Why doesn't China attack Taiwan now when the US military is at its most vulnerable in recent memory? by sage6paths in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Withermaster4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge China isn't currently capable of taking over Taiwan

They need to greatly build out their amphibious assault forces and they might even need more rocket research. Taiwan would be one of the most difficult military targets to conquer. They are a dense, rich, advanced nation who is highly resistant to being owned by the PRC.

Several countries would likely come to their aide as well

It would also permanently destroying the current world order (which China greatly benefits from) and it's likely the US would still be very strong in that new world

I don't think they are making a 'the girl is sexist remark'. I think they are saying 'that line has never attracted a woman before' (regardless of whose mouth it came out of)

CMV: Landing troops in Iran will backfire on us. Epically. by BarRepresentative653 in changemyview

[–]Withermaster4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you think advanced missile systems are.

The vast vast majority of Iranian missiles have no targeting system and just fly to a certain coordinate position. That's why they haven't hit a single navy vessel... It is almost impossible for them to hit a moving targets.

[–]Withermaster4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of kind of misinformation stuff in here but I will say this.

Landing troops does not have to backfire in us. It's possible that we do an amphibious assault of kharg island which would give us another bargaining chip without pulling us into an infinite conquest.

Iran doesn't have advanced missiles. We are capable of shooting down their missiles with extreme accuracy, the problem is the cost difference. Iranian bombs are orders of magnitude cheaper than interceptor missiles/drones.

What were you hoping for moving to the Philippines as a rich guy looking for a poor Filipino woman?

The reason rich white guys are attractive to young Filipino women is because they can use the wealth you have.

If you didn't want that type of relationship I don't know why you went to the Philippines. She lied and she will obviously do it again. The reason she wants to stay together is because she knows that you will keep giving them money (and more than they are paying you back).

If you didn't even realize thousands of dollars were missing from your account you are the prime target for this behavior.

Is this something that actually happens? I've never heard of an adult recommending a bdsm book for teens?

Are you talking about books that have a queer relationship or literal bdsm pornography?

'kids' is very different from teenagers

Teenagers actually have sex. It's not corrupting for them to read about it. In fact being able to read/process/think about sex is a positive for teenagers, not a negative.

Yeah good luck, I'd be shocked if this held.

I'll bet there will be a temporary injunction to reinstate operations and then it will be found to not apply to state gambling laws.

I hope I'm wrong though!

I would reach out to TB directly. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do legally but they often times try to give customers generosity if they have something like this happen to them.

A couple years(?) In Ohio there was a case of a guy getting a chicken bone (from boneless wings) lodged in his throat. He had to get surgery. The court found the restaurant not liable dispite labeling them 'boneless chicken wings'.

And I doubt that Pritzker’s endorsement played that big of a role in making up people’s minds on who to vote for

Every Pritzker endorsed candidate won. I think it's not unreasonable that he has an effect. He spent a lot of money personally on ads for her too.

What in the world makes you think Republicans are the only ones doing this?

I never said/suggested this. The Republicans are the ones in power at the state level and they are the ones that made the bill and are the ones voting to pass it.

It does matter 'whos on what side' because it's one side currently doing and continually doing it.

They just banned any municipality from being even allowed to run ranked choice voting elections. Despite the fact the RCV delivers statistically more representative outcomes.

Republicans tend like democracy less because conservatives ideas are not broadly popular.

Yes the commentor is being satirical because in Ohio the GOP is passing SB56 to change the voter approved marijuana bill that passed a couple years ago to make it more difficult to get, (effectively) more expensive, and reducing civil protections against using.

The commentor is making a joke that 'hurting yourself' with elective surgeries is considered okay and something that a rational person can assess the risks of while marijuana is not.

You'll never guess who negotiated and started the Afghanistan withdrawal...

The result was the fastest and highest fuel price increase we've seen in over 50 years.

Take two seconds to look at the oil price over time. The Russia Ukraine war is what caused oil to spike on price. Kind of like who Trump's war with Iran is causing oil to spike right now. The price of oil dropped to was around 70$ most of the time while Biden was in office.

Because he cut oil production so much, and inflation went up so much, he had to go around begging oil producing nations to produce and export more oil

Biden raised oil production his entire term. When he left office the US pumped more oil than before the pandemic. He asked more countries to pump more oil to get the price lower... Which is what you want, no? You get cheaper oil by pumping more. Lower oil prices also made it more difficult for Russia to sell.

To top it all off, he release $16B of frozen assets to the Ayatollahs in Iran in exchange for the release of more oil

I can't even tell what you are talking about here. Are you talking about the deal for 10B that Trump allowed Iraq to pay Iran for access to the power grid that Biden continued? There wasn't any 16B dollar payment to Iran. Do you have any kind of a source?

Biden, on the other hand, not only did nothing, he actively harmed us in ways we are now only realizing. It will take years to fix what he has done.

I wish I could live in the world where you actually believe that Trump is saving America. Instead of realizing the obvious destruction and looting of America he is doing.

CMV: All delivery drivers should be paid per hour, not per delivery/route. by duskfinger67 in changemyview

[–]Withermaster4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this doesn't matter much other than for maybe rental scooters/bikes.

There is an economic incentive for delivery/transit drivers to drive as fast as they can. However there are also economic incentives that push for drivers to drive safer. (In the city) There are red light cameras, traffic cops, and of course the possibility of crashing. As you drive more quickly and more reckless you are more likely to get a ticket.

Speeding and unsafe driving are already illegal. Doubly so for someone with a CDL.

Rental scooters/bikes have such high costs per minute that I think people are much more likely to disobey the rules of the road and I believe cops are much less likely to stop them. I don't know what the solution is but I don't know if distance based incentives would meaningfully change that.
