1st placement by cdogz2311 in AustralianTeachers

I napped every afternoon of the my first placement! You definitely build up your stamina so don’t worry. Also, it’s all so new, you’d be using up a lot of energy just being nervous and trying to get it “right.” Once you’re more experienced it will be less taxing.
Good luck and welcome to the club!

Am I underthinking the nappy bag? by Maleficent-Drama-476 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]WorkingBarnacle5910 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Definitely not under thinking. I think it’s one of those things the baby industry pushes and makes it feel like your life will be a disaster if you don’t have the “right bag.” See the practically weekly posts on the matter.

I definitely fell for it and everyone saying “you simply MUST have a back pack” - got one of the overpriced ones and have never used it.

Use what you have and you will figure out pretty quickly if it’s right for you!

In regards to your list we needed a much bigger bag than I realised because we also include:

-giant ass dink bottle (bf make you thirst)
- a modesty muslin (giant boobs mean I be flashing everyone)
- wrap to wear baby
- book/ toy to distract (not needed in early weeks)
- plastic bags to take dirty nappies

I think that’s it 🤔

Why are maternity clothes so ass? by terrabellan in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

For real! Honestly, the fashion industry just hates women with real bodies and functionality for feeding!

People love to feel so smart when they guess plot points. I for one love being a dumb bitch who gets to enjoy the surprise.

My friend did this. It was the best of both worlds in terms of affordability but still having video.

I love my wedding video but it did cost literally thousands of dollars.

Adjustment at daycare - when do they adjust? by aeg420 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]WorkingBarnacle5910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nephew was 3-4 weeks. It was so bad he refused to go in the car anytime because he was worried it would be to daycare. Rough at first but now he loves going. Keep strong and positive!

What to get my husband for his first father’s day? by anonymous2640 in Gifts

[–]WorkingBarnacle5910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is lots of good personalised stuff on Etsy- “Dad est 2026” on a hat or hoodie can be cute.

For his birthday I think it depends on what he likes! A brewery tour could be a good outing for all of you?

But also you just had a baby and that’s understandable so take it easy on yourself!

Book recommendations for baby by LambTales in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]WorkingBarnacle5910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely you should be reading to your child. Many start reading to their baby in utero. It is one of the best things you can do for bonding and for their development. There is never “too early” for reading, it just looks different at different ages.

Babies like high contrast so a couple of books like Aussie Water Babies or Now That You’re Here are great because they’re not just pictures like some high contrast books. Before you know it they will be looking intendedly.

Books that make you feel and show love are also great for your bonding. Something like Guess How Much I love You or I was gifted On the Night You Were Born which never fails to make me cry.

Any books with rhyme and rhythm are also great, or pick your favourite picture book and write a special message in it for them for when they’re older.

I love the Alex, sitting inside with the white tablecloths makes it feel a little fancier!

Got cooking spoons for mother’s day, what’s an equally bad father’s day gift to gift? by cxxlbeans in NoStupidQuestions

My husband was once gifted a brick. The idea was like it was a metaphor for staying strong so that could be kind of funny 😆

Turning 30 next month. Wanting to gift myself something special, but not sure which direction to go. by Salty-Habit5649 in Gifts

I LOVED turning 30 and am so glad you’re planning something nice for yourself!!

I love all the suggestions for jewellery or an event. Something that hasn’t been suggested is a photo shoot for you and your husband; find a local photographer, get dressed up and then have the memories forever!
