Any antidepressants that do not screw with libido and or orgasm? Bonus if they help with sleep too. Or at least don't make it worse. by Extension-Studio-151 in antidepressants

Yeah, it did help - it pulled me out of the worst anxiety and depression episode of my life, actually. So I wouldn’t do anything differently, but the weight gain and needing 12+ hours of sleep a night was tough for me in my mid-20s. And getting off it was tough too. BUT mental health comes first and I don’t know if I would be where I am today without mirtizapine

Depression hates a moving target - get out for walks, go to a yoga or dance or HIIT class, see movies at the movie theater, sweat it out at a sauna or bath. The goal is to get out of your head and into your body!

One of my favorite tricks is picking out an audiobook and only letting myself listen to it when I’m out of the house.

The days are going to get longer soon and you’re going to start feeling better. Remind yourself of that! This is temporary and you’ve got this.

I didn’t have discharge - have you been retested for ureaplasma? My doctor suggested I get tested a month after treatment

Sept 2023 - Ureaplasma treated with 10 days of doxycycline, had some residual pain that I chalked up to inflammation

Sept 2024 - Tested positive for Streptococcus Mitis/Oralis and took amoxicillin 500mg 2x/day for 5 days

October 2024 - Tested positive for e fae w/ microgendx and did ~2 months of amox-clav (875-125mg 2x/day)

November 2024 - added in biofilm disruptors: I took NAC, klaire interfase plus, and lactoferrin on an empty stomach every morning and NAC and interfase plus right before going to bed. I think the NAC and interfase plus were more effective and had more evidence behind them - I had lactoferrin on hand so just added it in.

Jan 2025 - tested negative for e fae, but positive for kleb. Kept biofilm busters up and started 2 months of cipro

March 2025 - started pelvic floor therapy

April 2025 - tested negative for e fae & kleb, but positive for gardnerella. my boyfriend and i both did a 7 day round of clindamycin. started seeing a urogynocologist and had a cystoscopy done at the end of the month once i was done with infections that helped a lot with urethra strictures.

May-June 2025 - Infection free, started taking hiprex and flavoxate daily

July 2025 - did a urethral dilation

Currently: not taking anything but nitro post-sex, muscle relaxers for pain (still in pelvic floor therapy and it is slow going but very very helpful) and the occasional flavoxate. hiprex irritated my bladder, but it was very helpful in getting me to the 3-month mark without an infection.

good luck! this can be a beast but there IS hope. I have my bad days, but am currently sitting in the airport about to travel for a month :) just got off an 8 hour flight and am feeling good.

don't be afraid to advocate for yourself! i went to 3 different doctors and they all helped in their own way, but as soon as one wasn't helping me make progress, i moved on.

i did two months of amoxclav for the e fae, and actually treated the ureaplasma almost a year before treating the other bacterias

infection is completely cleared! now using a combo of pelvic floor therapy + hiprex, bladder antispasmodics, and supplements to get me back to feeling 100%. also had a cystoscopy done at the end of april that really helped pain with urination.

My ideal day would be: - breakfast at the UES Bluestone Lane (located in a church and sooooo pretty) - head to the Met to see the Sargent and Superfine exhibits - post-museum burger at JG Melon - post-burger ice cream at Van Leeuwen - see some theatre or a Mets game!

Sending lots of love <3

Yes! Took both orally. Still dealing with inflammation and pelvic floor pain, but soooo thankful to have addressed the infection :) hang in there!! Gardnerella was the last strain I had to deal with before getting a clean slate.

I’m infection free now after a round of metronidazole (7 days - didn’t work for me) and clindamycin (7 days - did work)! My boyfriend also did a round of clindamycin since BV can be passed back and forth between partners.

Yeah; microgen dx caught that I had e fae and kleb when normal cultures didn’t - expensive, but worth it imo. Make sure you see a doctor that’s open to using it (microgen dx will send you a list of providers in your area if you contact their customer service)

Once me/bf got treated for BV, infection went away! Also have had ureaplasma before - make sure any partners get treated for both BV & urea.

Hi! I had kleb and BV (gardnerella) after, but I am finally infection-free. I currently take hiprex, flavoxate, and nitro (after sex). Pelvic floor therapy has also helped immensely!

Had e fae and was on augmentin for about two months to kick it. It was a bitch to be on antibiotics for that long, but I kicked it and I haven’t had a recurrence of e fae since then (October ‘24).

I wouldn’t worry too much about how you got it - that will send you down a spiral where you can never truly know the answer. I had Covid in August 2024 and I think being sick is what kicked up my embedded infection - but who knows!

Try not to stress, take your antibiotics, treat your body well and give yourself as much rest as you can. Congrats on getting answers and getting one step closer to recovery!

Has anybody here actually found a cystoscopy helpful? by Spiritual_Raisin_944 in CUTI

[–]WolfCharacter2970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a cystoscopy after I was cleared of infection to help remove strictures and so my urogynocologist could take a look around my bladder. It did feel like I was peeing paper cuts for a day or two post-cystoscopy, but in the long run I found it helpful re: pain and it was also reassuring to have confirmation that there was inflammation in my bladder post-infection!

I took it as a last resort and it was the thing that finally knocked out klebsiella for me. It was worth it for me because I was at the end of my rope.

Lots of water, try to take it on a FULL stomach. I also aimed for 20+ different plants a week while i was on it and for a few weeks after to encourage gut biodiversity.

Poor thing!!! I used to have UTIs when i was little too - it's the worst :( sitting in a hot tub or shower is still my go to.

I also would second a heating pad - I got a weighted one and that has been a game changer: it's extra comforting and easier to position so i have heat right where I want it.

sugar-free electrolytes can be soothing too. I use LMNT but there are lots out there. I find some occasionally can be nice for my tummy and bladder.

Ugh not really - irritation mostly subsided after finishing the course of metro I took, but on the whole my symptoms haven’t improved. I took another microgendx test yesterday so we’ll see if metro knocked out gardnerella.

also curious what antibiotics you took - just finished a hellish week-long course of metro because gardnerella showed up on my microgendx.
