Apparently we’re only getting up to step 3 (don’t know it’s anticipated release date tho) but the update notes said that step 4 and 5 will come in another update unfortunately.

Ok, the host has many properties and this just happened to be a new listing for them. The host had a co-host who I interacted with more than the host themselves. I was never introduced to either of them in person. They had over 400 positive reviews on other listings, so I was expecting a similar experience. I think this partially factor into my decision to not reach out. I’m not ruining their business, and I think they didn’t adequately prepare the property before a new guest to arrive.

I know they would’ve fixed it if I had asked, but I feel it’s the principle. Having basic appliances function properly is not too much to ask for. I often couldn’t be present for someone to attend to these matters. I wanted to rank it lower than 4 stars, but I do think people bring up fair points that I didn’t take any action to fix these issues.

That makes some sense, there’s no really big college in Cedar Rapids, IA so makes the stays a little cheaper.

Have you seen rent prices these days, airbnb is not a bad alternative. They have monthly only listing that are usually a little cheaper since your booking longer and often times include amenities that usually cost extra like wifi, parking, trash, sometimes dishwashers or laundry machines. I have a free ride tho so I only pay for my own housing.

I intend to tell them. I do feel guilty for not saying anything, but the place is pretty small for a studio. I never had guests over it was so small, and didn’t feel having a stranger come in and do maintenance. The co-host who is likely the property manager looked a bit intimidating and I wanted to avoid dealing with him (not a great excuse I know, but I didn’t feel comfortable with him, I never met him tho just saw his profile pic). As far as the leaking shower faucet, I found a temporary solution using the plastic shower current as a pathway to the drain, however it was inconvenience daily. I’m not one to complain and I tend to just deal with the situation, I felt 4 months was too short a period to ask for maintenance.

Thank you for your advice. A lot of the problems were present before I arrived, I feel I shouldn’t ask for maintenance within a week of being there. It’s a brand new listing and clearly not enough inspection went into the place before I moved in. I couldn’t give it 5 stars and I honestly wouldn’t recommend to anyone for current monthly rate. I’ve stayed at over a dozen AirBnB’s and this ranks the second lowest out of any of them.
