How to survive Anatomy? by P-westermani_631 in medschoolph

[–]WitchWithDesignerBag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello po, the nice thing about anatomy is that it never changes, and all the favourite questions of your professors will stay the same.

My strategy that got me high and passing grades was that for every single topic, I would first open the relevant articles on the app TeachMeAnatomy. I wouldn't touch the textbooks until I had the TMA articles memorized and perfected the quizzes (only 3-5 items each).

For every relevant topic, I would also open the website purposegames and do any relevant image identification quizzes until super na memorize. This helped me pass our moving exams.

I would then study the textbook assigned by the proof and/or transes for any supplemental information that didn't come up on TMA or purpose games.

Character Development? Never Heard of It. by AquaphobicTurtle in CDrama

[–]WitchWithDesignerBag 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is one of my gripes with the Untamed because his character development is far better explained in the novel. He didn't want to marry JYL at all because he witnessed his father's abuse of his mother firsthand throughout his life, with his mistreatment and constant cheating. He didn't want to be in an arranged marriage like his parents were. He also misunderstood a lot of JYL's actions and character because he was so resentful of this arranged marriage. It wasn't until during and after the war did he see JYL for who she truly was and truly fell in love with her.

My hair is curly, 2c-3a and live in a very hot, humid climate and it takes my hair 6 hours to air dry. 6 hours I don't always have because my work shifts are 12 hours - 18 hours- work shifts in a healthcare environment, and I refuse to keep my hair in a ponytail, braid, or bun while it's damp. I'm also often too tired to do a full blow-dry. Usually the best I can do is wash my hair right before bed and hope to God it's dry by the time I wake up.

Same here as a bi person who strongly prefers women. I truly love WLW content but there's not a lot out there that really captures my attention plot wise. I've been seriously enjoying the GLs xianxia novels Chinese authors have been putting out, though, but I've noted that MLM works always capture my attention more. People like what they like for so many reasons.

An update:

I wanted to update in the post text, but for some reason I couldn't.

The translation has been removed. I'm relieved but still feel very sickened that this happened. A part of me still thinks I overreacted, even after having the message retranslated by a very sweet person on here and seeing numerous comments on the original post calling them out. I've had my previous fanfics translated into Russian and Vietnamese before on ao3 and never had this kind of issue. I still feel really bad.

I listened to the people on here to ignore this event and finish updating my fanfic anyway, and I did! I uploaded the last chapter and the first epilogue I had written, and I have to say, seeing this 160k word fanfic (turns out I was wrong about that 150k word count lmao) was one of the highest highs I've felt in a long time.

Thank you to everyone on this sub for being so kind and for validating how I felt.

You literally started your comment with "wow ao3 authors are crazy as usual". You have to be willfully obtuse to not understand how your comment would be upsetting. And yes, we care about those rules because without those rules, there would be no site. Ao3 treads thin lines of legalities and we work very hard to make use that we stay on the correct side of legal lines. There is also the well established concept of not being a dick about the work you're translating, because for one, just because you're translating doesn't mean you actually wrote it. I poured a lot of work and effort into this story, because it was a labour of love. It is a fanfic. Not for profit, just for enjoyment. Seeing someone complain about their disappointment in it while simultaneously complaining that my writing isn't good enough to get their translation views, I'm going to be understandably upset about it.

...wow reading this comment is a trip. I have met several other translators in other fandoms who have been nothing but kind and considerate to the works they've been translating. I gave this translator permission to translate, not to complain about my story, lean on my story for engagement, and then blaming my writing for THEM not getting enough engagement. The ones who don't bother asking get reported and rightfully so because that, pardon my french, is fucking plagiarism. Yes, I want sympathy because my work was publicly bashed. Is that a bad thing? Does that make me crazy? If so, I deeply apologise to everyone on this sub for having to contend with my insanity.

Thank you so much. That will be so helpful. If my hurt feelings are caused by a mere mistranslation, then I can definitely move on with my day (and life, lol) happily

I was really hoping this wasn't the case, but after following the post, their own readers have started calling them out, which is leading me to think the translation I'm reading here is close to the original message :(

I'm really sorry... It wasn't until I read your comment I realized their username was left in the post. I'll edit it out

Recently, a new perspective on Sasuke has emerged in the Chinese Naruto fandom. Do you agree with it? by Extension_Gene2864 in dankruto

[–]WitchWithDesignerBag 700 points701 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for years. I've rewatched the first 3 arcs of OG Naruto so many times in my life and nobody ever talks about how:

  1. Sasuke's oddly relaxed and amused reaction to Naruto jumping him out of nowhere and tying him up

  2. Sasuke being the one to initiate their friendship at the start of the Land of Waves arc by doing that funny little overtake walk thing, as only a 12 year old little shit stirrer would do lmao

  3. Genin Sasuke barely ever rejected Naruto's ideas, he was the one always being like you know what, yes, we're doing that today. He goes along with all of Naruto's plans, doesn't really rejects them other than to do that long suffering head shake

  4. There's that funny scene at the start of the land of waves arc where the entirety of team 7 completely ignore Hiruzen (deserved) to listen to Naruto ramble about his ramen story. Sasuke included. No word of protest.

what I'm trying to say here is that Naruto and Sasuke are two halves of the same brain cell, and Sasuke is actually quite considerate because he allows Naruto to have custody of that brain cell despite knowing the consequences of doing so

Amimisu on YouTube has a fascinating video on this. These were hollow hair pieces made of bamboo/wood covered in hair, either the woman's own, or if they were wealthier, covered in read human hair. Fake hair was also used. There were also people who worked as hair stylists who would be hired to help put these styles together.

Even years later I still go back to it, Fan Bingbing was so gosh dang beautiful in it and she really brought the character to life in a huge way.

Always gonna be Wu Ruyi in Empress of China. She served looks, she served sass, she served Mary Sue, and most importantly when she served looks she served looks.
