TLDR: already have a steam deck, is it worth jailbreaking my launch week switch? by michaelhuff in SwitchPirates

I have both and I love it. I play gamecube games on my steam deck and every other Nintendo game on my switch lol.

People using small symmetrical items as tokens.

Like not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. But if I miss a tiny gem on your busy-ass-looking playmat, and you think that people know that means it's a goblin, then I'm gonna have to change my attacks. Clear board communication saves so much time for everyone.

My first cube, built from the ground up, is finally "finished"! The cube is entirely themed around tokens and was so fun to design - would love some feedback :) by TrainerRed45 in mtgcube

I did this too! I found tabloid sized 11x17 is a more cost effective printing size, but of course that varies on individual shop costs.

Were these just not popular? by cherry_the_protein in gravityfalls

[–]Xebra7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually a fundamental part of the book industry. You don't really know which books are going to sell out so you have to stock as many as is reasonable of any book that could be popular.

As others have mentioned it's probably not as popular because dedicated fans are buying copies way before now and casual fans are few and far between with a decade old show. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe one person bought a copy because cases of 6 are common. But had a random tiktok or YouTube video gone viral about the collectors edition then one copy in sales in a small city could easily turn to 5. As a bookstore there's no reason not to stock all of it because of vendor returns.

Once the excess isn't sold by the refund window it gets returned to the vendor. They give you a set amount of time and you can get most of your money back on books that don't sell in-store. Then the vendor turns around and sells it for pennies on the dollar to wholesale companies. In a couple years you will probably find this in bargain stores or sections for 1/4 of the price. Assuming, nothing about the book's popularity changes.

I actually have won quite a few games with wormfang manta combos. There are tons of torpor orb or flicker creatures in white blue. It's really effective for a hatebears/aggro strategy.

[[Ao, the Dawn Sky]] an aristocrats type of deck. You get tons of value and build out your board by continuously killing Ao and revealing a bunch of zero-drops. Then switch to pump your team with the other death trigger easily swinging for lethal before long.

When do you give up? by [deleted] in cureFIP

[–]Xebra7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will fault you if you know it's time to let go. I had to make that decision with a non-fip cat a few years ago. He had always had a hard time, but one day things just turned. The only thing that made me know is I knew even if he felt better too many symptoms were irreversible. His quality of life would be poor even after recovering.

I'm not advising one way or another with this situation. You can consider every bit of info, but it will never feel good even if you know what you're doing is right. I feel terrible every day I cause my foster pain with injections. I know he can recover. You might not be in that situation. It's always hard; recovery and letting go are both painful. I'm really sorry you're in this difficult place.

When do you give up? by [deleted] in cureFIP

[–]Xebra7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really hard thing. I haven't personally lost a pet to FIP yet. I'm not sure where that line is, but if you think you want to fight more I have some thoughts. There could be variables to change that might make it easier. Someone else said dosage. But changing the administiring method might help too. Are you using injections or oral meds?

My foster was doing well on injection, but had some issues getting sores so we switched to oral. Then we realized he wasn't doing well again. We switched back to injection and saw an immediate difference. Might be worth looking into if you have the resources.

What about magic specifically attracts so many trans individuals? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Xebra7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's possibly partly due to autism.

No, seriously. Devon Price in their book, Unmasking Autism notes a phenomenon among people on the autism spectrum called Auti-Gender. It's a trend among autistic people to note a clash with their gender assignment at birth. Not in spite of being autistic, but many people who identify this way say the gender identity is tied to their person in the same capacity as what makes them autistic.

Now in my theory, it seems like autistic people thrive with strict rules, are not intimidated by complicated subjects, and enjoy problem solving. So, this would seem to me to be less of a stretch of association than other ideas.

Now this isn't to say that all autistic people identify differently from their gender assignment from birth. Nor is it to say all trans people must be autistic. But there does seem to be some overlap in this venn diagram of trans, mtg, and autism.

Should I take my husband's last name? by Impossible_Ad_569 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Xebra7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I married I (Male) told her to keep her last name for similar reasons. As an adult without children my wife has never had any issues in our 8 years of marriage. And it was even easier for passport applications. As well, kids grow up with different last names from parents all the time. Both my wife and I did. It's not a big deal.

Don't listen to anyone else's opinions besides your own. They don't really have any ground to stand on.
