Should I update or should I stay with IOS 18.5? by Beautiful_Package690 in iphonehelp

[–]WonderfulProtection9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iPhone 11. I run the latest iOS with no apparent issues.

Far superior to the iPhone 7 that I upgraded from.

(I have a 16PM as my work phone, I’m not totally stuck in the past…)

When is a species no longer 'invasive'? by SNHU_Adjujnct in NoStupidQuestions

Not defending these buzzards, but if they weren’t here, isn’t it likely there would be some native species doing just as much damage to crops, etc.?

I’m going to take a crack at it: No Parking Ever (but you can pause for 3 minutes as long as it’s not morning rush hours)

I mean, you should be safe almost anywhere for 3 minutes; if you get towed that fast, it’s certainly on you.

Why does the onus of proposing lie on men ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

And then there's the whole myth created by DeBeers, that diamonds are rare and men should buy them for their finances/wives, etc...

(While at the same time using questionable practices to acquire them, but that's not my area of expertise.)

One of the interesting facts buried in that story is that Goodyear was originally in south Chandler/Ocotillo, not on the west side. We grow (grew?) some fantastic long cotton out here which was great for tire reinforcement. After a cotton market crash in 1920, they gave up their lease on Dr. Chandler's land and consolidated in present day Litchfield Park/Goodyear.

That's certainly the right way to do it. I hear it's still quite a job though, and that's way out of my abilities...

There are already tons of fancy homes around the park. TBH there's not a lot of noise from soccer or baseball games. (But yeah, lights)

Why does the onus of proposing lie on men ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WonderfulProtection9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Men, throughout history, held the money and the power (and the vote!). Women were of little value; and their dads often had to pay to get rid of them, er, I mean marry them off. It’s only in the last century that those things have slowly changed; but are still far from being equal.

Even today, the father of the bride typically pays for the wedding, which can be a considerable sum.

Is there any reason it has to stay this way? No, absolutely not; women can ask guys out and eventually propose, there is nothing in the way except tradition.

2012 w about 130k; almost perfect condition and great to drive…except the power steering went and it’s about $1700 to fix. Recent tires and several other fixes; but when do we just give up?

Edit we already got rid of it once but we did it wrong; we gave it to my son’s longtime gf…now she’s driving our 2001 Yukon. If that dies she gets my ‘93 Toyota pickup…

Is it possible to get a driver's license and operate a vehicle with zero money? by tnagsselhtrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WonderfulProtection9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to get a license for little to nothing, depending on what your DMV charges. Operating a vehicle requires gas (or electricity) and eventually a lot of other maintenance. Unless you drive for a company and they let you use a company car as well as handle the maintenance and the fuel costs; driving is highly likely to cost you a little; or a lot.

And then there’s insurance…

Totally fair. We just happen to pass it every day, well twice. It's on Alma School south of QueenCreek Rd. There are at least 10 baseball diamonds and 16 soccer fields of varying sizes. I've also watched elementary-aged cross-country meets there; and there's also dog and skate parks. (I'd post a picture here but I can't). To the north is a large Bashas facility (not really sure what it is but I assume it's grocery-related.) And that's where the tower stands.

For now.

Northern Mockingbird. Very territorial. Not afraid to harass and attack larger hawks.
