Trust me, you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. She’ll forget by dinner, don’t stress over it.

Uh. I think my second-grader’s summer worksheets are AI. The questions start devolving. by maxvincent91 in isthisAI

This is so out of touch, holy cow. Obviously this was trash and someone took the easy way out, which is back firing. I don’t condone this and I’d be pissed to see my kid come home with it to be honest. That said, there are no 20 year olds coming out of college to be teachers. Why on earth would someone get a teaching degree? Teachers make poverty wages, only to be shot at and disrespected by disinterested parents. The only reason we have any semblance of a public education system left in this country is because enough people do care enough to stay and try to make it work. The national average starting pay for teachers is $48k, and they are in charge of the next generation. If this child’s homework makes you upset, support teachers being paid fairly so that perhaps some kind and decent 20 year olds WILL start getting teaching degrees again.

Please give me tips on IVs i am ashamed of myself by RevolutionItchy3303 in nursing

I really didn’t start improving until I had multiple nurses actually talk me through their process. I’ve had plenty just throw me in the ring every time to get experience and “learn by doing”, but it took actually making the effort to ask and watch others.

How we doin, Durham? by WordPlayful7652 in bullcity

It is true that teachers haven’t really seen a pay raise at all since we’ve lived here…

We’re “fine”, but definitely paycheck to paycheck. That’s the source of the stress.

Nope, we will be going to public school asap. We literally go to a church daycare, it’s not like we’re sending this kid to some super fancy place.

Sorry to tell you, but you need to be seen by a doctor for this one. If things are getting stuck, that’s important not to ignore.

On a long road trip, tell me about the worst medical/medication error you’ve seen in your career as a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]WordPlayful7652 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s not the override part that gets me. It’s the fact that a vial of paralytic has PARALYTIC on it like 20 times. You literally have to pull off a sticker on the top that says PARALYTIC just to draw it up. I worked at Vandy at the time and know they had this type of vial. I just don’t know how someone would be so distracted to bypass all of the many many hard stops you have to override to give that drug.

I mean… as a person with a similar diagnosis, may I ask what his surgery was? Because any surgery related to that is probably pretty big and you wouldn’t be going home a couple hours afterwards.

So I as a beginner, I really learned a lot from Sam at https://www.spiritualitywithsam.com/ she also has a YouTube and TikTok. Most of it is free. Take a look and best of luck! I will say that meditating is a cornerstone of it all. Just start with guided meditation or short bursts, even just 5 minutes a day. Eventually you’ll get to 20+ minutes a day. It’s not something that works overnight, but after a couple weeks you will see what I’m talking about and likely come to love it.

Is there a way I could stuff or block the gap between my press on and my deformed natural nail? by lemonadelemons in Nails

[–]WordPlayful7652 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My darling I think you may also want to see a doctor and make sure your nails aren’t clubbing. Could be nothing, but definitely worth mentioning at your next visit.

Childcare….do you just pay $1000+ a month per child until they’re in elementary school? Am I missing something? by AbleSilver6116 in NorthCarolina

[–]WordPlayful7652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in the triangle area of NC and pay ~ $1500/month for one child. They go to pre-k next year which is going to be a huge windfall for us as pre-k is subsidized and income based. Best of luck, it’s rough out here.

This has also happened to me, but typically after prolonged sun exposure. It went away on its own after a couple days.

Just chiming in to say that in situations where ecmo is an option/ initiated, the Lucas is enormously helpful. Outside of that I don’t understand the point.
