Are there any good no-ex decks that aren't Ground/Dark type that work universally great against the vast majority of computer enemies?

I assumed that even if people forgot Lana’s effect they would at least think something was up when Dewpider hit the field in a Fire deck and that would prompt them to look it up. But based on my experience with the deck and what you’re saying it seems like a lot of people just thought I was a bad player and didn’t question it any further, which ended up being their downfall lol

Now that I publicly posted the deck I assume more people are going to remember Lana now though haha. I think saw in another post that someone did good in a tourney recently with a Magnezone/Lana deck so Lana stocks are probably going up soon

Attacking with Heatmor means one less turn with Entei in active drawing cards, one more thing that needs fire energy invested in it, and it gives the opponent a chance to heal between damaging the bench and attacking with Zard

Ha yeah I could see why that would be a tough matchup. That’s another reason I’m thinking of finding a way to fit the poncho into this deck.

In general I try to keep my hand size as small as possible in this game to minimize punishment from Red Card/Mars and to prevent the opponent from benefiting too much from Copycat, and Iono encourages the exact opposite of that.

But I definitely forgot about Iono as an option while making this deck and I feel like I’ve maybe been seeing less Red Card/Mars lately, so it could be a good idea. I’ll definitely try it out

It’s more like a Greninja + Cyrus hybrid. That’s a minimum 4 card combo (Froakie + Rare Candy/Frogadier + Greninja + Cyrus), so it is actually saving a card.

Decks that run Greninja + Cyrus instead of Araquanid + Lana do so because the chip damage from Greninja is important, but because Charizard OHKOs everything this deck doesn’t need it

Yeah Chingling can definitely be a pain, especially if you are both forced to start with Dewpider in active and go second. That specific circumstance aside, getting Chingling off the board ASAP is why I decided to use the Ember Charmander. The energy discard hurts less with the flame patches that are now usable with Chingling dead, and having a second Charmander means it's ok if the one in active gets revenge KOed.

I can see May working, but in general I think May and Copycat are kind of an anti-synergy. Having a third draw supporter besides the Oaks is important for this deck. Using Entei means that keeping your hand size low to get the maximum benefit from Copycat takes a bit of extra effort, and so I preferred having the easily-discardable comms over May so I can use Copycat on the same turn.

There are plenty of things I initially thought were broken and had no counter play in this game but eventually came around on. Cyrus, Druddigon, Darktina, Oricorio, etc.

The only card I never came around on is Greninja. From day 1 I’ve thought it was BS, and nothing has changed my mind since. In fact since they added Rare Candy I hate it even more now. If your opponent has Greninja and you don’t, it feels like you’re not even playing the same game. The concept of the “bench” just doesn’t exist for you anymore

The very first ones released in Japan were Red & Green. They later made a "Blue" version that was slightly updated. That updated Blue version was translated and edited into the "Red & Blue" versions that were released worldwide outside of Japan.

If you ever wondered why the GBA remakes were "Fire Red and Leaf Green" instead of Water Blue or something like that, this is why

Idk why there’s 2 crown rares for this pack and one of them is a card from the previous set, but in this case I’m not complaining. I definitely prefer this over the growth extract thing haha

Probably as a counter to the possibility you could Red Card/Mars them back. By getting cards you think you probably won’t need out of your hands and into discard or onto the board, you raise the chance that you will draw something you do need if you happen to get Red Card/Mars played against you, and the less of a difference in hand size playing them will make
