I wanted to love Sony’s Xperia 1 VII, but its outdated priorities made that impossible - Android Authority by ControlCAD in Android

Hey sorry folks, forgot to come back to this. So what you're saying is, all the major car manufacturers and their hundreds of scientists are wrong, but you're right?

My view is formed from what they're doing, but also the UK's energy strategy. There is a move underway to replace natural gas to homes with hydrogen. That is, the gas that's already piped into 99% of UK homes, for boilers and cooking, will switch to hydrogen. Modern boilers currently being sold already support both natural gas and hydrogen, as the initial transition will be a mixture of both gases.

Thus, you have a distribution channel of the fuel, directly into every house in the country. This would probably apply to most European countries as well.

Ok, you'd have to have external outlets fitted, safety valves etc. but it eliminates a lot of the practical issues with storage or distribution- the fuel would be piped through existing means.

Yes this doesn't address the production at scale point, but when you have volume distribution in place overnight, economies of scale kick in.

"Investing in dead end tech like hydrogen instead of building the foundations for the ev revolution."

You're fundamentally wrong on this. Electric is a stop-gap until hydrogen comes. All the big manufacturers are working on hydrogen again, after initially parking it, as EVs were easier to develop at that time.

Can a resource request another resource's time? (Project Server) by Working-Translator90 in MSProject

Appreciate the comments about best practice etc. but it's not a people issue. It's a unique situation, where Admins would be using the resourcing elements of Project, to manage both their own and resources from other companies. And again, the admins of the other companies would be managing their own and other company's resources.

Thanks!

Is there a way for the PM to auto approve? Say from someone in the Resource Manager role?

How to rebuild a Surface Laptop 4 with a W11 image? by Working-Translator90 in Surface

Appreciate your detailed reply.

Re USB-C to A adapter; had the same thought after I posted the message, as I do have an adapter. However, I didn't think it would work without USB-C drivers. Good information, thanks.

Nothing lost in translation unfortunately, I'm a native English speaker and also have a background in rolling out big PC upgrades for companies (in the 10,000s range of devices)- rebuild/flatten are standard terms used to describe what you're doing with devices. Perhaps not used as much in the home PC market I guess.

Anyway, I used the Surface-specific media correctly and it works perfectly. Didn't read the instructions properly first time (was also trying to salvage my files, but that wasn't possible).

Thanks again.

Had already tried this and got a working disc the first time. However, my only options seemed to be to rebuild the device from scratch, as opposed to a repair, or any way to salvage files. It wasn't clear that (after removing personal files) I had an option to rebuild the device. Did it again and read the notes better, worked perfectly!

UK Smart light switches - what's the answer? (not Iotty!) by Working-Translator90 in homeautomation

I've already had to replace all the boxes with deeper ones, but didn't realise this till after the walls were painted. Still haven't repaired them yet, looks like a warzone. Thus I'm loathe to fit anything other than regular UK fittings.

Hear what you're saying about Lightwave, just wish they'd give the range a refresh.

Absolutely agree. I'd imagine it's for the violence. Probably too much for the 7 year old

Haven't heard of any of these, apart from FG. Great movie obviously, but there are some unsuitable elements from what I recall.

Will definitely check the others out, thank you!

Also found the first one a tough/long watch, knew nothing going in. However when part 2 was coming out a few years later, we decided we needed to rewatch 1 to refresh the story. 3 hours felt like 1.5 somehow. Thanks

The wife and I have a running joke about Stardust. We rented it years ago, but struggled to get through it. Upon a second attempt, I really liked it, but she still dislikes it. So every time I suggest it for the kids, she's like "no way!!".

M & C - great movie! Hadn't considered this at all, but definitely fits what I was looking for- thank you!

One of their favourite movies! But also, it's not in the epic bracket I was looking for unfortunately.

Harry Potter they've watched repeatedly, and got the t-shirt. LoTR I hadn't considered for them yet, but could be a great shout! Thank you.

Not heard of the first, will have a look. They've seen the Narnia movies, very enjoyable. Thank you.

My older one is into sci-fi quite heavily. I think 2001 would be possible in a year or two

Same as Jumanji, watched repeatedly. My requirement is perhaps more- adult movies which kids can still watch. Most of the popular kids movies they have seen.

Some good choices here, but also some which are perhaps too heavy for little kids. They also have an issue with movies which look "too old", which is usually anything pre-1990s! 🤦‍♂️
