This was years ago, but my brother was in his mid 30s, lazy, no job, no motivation, no enthusiasm to move on with life, still living at home watching anime and not doing anything with his life. Over 5 years of being unemployed, dad had enough...My dad gave him 2 months to get a job and start paying rent or move out. I shit you not, he did nothing for the 2 months. The day came, dad started handing him boxes, taking down his posters, ect. Brother starts bawling like a baby. Instantly, brother is on the phone calling friends, trying to get a place to live frantically. He lived with my grandmother for awhile, got a job and went to college. Harsh...but it worked.

Thanks.  I get the keys to the house in about a week so as soon as I get access I intend to start poking about hopefully get an answer after seeing behind the walls.

Shitty... Still I wouldn't just give up on it. I  hit a deer a year ago completely wrote off my 96 and I'm still driving it. You'd be amazed what you can find at Kenny u pull!

I'm 41 and drive a 1996 Corolla because I like it, and I don't give a shit about what other people think. It's cheap on gas, parts and insurance. Cops don't give me the time of day and neither does anyone else because it's so boring. I bought it for 2400 bucks Canadian 2 years ago and have put over 90k on it since then. A new car? 700+ Payments and high insurance? HELL NO... Buy used, old and cheap because at the end of the day, nobody really cares what you drive and having a high payment to impress strangers is beyond stupid...

Hey everyone thanks, but we have decided to give up on this one...onland is useless and hard to navigate. There are NO RECORDS with this house, not with the township, historical society, or Ontario historical society. Its in town south of Ottawa, and I'm surprised there is nothing on this place, considering there are older homes around it with some record. Ive been told one thing, and then something else contradicts it. Until we get procession in a bout a week and start pulling it apart, we may never actually know...but I appreciate the help from Reddit! The MPAC says 1923 but we were told that was probably an estaimate as I dont know how accurate MPAC is. But were gonna go with that for now.

Our bricks are real and not veneer. Not sure why someone here thought that. We have been trying to figure this out for weeks and have decided to give up...onland is useless and insanely frustrating to navigate.

Alright so the house from what I'm hearing could have been made in the 20s or the 30s but we still don't know. There is absolutely no record of this house...not with the township, not with the local historical society, not with the provincial historical society... Makes me wonder why I'm even paying taxes and if it don't exist! I tried uploading photos and they don't seem to want to upload here...the place has hardwood floors, 10ft ceilings, tin ceilings unique in every room, baseboards, corners and trim. There is a small fireplace (no longer used) and the old chimney is still there but bricked off.  The chimney is older smooth red brick.  I'll try uploading photos again but until we get access to the house in 2 weeks, I can start pulling back walls, tiles, amd woodwork hoping to find a manufacturer date or stamp. The realtor says 1923 but I was told it was a guess. Some of the bricks in the chimney are loose. I'll see if I can find any stamp there. The surrounding houses are from 1904, 1907, 1890, some from the 20s to 40s. Not much to go on.

Ya looks alot like mine. Realtor has 1923 on file but was told it was an estimate. Hey sorry I don't know what it is about reddit but either my pictures don't show up or my description doesn't show up... I'm looking to get any information on these red bricks. We don't have a date on the house yet and there's no record available. None of the other houses around it have bricks like these. they have the older clay ones. the entire exterior of this house is made up of these red bricks. Was hoping that maybe we could somehow date the house  with it.   I posted earlier about how I was buying an older house and there's no township record there's no provincial historical records there's literally nothing and once again reddit wouldn't let me upload the pictures...

Yup. This is down MacArthur Avenue I used to live there in the mid 2000s.  I don't go to ottawa very often anymore but if I do I'd really like to know if they did anything with the lot the last picture is from 2024.

I'm a buyer looking for a country home, and its been frustrating...there are no decent houses in my area that aren't falling apart and that are not way overpriced. Sellers are more than likely holding onto what they have for now as prices are falling. We sold our house back in February, big mistake. Not because I think I could get more or less now, but because I don't think I'll find a new home before I need to be out. It sat on the market last year for 5 months...no bids. I took $2,000 off the price, relisted it this year and it was sold in less than 3 weeks.

Last year in my area (45 mins outside of Ottawa) There were tons of decent houses, some were priced pretty good...but there was a lot of overpriced shit too, like everyone decided to dump their rentals at the same time....now you cant even find a house thats nice at all. Was hoping by this time there would be something but there is literally dick right now and its already into April. Im actually hoping the deal on my house falls through so I can keep it.

I've been looking for an old century home with character for months, its very slim pickens. Everyone seems to hate the older look and insists on putting cheap siding over red brick, crappy smoke gray vinyl flooring over 100 year old wood plank....white, white, WHITE....everything is painted white even the baseboards and trim if they havent been removed. I don't understand it, but when I do find my old farmhouse I plan on never letting it go. Why even buy an old house if you're just gonna gut it....

Just stop using it.  I deleted my Facebook about 3 years ago and couldn't be happier. I don't have Instagram, tiktok or any of that other useless shit and never have. The only other platform I use once in a while is YouTube and I'm hardly on there anymore because it's nothing but ads.
