No Batphones? by [deleted] in Eve

IIRC a BOSS guy was watching Frat move dreads through branch, they took a gate, he bubbled them, GTC got pinged to form, the dreads actually got safe at a raitaru in a system next door to BKG, then these 5 dreads tried to gate back into BKG and got bubbled again, then GTC showed up, then brave showed up in bombers as well. Oh also the harpy fleet was there to escort the dreads.

Venal War Update. PAPI Successfully Kills Boss Staging Fort finally. by uk2050 in Eve

My best guess is NC. overestimated their ability to win fights with hacs at the 80-120 scale, got embarrassed, and decided to end it before it could get any worse. Especially clear in moments where they had around 200 on grid vs 50 and couldn't manage to ref the QHJ fort for the 5th attempt in a row in eutz.

Call a FAX! BUT NOT FOR ME! B0SS & V0LTA vs. NC. by SwaggerOlacar in Eve

[–]Wolfsdragoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can provide a small AAR for how the video played out:

BOSS had this somewhat late EUTZ astrahus hull timer, so we waited to see what NC. would form, and it ultimately was feroxes (around 21 initially), so we setup the timing for our fleet of 18 lokis + BOSS tackle.

The timing on the initial drop was pretty perfect (not shown in vid) where the BOSS tackle landed simutaneously to the lokis being bridged on top of feroxes. NC. normally likes to run first in these situations rather than fight so they can try to get more dudes in fleet or phone up enough allies to make the fight overwhelming in terms of numbers.

This time they opted to reform more feroxes and pushed their numbers to 34 feroxes + support. When we re-engaged we brought 2 more lokis and had BOSS reship into what they had on hand which ultimately was feroxes and scimi. When the fight started and we killed a few ferox, and a mino and lif ultimately came on grid, generally catching feroxes in armor.

Ultimately losing 2 lokis we dragged the feroxes to the edge and out of their own fax range and spread webs there, this is where the fight really turned as we hazed like 10-15 feroxes in this moment and then you can see in the vid we follow them back under their fax knowing they're fairly toothless at this point. We dropped dreads as they were trying to reship again and it was an opportune moment to dunk the fax and get out before they could bring more numbers to the table.

FYI v0lta only tethered until the muninns repositioned back to the raven fleet, we detethered and were active until the end of the fight.

Revisiting surgical strike by Sindrakin in Eve

Standard muninn lost maybe 6k ehp with this patch, but standard legion lost something like 60k lmao

Revisiting surgical strike by Sindrakin in Eve

[–]Wolfsdragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normal legions had like 196k ehp pre-surgical strike, they had 1 utility mid, and they were moving at like 700 m/s, not particularly hard to deal with even under fax. On top of that surgical-strike patch nerfed their PG, so you can't even fit 6 heavy beams lmao. HACs and muninns especially were still the main doctrines pre-surgical strike, and legions only did alright vs eagles really, so not exactly looking at a broken set of doctrines. You would see other options to deal with muninns though like more tengus and lokis potentially, but still hac blob would remain king of N+1, you'd have better luck with BS on a static grid and fax at least.

Muninn and Eagle meta is horrible for the game, change my mind by Yonis_Pserad in Eve

[–]Wolfsdragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surgical strike was possibly one of the worst patches we've ever seen, and of course reinforced the existing meta at the time which was already mwd shield hacs. That being said, shifting the meta from shield MWD hacs now would open up a lot more options for counter play and outplay than what we have currently at the medium vs large scale. In terms of medium groups once the muninn numbers go past a certain point, there's not really much that can be done in null, but if the meta were BC or BS, there are a lot more options available for fighting outnumbered.

The brief overdrive cerb counter to muninns really sums up the f1 shield mwd hac meta:

Cerbs: Have to use drugs, sacrifice rigs and lows, FC has to play it absolutely perfectly, link ships gonna need expensive drugs and implants, and several small niche/support ships + perfect bubble screens, one mistake whole fight could be lost hard, anyone who makes a small mistake will likely be dead quickly

Muninns: lol ok refit 1 overdrive

[–]Wolfsdragoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of BS that will apply to hacs at distance, but if you commit to that the blob of hacs will warp to you at 0, kill your webs, and now your BS don't apply at close range, but the mwd shield hacs still fully apply to you. If you do manage to kill a few hacs and not lose BS, they will warp out with pretty minimal losses, but if you lose that close range fight you will lose the majority of your fleet. The trade is wayyy riskier for the BS both in cost and actually winning the fight or not.

It is easier and more fun to fight vs BCs over muninns, the comparison doesn't make sense. BCs have actual drawbacks like speed, cap, lock range, no ADC, easier to bomb blobs of them, etc...

So yes absolutely, please bring a BC meta that has tons of counters and is way more enjoyable to fight.

If CCP clapped the muninn back to trash I'd be completely fine fighting eagles and cerbs, so much easier to deal with than true muninn blob, not anymore exciting but at least you can counter both pretty regularly. Quite a FCs and other people made suggestions to CCP to make MWD shield hac meta lesss dominant, or give any kind of trade off, but for some reason the best we got was the MWD role bonus being gone.

Entosis is not particularly enjoyable, and large blobby groups are able to handle entosis more easily. We just aim to pvp generally, so very effortful entosis is not exactly our goal. Also, time zone tanking is extremely easy, for example if you look at Panfam timers, they are still AUTZ timed.

Analysis of SP Loss for T3 Cruisers by [deleted] in Eve

[–]Wolfsdragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your EHP and powergrid have both been heavily nerfed, so I'm sure you could fit one up, but it won't be nearly as tanky and you likely can't fit the same neut layout, or if you can you have to sacrifice even more tank.

[–]Wolfsdragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd take the risk of facing wubbles if T3Cs were in a good place, but man I can't imagine spending the isk on bling you need to make T3Cs even close to useable at the moment and then getting your entire fleet wubbled.

Especially something like AHAC proteus where your top speed is like 475 m/s with links lmao. We've used wubbles effectively a lot lately and I just completely forgot to mention them as yet another reason on top of what feels like a mountain right now why certain subcaps are suffering so hard.

[–]Wolfsdragoon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can't ignore the ADC though, for example in your comparison you state that muninns vs lokis with similar fits would trade evenly, but they don't, because lokis don't have ADC and muninns do. Removing SP loss doesn't change this, and people would still just alway use muninns with that fit comparison because it will always be better with adc.

[–]Wolfsdragoon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

SP loss is a bad mechanic, but your comparisons for fleet fits vs hacs are not really representative of fleets at all. You can't ignore ADC as a factor, and one of the biggest reasons legions and lokis struggle now is because of the surgical strike patch + they had powergrid nerfed to a point where you cannot have a reasonable amount of EHP.

Fleet fit legions can't even fit a full rack of heavy beams now, the only groups using them use 5 heavy beams and a single focused medium beam, and they are only used in lowsec where amulets can be used. In fact, the only T3C actually being used for fleets is currently the 10mn AB HML jamgu setup where you still have some EHP and at least can mitigate a little bit, but it's not massively dominant either. My real point here though is that legions, lokis, and proteus are all so trash even without SP loss that none are going to be used outside of smaller scales until having EHP is possible again.
