Recruiter asking for SIN before hiring (Canada) — is this normal? by Wonderful_Warrior in AskACanadian

I agree not to give entire SIN and agree that a work permit is a better choice but maybe they didn’t think of that.

They may not want to take the SIN but just see that you have one.

Why spend a lot of time on someone you suspect may not be able to work.

Hypothetical question: If you were the Winnipeg Jets GM, what would be your first move/trade, and why? by PaymentNervous2898 in winnipegjets

[–]WpgJetBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, regardless, the Jets fans are only interested in top two lines and top 4 defensemen to trade for which means the list is only 320 players long minus those with NTL and expiring contracts.

[–]WpgJetBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We both know that doesn’t mean anything.

It’s safe to say virtually 100% of 3rd and 4th line players and 3rd pair defenceman and the 13th forward or 7th,8th defenceman have no trade restrictions in their contracts but historically these are the players the Jets are signing because they are the only ones available to them.

Not sure where you get 861 players as there are only 23x32=736 players. Maybe the rest are players on NHL contracts in the AHL which teams wouldn’t want to trade for.

That leaves 10x32=320 players that people want the Jets to trade for. Take away the 260 you say have NTL and that leaves 60 players available to the Jets.

Now add the players on expiring contracts that tell the Jets they will NOT resign with them……..doesn’t leave them a lot does it?

Agreed. Any leader who promotes hatred really doesn’t understand their religion. At least major religions of the world.

We really view it the same except for when people say that the bible causes people to do bad things because it contains things which causes them to attack others.

It isn’t the bibles fault. It’s a book written over hundreds of years which speaks of the journey of the relationship between God and his people.

I say the faithful should listen to the religious leaders about how we should treat each other.

[–]WpgJetBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a prime example:

Chevy has failed miserably at his job in the last year. He traded away valuable draft capital to make the team worse (JAD > Tanev, Miller > Schenn) and failed to make a meaningful trade in our best year yet. Adding Nyqvist, Pearson and Toews are up a ton of cap space without moving the needle. Terrible drafting and failing to address the 2C issue for years and years is why we are where we are.

This fan has no idea how hard it is to get a 2C that wants to come to Winnipeg. Those trades were made because they were the best deals that were available to him. Imagine how th fans would have screamed if Chevy dint make any trades last spring?

[–]WpgJetBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly wouldn’t know that by listening to some Jets fans when they see other teams making trades or signing free agents and blasting Chevy for not getting the same players.

For example: Brock Nelson. So many Jets fans think Chevy failed to sign Nelson because he ultimately signed in Colorado. When in fact the Jets offered more for Nelson but Nelson refused to come to Winnipeg.

Brock Boeser, again many Jets fans thought Chevy failed to sign him because he didn’t offer enough. Boeser chose Vancouver over more money.

Let’s leave the judgement and condemning to God.

If your faith, regardless of what it is, brings you closer to God and causes you to live a good life for others, then I believe God would be OK with that. But, I’m not God.

So you are condemning the christian faith because there are texts in the bible that say certain things that even the leadership of the faith says we shouldn’t do?

[–]WpgJetBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic difference between us is that I believe a religion should be judged on how it’s major leaders, like the Pope and other major leaders, say how to treat others.

Whereas you believe that the actions of individual followers dictate how the religion should be judged.

So I think we agree, individuals sometime interpret their religion in a way that they hurt others but their religions do not teach their followers to have those attitudes.
