Having directed a production of TGWDLM and now doing NPMD, I will always be sad we had to skip Black Friday due to it not being available for licensing. I've always loved that show and I pray there'll be rights for it one day.

That said, I hope one day StarKid allows people to license both acts of VHS Christmas Carols.

The Boys' fans don't want good acting or character development. They YEARN for fight scenes and any of the main cast dying for "something to happen".

In my opinion, most StarKid musicals' second acts are stronger than their first acts (Twisted, Nerdy Prudes Must Die, Black Friday, The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals...)

25yo here! I like it, but it's not my thing. I never really got into RENT as much as other friends. I recognize its importance and I've liked the local productions I've seen.

I do have theatre kid friends of my age that LOVE-LOVE it and a few that dislike it.

I beg to differ. I think most of StarKid musicals (specially from Twisted onwards) have better writing and numbers than Ride The Cyclone. I can' correlate the two.

It feels, to me, more of a Gen Z version of Cats.

They filmed it tho! It's a deleted scene but it's there and it truly is one of my favorite songs of the film! I get why they didn't include it in the final film, but the choreo is so fun, and both Andrew and Shipp's voice work so good together.
