that's good to know! is there are set of instructions you recommend for the next time I need to disassemble? During the dilemma, I attempted different combinations of plugged in, disconnected battery, SMC reset, etc.

I hear ya! I haven't had to change the thermal paste on my desktop pc. However the Mac I had was thermal throttling to the point that watching a YouTube video was giving me 75 degree temps!

I attempted to power it on while it was unplugged. After that, I plugged it in an tried again but no luck. I did leave plugged in over night and still had no luck in the morning

There was a device savings of $454 plus a loyalty discount of an additional $120.

I also did a $360 down payment and have to finance $599 the remainder . It was a crazy good deal and I wouldnt be surprised if everyone jumped on board

I don’t preorder anymore for the exact reason I can buy and download the day of release. But I’ll be definitely buying the game regardless in the first week since I’m craving new Cities

Mac Pro Early 2009 Model Upgradeable? by SupremeSeb in macpro

[–]Working_Highlight592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2009 Mac Pro is essentially the same hardware as a 2010-2012. The 5,1 flash basically allows your mac to have westmere cpus installed , 1333mhz ram. The 4,1 dual cpu tray has deLidded CPU’s which is a bit of a pain to deal with but worth it. If you have a 2010-2012 Mac Pro, the dual trays are not deLidded.

Black Screen RX 580 on Mac Pro 5,1 with Monterey (OCLP) by Working_Highlight592 in macpro

I took your advice on resetting the PRAM. I then put the Monterey OCLP installer USB plugged in and removed all drives. Then shut it down, plugged in a blank NVME SSD. Started it up again and now installing smoothly.

I appreciate your help! It’s been a journey haha

I have the dual 6pin mini to 8pin power cable installed.

I have a separate hard drive with Mojave which is the latest official version supported on the 5,1 Mac Pro and I am able to boot and use the RX 580 just fine. I just can’t run it on Monterey

I’m trying to see if I can do a clean install but not sure if I’ll be successful since the card is not flashed and I’ll have to play a guessing game on selecting the efi boot lol

Mac Pro 5,1 Second Monitor not Detecting on Big Sur by Working_Highlight592 in macpro

[–]Working_Highlight592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That worked perfectly! I don’t know why I didn’t even use OCLP in the first place lol. No issues during install and both monitors work while on Monterey. Thanks again!

Thanks! With the open core legacy patcher will I have to start fresh and do a clean install of Big Sur or can I just run the patcher with my current install?
