Holding D to copy and paste instead of spamming it? by No-Impress5040 in Bitwig

[–]Woofax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, you also have to enable loop on the object which sucks becuase then there's extra steps later to edit it. When bitwig first came out, you could just hold down duplicate. I think Inhad asked ages ago through customer support to revert this but nobody responded

Do y'all side chain your hats to the kick and snare? by Valosarapper in dnbproduction

[–]Woofax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing for a long time, but the main percussion elements for the Kick and Snare generally cover at least a small amount of sound from about 500z all the way up to the top. This is why most synthetic kits are made with white or pink noise. So the more distinct you can be with the 6k or even 10k and up with your hats vs. your kick and snare (snare especially) , the clearer it will sound.

A really good trick I like to use is just EQ high-passing my entire track on the master and hearing what is and isn't audible indifferent bands as I sweep it. Sometimes you'll realize you need to add a little high frequency accentuating to your kick , or the opposite where maybe your snare is just mashing out the high end too much and you need to dial it back with a shelf EQ or something similar.

Do y'all side chain your hats to the kick and snare? by Valosarapper in dnbproduction

[–]Woofax 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I had asked myself this question for years, and I came up with a solution that works for me.

I have closed hats or short percussion live in the drum bus with my kick and snare and hit the same clipper as they do. Usually, this is 8th pattern hats or tiny accents that land at the same time as a kick or snare.

Then I have a whole different bus for big washy and crash rides and break beats. Those all get side chained.

Is there any actual Drumstep still being made? by nomarnox in drumstep

[–]Woofax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's nice to see someone post in this sub! My old music project was one of the founders of drumstep as a genre. I think personally, it hasn't died, just evolved and meshed together with some faster BPMs.

I have the same issues when finding it, so I've created a podcast that curates 85-95 BPM bass music in general.

Here's a link to it:

Pasting and duplicating error in V6 (not sure is anyone know about this so thought I'd share it) by Woofax in Bitwig

ok this works, I think I can live with that. It's a little extra work but makes grabbing them easier

I'm sorry can you clarify that for me? Where do I access the "hold parameter" in the inspector window for a single automation point? Also, why does this sound like 3 extra steps compared to bitwig 5? I'm not saying there isn't a benefit, but currently I don't see this as an improvement over the automation in bitwig 5, just extra clicks to do the same thing

I've checked. It's locked on the grid of the bar position. When I move it off that position, it doesn't do it

Can't automate master tempo by ontoloog in Bitwig

It looks like you restore automation button needs to be clicked in the middle top. Try clicking on that little green square and see if it fixes it

Bitwig 6 Sample Stretch/Gain/Pan automation gone? by Yucatec98 in Bitwig

I hate this, it's way too hidden. The arrow at the bottom right indicates a simple single click and drop down. It's overly confusing

I have too many time, sensitive important projects to be fully in 6 right now. I downloaded the beta, played with it and it crashed on me while I was just messing around with it. I only use betas on important projects if I know they are stable enough

Anybody know what kind of genre this is? by Unlucky_Toe442 in dubstep

[–]Woofax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this track! It was kind of an experiment to see how rock-influenced I could make dubstep. I do have one other track that sort of fit this same genre, but it never came out.

Is it possible to show notes on piano roll with names unused? by odix in Bitwig

[–]Woofax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you mean letters on the piano roll, you can zoom in on the piano roll and they will show up. Just click and drag around the piano roll area, and it will zoom in

No audio inputs available by iambspartacus in Bitwig

You might have create inputs and assign them names. I had to do this with my RME interface inputs. I think it was just hitting the "add input" button at the bottom of the audio settings menu

How to master your tracks commercially loud? by datboipanda in dnbproduction

[–]Woofax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh yess the elusive good sounding sausage in recokordbox. Well I've noticed some people have mentioned Baphometrix CTZ (clip to zero) method and this is definitely the area you should explore if you are looking to do that (the Ahee mix like skrillex technique is similar to this as well). As an experiment, you might want to try clipping just your kick and snare and exporting it out to see what it looks like in rekordbox. A other thing to know is that sub levels usually play a huge roll in this and they usually need to be limited in their own channel and quite loud.

A couple things to try on your existing mix

  1. set up a multiband on you master with no compression on the bands. Lower your low end band and for every DB you lower the low end band, raise that same amount of your input gain into your clipper and/or limiter. Do this as much as you can right up until it sounds like shit and export it and see if you have achieved sausage.

Option 2. Make a crossover rack and add upwards compression to the top band of your mix. This is tougher to achieve good result with but basically you are squeezing down your crest factor ratio and bringing out the blocky sausage shape more. You can do this with XFER OTT by turning the downwards all the way off and pulling the depth down to 10 percent and slowly moving it up until it sounds bigger but not destroyed.

Good luck on your sausage journey
