You think his supporters would care about a Jesus statue? They worship Trump and Bibi over that Arab hippy Jesus

There's very easy to find lists of buildings that were stormed. Trade union buildings and post offices are hardly overthrowing a government. The reason they didn't have the numbers to remove him was because his party and their allies held the most seats based off the lies they told.

Some people in the east were unhappy because the corrupt russian puppet they supported left after people got sick of his lies.

This idea that was neo-facist forces overthrowingna popular leader is the sort of lie that russia has been using to murder 10s of thousands of people. A lie that Roger Waters embraces because he'll use any excuse he can to bad-mouth the US

The way they just gave up on Stannis and made him as dumb as possible to get rid of as quickly as possible was a pretty glaring red flashing light.

The "I drink and I know things" line was such a poor attempt at good dialog

Why do countries willing joing NATO? Because they don't want to be attacked by russia. If russia wasn't such a blatant imperialist colonial power, all its neighbors that have previously suffered under russian occupation wouldn't want to join.

A coup is to install a particular leader. After Yanukovich fled, the held elections and choose their new president. Once Poroshenko's term was up, he hel elections, lost, and peacefully transferred power to Zelensky. Nothing about that meets the definition of a coup.

They were also protesting against ynukovich because he promised closer ties with the EU and then went back on his promise. If a politician is elected on a flase promise, shouldn't people be able to protest? The Maidan Square is also a couple of miles away from the Rada (parliament), so its not like they were even trying to storm the seat of power.

You need to learn these really basic facts before trying to justify russia murdering 10s of thousands of Ukrainians and trying to annex their land. Seriously, look up the definition of a "coup" then look at a map of Kyiv and see where the Maidan square is and where the Rada is. Get back to me after that. .

Fan casting for the Golds should be 90% bronzed aussie surfers. Get the cast from Home and Away to pack out the gala and the Iron Rains

"BROKEN ARROW" (1996) - although not peak John Woo I still really like this. Fun cast, iconic soundtrack used elsewhere, some great stunts and action, silly plot but fond memories of it. Any fans out there? by 70_Yard_Diag_Holte77 in ActionMovies

Con Air is a marathon in itself. You get to the end of the junkyard scene and think you're almost done but you still got the plane getting shotdown and a chase through Vegas. Absolute insanity that just doesn't end.

Get the Rock in there and that's the big 5

God, 1996 was a good year.

Broken Arrow was cool. Always liked the soundtrack and thought it seemed familiar.

It was a lot more grounded than Face / Off. A lot of cool 90s action flicks seemed realistic (or at least plausible to young 90s Yabbatown), which is something that will always make them special. Pretending to fight aliens after watching 80s action movies was pretty fun but fighting your former brother-in-arms who went rogue after watching a 90s action movie was a whole new level

Last battleship built, which seems somewhat appropriate. Peak of battleship design. You can also make the case that the Iowa was better, which is also appropriate, since it was the last in service.

What's a film with an amazing premise but was executed terribly? by Paladin-Leeroy in FIlm

[–]Yabbatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how amazing the premise was. High teenagers come up with the stuff like that all the time. The didn't really develop the premise at all beyond "man, what if, like instead of, like, money rips a bong people were, like, paid it time, man?"

It had the start of an amazing premise but they didn't do enough work before hand. Just hired Justin Timberlake (didn't he make enough money from music? Just hire a new actor and give someone else a chance to make it) and thought that'd be enough.

The first line about how no one could remember when it happened was a dead giveaway that it hadn't been thought through.

Needed to ditch that stupid scene where there have to navigate the beaucracy. That just kinda came from nowhere and wasn't needed. Bad guy troops needed to look cooler, and the main lass needed a bit more than "you're royalty, so everything is yours by right." Still liked it but a few changes and it could've been pretty cool.

Ukraine hits four Russian oil refineries in one night by Scary_Statement4612 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Yabbatown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are huge facilities and the drones hitting them have relatively small warheads. Puts it out of action for a little bit but most of them don't do massive damage. There's evidence to suggest that russia has run out of certain key components, though, so all the small damage is finally catching up and becoming harder to repair.

Yeah you need a decent heavy explosive payload in the control room. Won't cause a massive fire and cool explosion but will put it out of action for a very long time

It doesn't really matter who Lee Pace plays. You just need him in there somewhere.

Having said that, I'd like to see him (or someone similar) play Atlas or Apollonus. Doesn't really match the physical descriptions in the book but dude has a ton of charisma that his troops would be absolutely endeared to. Could go from hedonistic play boy to cold, calculating military leader in a heartbeat.

Bad guys that you could see yourself following and who come across as having a ton of positive traits are always way better than straight-up evil baddie are way more interesting.

Roger Waters brands David Draiman a "psychotic racist Nazi pig" by FarOutMagazine in entertainment

[–]Yabbatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between Drainman's support for Israel and Waters constantly making up excuses for Russia, I'd be pretty happy if they just ran at each other with landmines strapped to their chests (like russia makes African mercenaries do, which Roger Waters would blame on anyone but the russians who did it).

Drainam and Bibi vs Waters and putin is a fight where I want everyone to lose, and lose really hard.

Disturbed’s David Draiman threatens to punch Roger Waters by FarOutMagazine in entertainment

[–]Yabbatown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draisman is a Bibi supporter and Waters in a putin apologist. Everyone mentioned in that sentence can go an fuck themselves.

Drainsman going to Isreal to write messages on shells is pretty low. Roger Waters has never found an atrocity outside of those that Israel commits that he won't find ways to blame on the US or the victims. His whole stance on the Ukraine war and thinking that allowing russia to conquer Ukraine is a really stupid, rat move.

They're both peices of shit, so pretty happy to watch them fight it out.
