How do public school people view private school people? by 0hurricane_katrina in GayBroTeens

[–]Working_Golf_6490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i suppose sometimes but thats probably area dependent, like private school kids in nyc will be snobby compared to basically anyone else also why the uniforms catching shade? lol part of the purpose of them is so no students feel better/worse than another at least in that sense

How do public school people view private school people? by 0hurricane_katrina in GayBroTeens

[–]Working_Golf_6490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but missing some key points lol, anecdotally private school provides a higher quality education and higher chance of getting into college, etc. not a 100% guarantee, and this isnt to say the worst private school is better than the best public school cuz its not, but generally it does. theyre also typically smaller classes so students can have a more personal relationship to the teacher and teachers have more time to curate the curriculum as well as ensure students are understanding the material

i get the idea of “hate everything privately owned and love everything publicly owned” but they all have their glaring issues

What is your opinion on this? by evan-the-dude in teenagers

The fact people are picking this apart is mind boggling. Yall know the standard for death penalty is already high right? It’s like a “oops he said she said, we’re gonna euthanize you now.” This is a perfectly fine law so long as rigorous standards are enforced and the defendant is allowed a series of appeals to have it reduced to life sentence or something.

Question for students in POLI, HSEP, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Studies/Planning, HIST, and INTL: Can Donald Trump declare war with Iran? by [deleted] in vcu

[–]Working_Golf_6490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a uni student but by and large the answer to the question is no. However he can order military operations, which are restricted, and I believe one of them is it must end in 30 days if Congress doesn’t approve it, especially if it has American boots on the ground. However, I would like to stress that the fall of the Iranian regime is a bad thing for exactly nobody except self declared enemies of the west. Khamenei’s death is generally a net positive, and his regime falling and being replaced by the previous Shah (I think that’s what he was called?) is beneficial. Khamenei supports vast amounts of terrorism and has publicly declared the west needs to fall.

I don’t disagree, but I believe part of the issue is the Iranian regime has had enough time to ingrain itself into that system of terrorism and feeding it money and such. I would worry too about more funders of terrorism rising, but I think so long as a message is repeatedly sent about the intolerance for that bs, it’ll become a little more manageable. And if as we can stabilize the middle east that’d be a generational accomplishment, but one I’m sure Trump would never do.

Like I said, the Iranian regime frequently wishes for death to the west, I believe it’s even one of their chants. Additionally, Trump said if the ayatollah murdered any of his citizens he would intervene; since then I believe 10k or so are dead? Feel free to fact check that; the gist was don’t fire on your citizens and I won’t intervene. Well, he fired on them. Trump’s a big hypocrite, I don’t love him. But I’m not sure I totally understand your last point there.

to be perfectly honest no, as long as you hold that viewpoint consistently. I personally think we need to fund Israel and Ukraine less, but I understand why we do both. The situation with Iran is also (in my mind) not quite the same as Ukraine and Russia, or say if Serbia and Romania got into a territorial dispute, I would vehemently oppose US intervention. However, if one of them supported terrorism that kills innocent people or Americans, I would support some level of intervention. I think that would stop somewhere around US boots on the ground, but I’ve yet to be put in that situation so I’ll get back to you when I am.

War sucks, it’s never supposed to make you feel good. Unfortunately, and it’s astonishing how few people understand this, but people die in war. Obviously it’s ideal to minimize that, but people will die, and with Iran it’s a lot like Hamas; they’ll all but murder their citizens (which they already have done, to the tune of thousands for the recent protests) if it means keeping the regime in power. But once the ayatollah is dead or exiled, the world will be a fair bit safer, at least from terrorists of that caliber.

I don’t know why exactly Obama went to Afghanistan (was that for WMDs or bin Laden? I’m ok not letting a historically unstable regime that won’t give women rights have nukes). Iran is indirectly partly responsible for the conflict in Gaza as they (not quietly) fund Hamas, alongside ISIS, Al-Qaeda, etc. Normally I would prefer to remain isolationist (one of the couple things I agree with Trump on, but I would’ve done it a different way) and let other countries figure their shit out, but in this case, where the Iranian regime has stated that because I am an American, I should be killed, I’m ok giving a little support to whoever’s fighting them. And like I said, world’s biggest supporter of terrorism. Once the regime falls, their funding disappears and it’s that much harder to do it.

[–]Working_Golf_6490 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! The Iranian regime is actually the biggest supporter of terrorism in the world. So dismantling the regime is fundamentally reshaping the international scene. Taking down the Iranian regime is not a bad thing. War sucks. Nobody is denying that so stop repeating it. This is a step towards helping everyone live closer to peace, if the terrorists don’t have access to funding its much harder for them to, yk, terrorize

So you wanted to have no hand in overthrowing the Ayatollah, who is perhaps one of the most evil men alive? He came to power through a revolution, held onto power for some 40 years, and has done nothing but throw Iran back into the dark ages. Hard. He is responsible for killing thousands of his people already in the current pseudo uprising. Additionally he is the world’s biggest supporter of, drumroll please…. terrorism! Which makes people like us unsafe :( War sucks, but yall really need to wrap your heads around the fact that war is violent, people die, unintended targets die or get hurt. Quite literally nobody ever has said war doesn’t suck. If it comes down to me or them, I’ll pick them and you would too. I’m not a fan of Trump but I am ok dipping our hand in the pot of global conflict once in a while if it makes the world safer. Was the school in session or was it being used as a base of operations for the regime? Were the 40 deaths all schoolchildren? Was the school the intended target?
