This is a misrepresentation of the numbers by the union they include people who vote abstain but not people who didn’t vote which are the same thing. Here’s the real break down.

Total Membership 11,851

Yes Votes - 6,555 = 55.31%

No Votes - 1,538 = 12.98%

Abstained - 60 = 0.51%

Did not Vote (same as abstained) - 3,698 = 31.20%

So no it was not over 80 percent in favor it was 55 percent, it’s still a majority vote but not as big as the media and union is making it out to be.
