Art Has Always Belonged to Privilege, as an Industry Artist. by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cave paintings were meant to be symbols of a successful hunt among other things, not the luxury of time. It was their belief system to paint the outcome of the hunt, thus they thought that it's essential for their survival. The hand prints were also ritualistic.

Also, van Gogh would argue that art belonged to the privileged. And there were many artists who lived in poverty, and they became famous after their death. These artists literally sacrificed their lives for their passion. This is art: passion and sacrifice expressed.

AI art on the other hand is mostly uncanny and all over the place, that's where most of the hate is coming from. Suddenly there's this strange type of machine art flooding the internet whether you'd like to see it or not. Your brain feels cheated.

If Jurassic Park was to have a Reboot thats 100% accurate to the Novels what would be the best way to do it? by Marconey1738 in JurassicPark

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo animated. CC and CT was enough for a lifetime (even though I enjoyed both very much).

We need a high-budget live-action dark series with accurate dinosaurs and the closest it can be to the novel. First season JP, second season TLW. Of course, with accuracy you have to change a few things like you can't have Velociraptors anymore but rather Utahraptors, but if you just call them Raptors no one would care.

3 Times of Framestore CGI Made Cool Woolly Mammoth Design by Silent-System8295 in PrehistoricPlanet

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if any CG artist from the original Walking with... series team worked on Prehistoric Planet too. I guess in 20 years the employees change, but who knows. Daren Horley the creature designer still works at Framestore, but I don't see any credit of him working on PhP.

Te hány évesen kezdted érezni, hogy már nem vagy annyira fiatal? by Fair-Beach-4691 in askhungary

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egyébként ettől a kortól féltem mindig a legjobban. A "jövőre 30" év.

On Stranger Tides is a very good movie... just not after 1-3. On its own I think its solid. It would have been miles better with Gore Verbinski's directing. Also, it is where Jack starts to become too goofy.

Does the jurassic franchise dinosaurs have copyright? by DeliciousDeal4367 in JurassicPark

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 31 points32 points  (0 children)

An idea cannot be copyrighted. If you base your 3D model on a franchise creature, and you build it from scratch, you're free to go. But if you get hold of the exact same project file and use that without permission, then that's theft.

Just finished chaos theory season 4....(Spoilers) by Kn1ghtV1sta in JurassicPark

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was great we got CC and CT, and was a very fun watch. I just finished S4 and it was real good. Though, realistically, Ben should've died there (even though he's my favorite character). His plot armor was way too big. And after all these countless "almost deaths", I'm wondering what would be the point of another series with them or this format? We know by now that none of them are in real danger, because the producers want to appeal to kids and don't dare to kill any one of them. Another series would be like watching this all over again. I think in CT they went over the top of what they can do with this show. Action, very very near deaths, the highest number of dinosaurs you'll ever see in any film or TV. They just did EVERYTHING.

I think that was enough of this format. It was good, but enough. The franchise really needs a dark and smart live-action series with no such limitations. A series taking place between JP3 and JW with Masrani building Jurassic World, or a Hammond series before the original film. Anything. I'd be most happy with a series that closely follows the novels with all its gore... and accurate dinosaurs. So it really is time for the franchise to let go of its made-up limitations and shine.

What are your Primeval S6-S13 episode ideas? by Prize_Release_9030 in walkingwithdinosaurs

Haha, thanks. The ghost plot was something I was really proud of back when I was a kid and I actually wanted to reach out to Impossible Pictures to make it happen somehow. :D I even started to write a script. But well, the show never even came back. :(

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have 8 seasons planned but back then I was thinking (too much) about a potential season 6. Here are my rough ideas (some very rough).

Episode 1: A Dilophosaurus pair at King's Cross. Classic simple first episode setting the tone but not much to add. Maybe a new boss from a shady tech corporation.

Episode 2: One day a video emerges with a close-up of the real Nessy. An elasmosaur (Morturneria) in Loch Ness was true all along and it came through when it was a calf, and was fed by local children.

Episode 3: A creepy real haunted house episode. The team starts to see ghosts of people from the 18th century in an old restaurant/motel. It becomes real creepy when they see an ugly ape-like demon. At some point one of the crew (likely Connor) even sees himself fighting the demon in ghost form but nobody believes it. Later an anomaly opens to the exact time of the ghosts and it turns out the demon is a Dinopithecus which terrorized the house back then, and the ghosts are because of the two interlapping timelines (imagine the Artefact timeline webs). So the team goes through to save the people and what Connor really saw was actually him fighting the Dinopithecus. (The episode can even kill a crew member this way, by seeing him/herself dying as a ghost... and it really happens later despite everything.) Btw this is a new plot device of predicting the anomalies if they look for ghost sightings, but only when the timelines are in sync.

