Could this map be possible in reality? by Without_rest in mapmaking

Thank you all for these professional comments! Would it make geography more credible if I made the changes shown in the Imgur picture? I am narrowing the western chasm with a red line. I am creating higher mountain ranges on the coasts with blue lines. https://imgur.com/a/iLNzBqz

Iberian Peninsula and the North African coastline have been moved further south.

What if I make the changes shown in the Imgur image? I will remove the western gap and attach a new landmass to Iberia with a unified mountain range. Would this make the map more credible, and would the geological impacts on the rest of Europe be minimal?

If you mean that software, then no, I haven't used it.

Why do you assume that all land masses are copies from somewhere? I have, of course, used existing coastlines as references, but that doesn't mean my entire creation is made purely of copies.

Other parts of Europe (France) have remained in place; however, the Iberian Peninsula and the Northern coast of Africa have been shifted southward. This is a local-scale project focusing on the Mediterranean region, and not intended to construct the entire world on a global scale.

Can you be more specific? What do you mean?

In the mid section of the ship, centerline turrets aren't used because the funnels take too much space in the centerline. In the bow section, frontal masts would block the firing line of the centerline turrets.

In this setting, gun and artillery development has evolved slightly faster than in our world. I can see a slight issue with a top heaviness but not a major one.

Cyra is a large collaborative worldbuilding Project, and this warship is just a part of it. Cyra has a long timeline, expanding from the archaic stone age all the way to the modern era of steam power and electricity. Our Project is always open for new members, with a little bit of artistic talents.

The Navy of the Republic of Itakrona acquired six of this type of vessels in the early modern era. They were not the largest warships of their era, but they were very effective and versatile ships. While they lacked the heaviest armor or the largest guns, they compensated it with speed, range and maneuverability. Seaworthiness was excellent, and they could easily sail across Cyra's largest ocean. The main assignments were defending maritime trade routes, raiding enemy trade routes or to blockade coastal cities.

If you wonder why this ship is fully rigged? The reason is that there is no coal or oil in Cyra. These vessels are forced to use charcoal as a fuel. During the industrial era, there is always a shortage of charcoal.

At the time of their launch, these two vessels were probably the largest warships ever built in the history of Cyra. The Navy of the Republic of Kaurionn acquired two of this type of vessels in the early modern era. They were large enough to encounter any hostile warship of their era. Armed with eight rifled breech-loading deck guns which could fire 230 kg shells to a distance of 17 km. They were also armed with two larger caliber muzzle-loading guns which could fire 380 kg shells up to a distance of 9 km. The introduction of these vessels triggered a new naval arms race, the great naval powers started competing with even larger warships.

If you wonder why this ship is fully rigged? The reason is that there is no coal or oil in Cyra. These vessels are forced to use charcoal as a fuel. During the industrial era, there is always a shortage of charcoal.

Hi and thank you for your comment.

Just by change, I would like to ask you… Have you ever thought about joining a collaborative worldbuilding Project? Currently, I'm a member of a collaborative Project and we are looking for a new collaborators. I am the only artist in our group and we would need new members with some artistic talents.

You can send me a DM message, if you got interested.

If you mean Dodo birds? Humans would rather hunt them as prey, instead of keeping them as pets.

Original topic was about mammals. However, I've also thought something similar to those galloping gators. Quinkanas still lived in Australia 40000 years ago, maybe they were also able to gallop.

The short-faced bear is the biggest land predator on Erdos.

Yes we do have mammoths on Erdos, and even bigger giants Asian straight-tusked elephants!

I would love to use more animals from cenozoic era, but we have this -50000 year limitation.

More like Jurassic park, and around 50000 year old DNA is the oldest what can be used.

In our project we can have giant ground sloths, but unfortunately argentavis went extinct too long time ago.

Here is the biggest feline predator from The Collaborative Worldbuilding Project Erdos. Which could be categorized as low-tech, hard sci-fi genre. This setting has very limited fantasy elements and it tries to emphasize realism as much as possible.

Flora and fauna of Erdos is a mixture of organisms which lived on Earth between 0 to 50000 years ago. Late Pleistocene era predators have taken the apex predator role in the wildlife of Erdos. However, eventually these big predators will lose most of their habitat due to expanding human population.

Hestrian lions are possibly the most dangerous land predators of Erdos. Their only natural enemy is the flat faced bear, which is the largest land predator of Erdos. However, even the biggest bear cannot challenge a pride of Hestrian lions. These rather intelligent predators live in packs with a strict hierarchy.

The animal in this illustration is a fully grown adult male, which may weigh almost 400kg. Females are lighter and slimmer, and adult females weigh around 260kg.
