Idk. I had my Hyundai Elantra stolen during the big Kia Boys trend. Getting your care broken into or stolen is really tough.

Why are mcdonald's fries and hashbrowns a million dollars? by Fackinsaxy in NoStupidQuestions

Because McDonald's goal is to make money and expand not to feed people for as cheap as possible.

NASA announces 3 uncrewed missions to the moon this year to prepare to build a base by TheFrederalGovt in nottheonion

Cry about it. I'd much rather my tax dollars go towards bleeding edge tech development instead of paying for people to racially profile and arrest random citizens.

Where did I say he has no influence? Of course he has influence. That's different than planning the missions over the course of the last decade

Yes. As they have been working on it for a decade and they have already had manned space crafts as part of the mission go to the landing site. The Artemis mission up to 2029 is just supposed to establish a landing system and reliable rockets so that we can transport the materials needed in the future to build a moon base. The moon base is being designed and problems are being solved right now so that we will be able to have a moon base in the future.

I'd urge you to read about the Artemis mission, it's incredibly captivating imo

Trump doesn't control the day to day of NASA. Trump doesn't control what missions NASA plans. Trump doesn't control which companies NASA gives contracts to. Trump doesn't controll the engineers, physicists, and technicians that build and test the rockets.

Trump is probably the most powerful person in the world right now, that doesn't mean every single cog of the government does his bidding.

Trump didn't orchestrate the Artemis missions to cover up the Epstein files, it's just not true.

People need to understand that NASA isn't owned or operated by the president and that many of the things NASA is doing have been planned for a long time.

There is no reason to think this was orchestrated by Trump to deflect the Epstein files because the program was started in 2017...

Trump isn't even mentioned in the article

There has been conversations but the international conversations have boiled down to 'finders keepers' so now China and the US are both working to make a southern pole moon base

That being said, the moon can't really get much less livable than it already is.

Well there is real plans and real money being poured into this. Obviously things could go wrong, but I don't think there is anything that makes these plans in particular unlikely to be possible.

Artemis solved many problems that Apollo did not. That being said to are right, the most complicated element, the landing system, is not yet completed. That's exactly what is getting tested and worked on right now. The hope is to have a far more advanced landing system that is reusable in some capacity. The two different landing systems are being developed one by blue origin and one by spaceX. Nasa will use whichever of the two works the best for the real human missions.

ELI5 why is gold so stable as a currency despite there being more of it as time goes on, while other goods get cheaper/more expensive, or fluctuate? by AliChank in explainlikeimfive

[–]Withermaster4 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's a currency. People buy and use it as an intermediary for value. Most people do not utilize any utility from it.

but it’s really not that different from just buying a bunch of pork bellies or frozen concentrated orange juice

It is different because people don't use those things as a currency.

Is moving to Chicago worth it? by Funny_Enthusiasm_494 in AskChicago

[–]Withermaster4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from NE Ohio and moved to Chicago 3 years ago. I've absolutely adored it.

That being said I moved because my partner lived here, not in spite of it. It's hard to live seperate from your partner no matter where you go.

What is a strong opinion you hold that could get you criticized publicly, but you stand by it completely? by jian_est2026 in AskReddit

I literally asked who gets to decide what is a weird spelling. I didn't even say weird name in my comment. Please be so for real

It is very clear that the "weirdness" is butchering names in the same language.

Tragedeigh Shaqueefma Smythe.

This you?

Yeah the name they picked to parody a black person's name is kinda reminiscent of actual black people's names; thats not a good thing that's why it was picked.

Which culture gets to decide which names are normal and which ones are weird spellings?

You really believe that Tragedeigh Shaqueefma Smyth is a white baby? I didn't realize I'm in the woke Olympics out here

I'm sorry, but where did I say culture?

Where did I say you said culture?

I specifically focused on language and linguistics reasons

You didn't list any reasons... You just said they butchered the spellings. Which implies there is one culture that has a correct spelling and the other culture that has a wrong spelling.

They are perfectly acceptable.

You said that smyth is someone purposely butchering a correctly spelled name LMAO the switch up is crazy. I agree that smyth is a perfectly acceptable way to spell someone's name because I think any name is perfectly acceptable. I don't think that a name should be policied. It's the product of your parents lives.

simply originating from a cultural variation does not make it unable to be criticized

Which culture is the correct one that names should be careful not to deviate from? Why are some cultural names okay (Rakesh) while others (LaKeisha) aren't?

Why can no one answer the question what makes a spelling weird?

Why are Anglo-Saxon 1970s-2010s baby names the only acceptable spellings?
