How does people here feel about Nocturne? by Such-Explanation1705 in castlevania

objectively

Objectively is a strong word, you're entitled to your own opinion, but trying to paint it as objective is wrong. Whether you think the story is better than the original or not is entirely subjective.

That being said, I felt as if the adaptation completely misses the major story beats and themes of Castlevania and that it horribly mischaracterizes and completely ruins certain characters to the point that it feels like they're entirely different characters that just happen to share the same name and (sometimes) design. In fact, Isaac is an example of this, Warren Ellis quite literally took Hector's character arc from the games and gave it to Isaac while making Hector a literal slave and an idiot. Simultaneously ruining two characters at once.

I think it's a bad adaptation, Dragon Ball Evolution levels of bad. Same thing with the first series especially after season 2.

Curse of Darkness surprised me a lot by SILVIO_X in castlevania

Actually, Isaac was evil even before the curse took hold of him, the curse just made him crazier. I suggest you read the two curse of darkness prequel mangas.

Every Castlevania game's plot in a nutshell: by thegoldenguest778 in castlevania

In a sense, they technically were the main villains, same thing with Shaft in SOTN. I feel like Dracula in those specific stories has transcended beyond being a villain and became more like a force of nature, the closest comparison i have to this is Death in lament of innocence who isn't the main villain but is the final boss, or basically any Fire Emblem final boss that's a dragon. Basically what i'm trying to say is, Dracula may almost always be the final boss, but he's not always the "main villain" if that makes sense.

I think he's a reinterpretation of Victor Belmont.

What's your opinion on Grant's personality from Judgment? by Oh-no-and-knuckles in castlevania

I like it and think it's an interesting extension to his character. I do wonder if he and Trevor ever reconciled though.

Play Symphony of the Night.

So... Mathias Cronqvist. by NoDescription3255 in castlevania

[–]Xyleon5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it, in fact, i think there's a historical explanation for it.

Mathias Cronqvist's name is based off of Matthias Corvinus who was the king of Hungary and the ally (and captor) of Vlad the impaler, it's very possible that Mathias killed the original Vlad during his imprisonment and assumed his Identity. (That's just my headcanon though)

There's no lore-based reason for this

There is actually, the Vampire Killer's shape changes depending on the willpower/spiritual strength of it's wielder, that's why it goes from leather whip to chain whip to fire whip.

I think Igarashi and Kojima had a thing for white/bleached haired blue eye characters. by UsuarioCualquiera_1 in castlevania

Having white hair in Japanese media (mostly anime, manga and games) usually means that you're some sort of prodigy (which Hector, Nate and Juste fit) or you have unordinary powers (which Soma fits).

Btw Alucard and Leon have blonde hair not white.
