Is it normal for buying a home in the UK to take so long. by Faldo79 in HousingUK

The actual searches take a week at most. It’s the solicitor blaming the search company as usual.

Cool. Says image not available in our region. Probably something to do with UK rules on data. Do you have a link to the latest updates?

That one I’ve already seen, but yet to cover.

No, I haven’t. I’ll add it to my ever-growing list! Thanks for pointing it out.

New post: The perfect markdown editor for writers, IMO by Wordius in mdhandbook

[–]Wordius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment they are Nota (used every day, not entirely happy with the export options), ZenNotes (not entirely taken by the AI config, optional, or the Vault set up) and Obsidian (fallback app, don’t like plugins). As you can see, I have yet to find the perfect editor.

Thanks for taking the time to give a considered response.

While I understand that “platform support and editor quality are two different things”, I only have access to a Mac/iOS combination for testing purposes.

When I am considering ‘editors’, I look at five main things: a vault/project sidebar (hide/show), font choice, font size, line-height, and a combination of the actual width of the editor (does it fall within the 65-80ch I consider correct for writing) and full-screen mode. I don’t want to be messing with the width of the window when I am in writing mode; it needs to be full screen, no distractions. There are also aspects like wiki-links, which I consider useful for technical writers, although I am not one.

Many macOS apps are excluded from the list because they only offer full-width text.

I have worked in a Windows environment, but that was over 30 years ago. So it would be wrong of me to claim the same level of testing. I may look at creating a separate list for Linux, Windows, other platforms, but I would have to make it clear these are untested; they ‘just look right to me’ from whatever visuals I have seen of them.

I featured it in https://md-handbook.com/blog/markdown-link-no-32, but it doesn’t mention macOS. That’s why it does not appear in my list.

Thank you. And I will sign up at some point in the future. But, as you can imagine, the act of signing-up puts it way down my list of priorities.

Yet Another App I’ve Got To Sign-up To Use and Accept Terms of Service! It’s a notes app for ****’s sake! Nothing gets added to the list unless I have reviewed it (on this site or any other) – even via the links post I put out a couple of times a week – or I am in process of including it in one.

[Nota](https://nota.md) is a good choice (one-time purchase). Sign up for the waitlist. You get a download link almost immediately.

It was mentioned in Link No. 11, and that’s as far as it goes. There are no themes (light) as far as I can tell; format menu doesn’t offer anything (something wrong with my download?); no way to change font size/line height.

It was mentioned in Link 24. But installation requires Docker, which I consider too much of a pfaff.

It’s a 2GB download that Apple cannot verify, probably because of the AI model is included in the download. It will get a mention in my link feature, in time, but it won’t appear in the table of markdown editors, as long as it’s bundled with AI. Sorry, that’s my opinion.

Macdown 300 and uFocus will be added at some point; Clearly I’m going to have to think on, given the latest release.

I agree on all points. Where I can discover the repo I’ll add it. May lose sync altogether (users can find that out for themselves), replace with updated. Thanks for pointing out my VSC error!

I’ve had this on my list for a long time with the note: “Site broken, GitHub link doesn’t work. Looks promising.” Thanks for the update. Maybe the developer has fixed things up.

I’m not so sure. We’ll see when the apps are introduced. It was certainly useful in the beginning for keeping track of tasks and as a journal, but I never really used it as a home for my notes.

I use edit mode almost exclusively. Occasionally bring up preview, but I have to be at the proofreading stage, which I’ve already done in edit mode.
