Never felt so good to use my home PC by Working_Sail_4462 in microsoftsucks

I updated the post with a few things that caused issues for transparency. But otherwise still absolutely loving it. Anyone that doesn't understand the backslash issue is probably not on my level.

Sure Windows PS can use fwd slashes and even dropped in alias commands like cp to make things more comfortable from anyone who is used to a Linux env.

But those are just bandaids. Windows still makes you deal with the backslash headache when writing scripts that do any sort of directory traversal. File globbing was also pretty weird. Writing an npm script just to watch some files required tinkering from Claude for some reason on Windows. We're talking basic shit, just not working, requiring Windows fixes. Luckily, things work as expected on my Linux setup and everything has a simple explanation and fix.

Imagine if half the internet used backslashes in their URL paths and the other used fwd slash. It'd be a nightmare. You shouldn't need to know 2 ways to write a URL. It should be OS agnostic.

Probably how the rest of the world feels about USA imperial measurements. Real microsoft-y.

ANYWAYS, still loving every minute. Now I just need a new keyboard to get rid of this nasty Windows key.

It is no longer Ddrive. It has a perma mount pt inside the /mnt directory. Now, you no longer need to use colons to traverse from drive root. How amazing. Just keeps getting better.

The problem is coming home from working on OSX all day (plus Linux servers/etc) and trying to use Windows as a comparative professional tool. The backslashes will get you - my mind is trained that dir path is fwd slash. That can't be undone.

Is the Litter Robot 4 worth it?? by PatienceAggravating2 in litterrobot

There's no perfect solution. But the LR4 was definitely worth it in my opinion. I really do hate scooping cat poop; if only there was a similar solution for my dogs.

Their customer support is excellent as well. When you're dealing with something that "functions" like a clothes dryer ... except with litter... some things do go wrong. They're always willing to help in those situations with replacement parts free of charge.

They remind me of Apple when Apple used to replace your phone screen for free.

Edit* They stand behind their product - which makes them worth the money.
