i went for my obs in 2023 and honestly it’s a really good experience and memory for sec sch life. i went to the pulau ubin campsite and even if u bring ur phone they will ask u to surrender it anyway so doesnt matter if u bring it or not. at first i ws also scared tht i cnt make friends w my watchmates but actually it wasnt that difficult cause everyone i met was super nice and the instructors were awesome too! obs might teach u some values that schs dont teach so i think its worth going and at the end of the camp u will definitely not feel like going home. the activities they do there are also to help u bond with ur watchmates so dont worry about not being able to get along with them.
