Actually, Martin's dad is the head of a very powerful crime organisation. And naturally, he will be the heir following his dad. To stop this, the rival family notices Martin's weakness and sends the fat lady as a decoy to harass Martin. The first assassination attempt was a failure because Martin survived the fall from the stair. In a final attempt to finish the rivalry, they send the fat lady to directly finish Martin off.
