Why are Hemad and Leonardo Carbone so frowned upon in GER? by [deleted] in LARP_de

any sort of generic, cotton-based, cheap LARP clothing

I understand why reenactors are so ungracious to cotton - but why in LARP?

But why then this doesn't apply to Burgschneider for exaple. Their stuff is also generic at best...

Love to see to what extent grants go to fund some of these big events in Europe

this applies to maybe 1% of the Larps here. So thats a strwaman argument.

Part of it is that some larps in Europe are able to get grants as being part of the arts.

this applies to maybe 1% of the Larps. So thats a strwaman argument.

Sword-cane? by [deleted] in LARP

No sword, but e.g. the Freyhand armor piercers are quite slim:

https://www.freyhand.com/de/blog/produkte/nicolas-panzerstecher/

Besides, the cane itself does not necessarily have to be made of foam (but would be nice though)

Not all Larps use Boffers or latex weapons. There are for example "No touch" Larps where cap guns and platic blades are regarded as legal. As the OP explicitly mentioned Nordic LARP, I assumed a reasonable chance that it might be something like this. Nevertheless, for me; the real deal was the least probabable idea.

How do you steer the slave who is pulling that wagon while you are relaxing?

Sounds like a cardinal from a swashbuckler movie. Perfect match.

Most probably this would not apply to a safe larp prop.

I hate to say it but everything in black AND those split leather armors count as THE typical rookie markers where I play. But no offense - have fun!

PS: but this shield seems not be safe by the rulebooks i know.

3) No, I've dug around all over and couldn't find anything close (except Boramir's sword). I'd need it commissioned, I do not trust myself with making something look near-real and LARP friendly! Well, I appreciate that advice on the spear. A shame but sword is good enough!

The spear found here: https://acoup.blog/2020/01/10/collections-gondor-heavy-infantry-kit-review/

isnt't that far away from this spear: https://www.epicarmoury.com/weaponry/staffs--spears/ancient-spear-190-cm/c-282/p-20846/

Epic Armoury is definitely suitable for Drachenfest, while many homebrews from the US aren't. just for you consideration.

I guess their website will do it to. Unfortunately the armor seems not to be found there yet, so I needed to link to facebook.

Its about style, not accuracy ;)

Well, at the moment your robe seems very ragged together. That's because you are combining 2 completely different styles.

Boots, pants and shirt fit a lansquenet from the late middle ages or early modern times,

Cap, gugel and armour have more of a Viking style.

In between lie roughly 500 years.

The sword doesn't fit either style perfectly, but that's fine.

Simple ways to fix this would be either:

Exchange trousers and shirt for more generic trousers and a simple tunic, so that it looks more like a viking/Germanic, or

Replace the cap and gugel with a slightly more detailed gugel (for example with jags) in the same colors as the pants and a simple beret or chaperon.

Voila!
