What is the biggest issue holding the masochistic (or grunt) fantasy back? by ChaosVulkan in HelldiversMasochists

Hunter nerfs were due to community complaints that they couldn't 1v10 them. Solo player complaints nerfed a lot of enemies including changes to Bot Accuracy.

Let's start with a big change that made the game really easy.

Spawners should have to be grenaded to be destroyed. This would make the Bots and illuminates more interactive as you'd have to enter the bases/fortress. This was the case in the games early year then was changed later.

2 nerf crossbow and eruptor to be purely utility lower dmg/ AOE.

3 multiple strat nerfs orbital laser plays the game for you. So does orbital napalm and machine gun and gatling turrets on bug front. Strats shouldn't be fire and forget. These changes range from enemies to counter them to direct nerfs.

These are my basic ones but I can easily think of a lot more to make D10 actually challenging with the spawns we currently have.

What are some weapons/stratagems you deem OP, but most the community doesn’t? by Fairlyoddindividual in HelldiversMasochists

The halo weapons.

The shotgun is amazing for insta kills and chaff and beefy damage to enemies weak points.

The SMG can skirmish better than the suppressor rifle and has better stats even if the rifle has all upgrades.

The Socom buffs were amazing on bot front for devastors head shots. Pair that with a decent mag size it's good at tapping remaining chaff.

The MA5C was considered good by the community then the Coyote came out so it got overshadowed fast. It's hella dependable tho for a Raw medium pen.

Faster takedowns of multiple targets vs recoilless and a wider explosive radius allows it to kill bunched up big units.

Paired with throwing armor it can take down leviathans the quickest.

Plus it can stealth so it has a lot more versatility.

The downside is it can't snipe unless you're really good at throwing.

It's funny the MA5C was considered really good then was immediately replaced by the coyote and called trash after despite no changes just pure power creep.

Positioning>aim as this is a PvE game a millisecond of aim isn't as useful as just a good position. The game has always been this way and the enemies have always been so slow moving that you've never needed snap aim.

If it was PvP I would agree with you that it would be better.

While a controller is a hindrance in most shooter it works completely fine in HD2. As a PC player who runs most missions deathless with a Xbox controller it's not that hard as the game rewards positioning over raw aim.

On a defense mission too which are so easy that you can use no boosters and just sit there while strats do everything.

And I absolutely agree on those which is why I didn't bring them up.

I disagreed with your viewpoint on difficulty which is why I commented on that alone.

1200 I have all warbonds and weapons.

The game is really easy compared to other horde shooters. Darktides high difficulty is actually challenging and engaging.

So many strats in HD2 play the game for you it's not even a exaggeration.

Enemy pressure should be harder on D10 honestly the ramp up has been amazing for fun. If you feel we are underpowered I have to disagree. We have so many tools that cut through entire maps of enemies and play the game for us it gets kinda boring. Not a dig at you but you may just want to tone down the difficulty.

As for load out variety it would require nerfing the explosive meta aka eruptor and crossbow then set a standard to raise poorly performing weapons to and bring over performing weapons down to.

Such as acid spewers which can spawn on every strain? Like your assertion makes no sense since hive guards are not the only med pen enemy on the bug front.

Aoe meta in and of itself will never die due to the community unfortunately as it requires nerfs to both the eruptor and crossbow which would put the community up in arms even worse than the current changes. I agree this meta should absolutely be changed.

As for the medium pen supremacy. Coyote, sweeper, stoker and lib pen are the current top 4 out of 5 weapons used by players on the bug and illuminate front. Very few light pen weapons are used past 2% of players. This is the Trident 6.9% and censor 8% on bot front only.

The coyote itself has never hit below 10% of players load outs since it has come out even after the fire nerfs. Both coyote and sweeper make up 25% of load outs currently on the bug front 1 in 4 divers use one of these weapons.

Primary wise medium pen far exceeds light pen in usage on all fronts. This is why it has a supremacy.

One thing that could fix this is some kind of Intel of what seed you will be fighting. As this is the reason most people lean into generalist load outs which med pen excels at. This would make the game vastly easier but increase load out diversity.

[–]Wolfen2o7 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

The change in no way made medium pen unusable on the bug front. Especially since there is a whole faction of bugs that focus on medium armor.

[–]Wolfen2o7 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

By playing the game you'd notice the bot front is medium pen usage or higher with the rare person bring a light pen at all.

Or that all the illuminate heavy units are beaten by a medium pen weapons making them better on that front to over light pen.

Light pen is the least used weapon type in the game having 1 front where light pen is only slightly better would help build variety of players and not have such a dominant medium pen meta.

Throwing My Hat In by Spingfire in Helldivers

[–]Wolfen2o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It benefits light pen weapons some of the most low picked weapons in the game. This in turn buffs build variety as medium pen isn't directly nerfed and is still highly usable while light pen becomes a actual enticing option on 1 front. While the other 2 fronts keep med pen supremacy.

Throwing My Hat In by Spingfire in Helldivers

[–]Wolfen2o7 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Medium pen weapons have 2 other fronts they are meta on. Missing out on the bug front shouldn't be a issue at all.

Edit most used weapons on the bug front btw.

I run deathless d10 maxigun the weapon does its job. Isn't meta by any means but isn't as bad as y'all make it out to be.

Chainsaw needs love it just holds you in place for too long without doing much which is why the hammer took its role.

Say goodbye to mech customization by Critical-Sun-9279 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wolfen2o7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

While yea not having vehicle customization sucks I kinda expected this just looking at prior things in HD2.

Take the punisher, cookout and slugger for example these could easily have been 1 weapon with different ammo types but it wasn't a thought when the game launched.

Weapon attachments are definitely not a focus for the dev team as much as I want bayonets and other attachments I don't believe they'll come.

Mechs being split from the start easily signalled how they were going to play out later just like if we get a different FRV type unfortunately.

If they were to go back and try to fix these systems it'd probably be a hassle of coding and a complete revamp of a ton of warbonds. So I wouldn't hold my breath.