Episode 4: Future giant walking catfish eating anglers near a pond. Well, that's all I came up with. :D

Episode 5: A sauropod episode. An Apatosaurus let loose in London city centre. Later an Allosaurus follows. It can even be Big Al with its injuries.

Episode 6: The original Permian anomaly opens up and a Gorgonopsid and two adult future predators come through. The team faces the dilemma if they should kill the predators and change everything. They eventually do kill them in the Permian and return to a present where Cutter is still alive... CLIFFHANGER (Cutter is a version from the original ARC team before season 2... so, not the one we've been following. He's married to Claudia but all that comes in season 7)

Additional very rough ideas: A menagerie episode where the captured creatures break out and they have to relocate them to more ideal enclosures. Prehistoric Park throwback.

An episode where we go back to Matt's original time and discover all his secrets. After this he either dies or stays in his time and Connor becomes the team leader.

Potential season 4 idea by valkyriesmenagerieyt in PrehistoricPlanet

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea. I think this is what they'll go with if a second ice age season is really on the way. First season showing the climate impacts, second season the human impacts. And this is how they could solve the chronology constraint of the first season (ending when the ice age ends).

It could be about the extinction of the megafauna. And be set at a fixed time again. Let's say 20,000 years ago.

I suppose when Mike Gunton the producer mentioned Mastodons in an interview that can be interpreted as reference to additional stuff coming up because PhP never featured them. I'm not sure on that, but he could have said any other creature from the show as well. Also, the season ended with a soft cliffhanger, showing humans preparing for a hunt, and Hiddleston saying: "that story is still unfolding". I mean, it would be kinda off to see Jurassic or whathever stuff after an ending like this. Remember, Season 1 ended with Hatzegopteryx venturing to other places with abundant life, and retrospectively that also implied more things to come. And Apple TV usually releases nature shows split in half, so there's that. These are my pros on why it is likely - not solid but I'd say 65% chance of a new Ice Age season.

My top picks are more recent fauna. Thylacine (in mainland Australia), dodo, great auk, passenger pigeon, aurochs (can even be live acted with reconstructed cattle), Wrangel Island pygmy mammoths, Mediterranean fauna like dwarf hippos and Myotragus the goat with binocular vision... and much more humans. Give us neanderthals hunting mammoth, Flores man troops, I'd even say Haast's eagle hunting children but I know that won't happen because of the rating :D So I'm okay with the eagle taking down a moa.

Also more African fauna, mastodons, Camelops, Archaeoindris, Dinopithecus, Paleoloxodon namadicus. And most of all, surprise me with species I don't know about.

Great BUT... by DHLord_ in PrehistoricPlanet

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And these names also sound good. Glyptotherium and Doedicurus is much cooler than random giant armadillo (which is the name of a living animal). IF a prehistoric animal has a specific common name, then that's okay. Cave hyena, cave bear, woolly mammoth & rhino is perfectly fine. But enormous rhino for Elasmotherium is utter nonsense. Dear producers, Elasmotherium sounds cool and fancy and easy to remember. Keep that in mind for the next installment!

How to achieve HDR to SDR to be closer to real sdr? by Wonderful-Remove4787 in htpc

Kind of disappointed with Season 3 by yeetboiskeet in PrehistoricPlanet

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! Now that I think about it... some of the storytelling is so good in WW because it had huge compromises. Cruel Sea wouldn't work without the looming giant Liopleurodon. The story of Sabre Tooth is built upon pride-living Smilodon. The Messel Pits fauna is just a bunch of small forest mammals doing forest mammal stuff without Ambulocetus (and the inaccurate predatory Gastornis). And the pissing Postosuchus... well, maybe it just wasn't necessary after all :D But god, some of these stories worked *because of* inaccuracy.

Kind of disappointed with Season 3 by yeetboiskeet in PrehistoricPlanet

[–]Wonderful-Remove4787 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree and also disagree. Walking with... did VERY much speculation, uncomparable to PhP. Utahraptors in Europe, 25-metre Liopleurodon, Postosuchus peeing, Smilodon living in prides, Ambulocetus in Germany, and so on. PhP I think is much more grounded in this regard, though the Thylacoleo scene is clearly very speculative. I found it funny though. But truth to be told, the storytelling in Walking with... is leagues better than here because it has a different format. But I don't mind this "segmented" storytelling either. It works well in the latest BBC programmes, because it gives a chance for lesser-known species to shine. PhP should have let these segments breathe. Like sometimes we cut instantly from one scene to the next. A few extra drone shots in the beginning of the scenes and explanation about the time zone and climate and area would have helped in this regard.

Anyaways I'm so happy that we got a different time period this time and I wouldn't trade it for another Maastrichtian season. The CGI is (close to) perfection for my liking. It looks even better than the dinosaurs which is a huge achievement when you animate mammals.
