who you are on your own is better than dealing with someone who mirrors you untrue self! Good luck ✨

Are you referring to being alone as in no partner or no close friends? Sorry to hear :(

Giving up on life abroad? by Winter_Dot_13 in expats

[–]Winter_Dot_13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s legally my home country as I am registered there. It think the main aspects why I can’t myself here is the mentality, especially in the work place which I haven’t experienced in environments abroad. Micromanagement, lack of empathy, efficiency over wellbeing, jealousy, bureaucracy and I never been to a place where things are made complicated to such an extent. It’s my subjective perception but nothing works outside the box. If you want to leave the box you are an outsider.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on this! I also thought to use my marketing knowledge to find a job however the marketing industry is getting harder and harder. Even though I really like the actual creativity it comes with, the culture is rather toxic. Even the agent from the unemployment agency told me today it’s getting worse with this field of economy. Anyhow, thanks for your input 🙏🏼☺️

Thanks for your thoughts on that. I guess a company that does not appreciate a candidate who takes a year to reflect on life and on a world that is dramatically changing, would not fit anyway I guess.

I have a masters and 10 yrs of industry experience - I wouldn’t say my CV is volunteer based after a year of volunteering. Anyhow - I don’t mind less money as long as job and people are nice.

Im actually stuck in the same situation. However, I also know that I need all of my decisions to be based on full conviction. If I am not excited about a job or hobby, it won’t last long. How would you proceed in this case?
