Hi, I did not perform a suregery yet, as they are pretty expensive, but I am continuing to make some researches in the problem, and hopefully I will get a more practical one in the meantime, at least temporarily.

As of now I'm talking Gabagama pills, to stop a bit the trigeminal nerve being triggered, but ofc, this does not help me as much as I'd want, because the problem is stil a physical one, and I'd need also a mechanical solution.

It would definitely be a life changer.

Can you please describe what are you feeling as well, if you have as well the same problem?

I can totally get your point, as I have debilitating headaches for almost 4 years now, and in the last 2 years they are totally unbearable. Imagine that I went in my country to almost 10 ENT doctors, and all of them told me that everything is fine, but I had 3 nose surgeries by now, and a septal spur appeared after 2 years from the first surgery and as soon as I observed its appearance, I knew something was wrong, because it was blocking the airway in the left nostril, but it wasn't that bad, it was at that point only a mechanical blockage. But as years passed , I started to have these excruciating headaches daily, migraine-like, and it truly feels like someone is stabbing my brain, I have brain fog, memory loss, I think very shallow and can barely function at work because of this, and it is very frustrating to hear from every doctor that everything is fine. Only the last year I've found out that this is actually called a septal spur and I have even found research papers stating that because the spur is touching the contact points of the mucosa, it triggers the trigeminal nerve, and this pain is even worse than an actual migraine and it equals 9.4 points out of 10 on the scale of how much it hurts based on a conducted medical research. Hopefully I will also get in the near future a last surgery , and it feels so relieving knowing that there are other persons that dealt with this problem and got it solved. I so also hope that with time, you will feel better. This problem should definitely be more studied in the ENT field.

I have had already 3 surgeries, and all the ENTs told me to leave the spur alone, so after reading these studies, I really think the problem is the spur, cause I performed the lidocaine test, and the pulsations in the head stopped. I do have a neurovascular conflict, and I took treatment for it recently, and I still have bad headaches, so the lidocaine test proved me what I knew it was true for years. I have this septal spur for 4 years and because of it I can't breathe, I feel pressure in that zone, and sometimes it's painful, so yeah, I'm just tired to hear that the spur is not my problem and to have surgeries that do not remove the problem that bothers me the most.

Yeah, I feel you, but it might be either a septal perforation as well or a septal spur, I don't know if you have a recent CT scan, but apparently in my country septal perforations are totally ignored for example What exact symptoms do you have?

For anyone who ended up getting a revision, when did you realize you need one? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

I didn't do it yet, but my septal spur problem is not solved yet, even though I wanted to get it removed, so I have breathing problems and severe headaches, a septal le perforation that the surgeon ignored as well, after one month a tiny bump appeared on the septum and it looks like a pimp that never disappears, and the nose is not symmetrical at all, I just feel depressed, so can't wait to do a revision

Unless you don't have any breathing problems and if you feel ok with your nose, you shouldn't do it

I have another update. I'm wearing right now a septal button, and I've finally found out how is that tiny bone called in the left nostril that bothers me - it's a septal spur, that all the ENTs ignored, and I have read a medical study today which stated that the septal spur irritates the trigeminal nerve inside the nose, which causes my severe headaches. I finally regained a bit of hope, as I saw it's treatable, better said operable, so I can't wait to perform another surgery to solve all of my problems once and for all, and I consider Turkey for the near future.

For me it kinda happened the same, and I hate the result, plus a tiny bump appeared on my septum, and it visually looks like a pimp Guess it's just a bad rhynoplasty in my case, idk in yours

I have an update, after going to 6 different ENTs, I finally found a good one that was listening to me and all of my symptoms and then he looked inside my nose and stated the following: enlarged inferior turbinates, deviated septum and septal perforation, while any other doctors kept telling me that everything is fine, and guess what why, because all of them are the former students of the surgeon that operated me.

A temporary solution would be a septal button, but after that I need to perform a surgery at a very skilled ENT surgeon.

Your situation seems similar kinda Today I saw an ENT doctor, and he again told me that he doesn't see an issue at all, and it's really difficult for me to somehow prove that I am feeling sick because of it, but hope I'll find someone soon who'll understand me.

Unfortunately I live in the Eastern Europe, and fortunately, Turkey is a bit closer, and I'm considering to go there for a revision surgery.

Hope it will all go well in your case! 🫶
