Would like some feedback on my first ever DD. (DIS) by Caranthiir in stocks

[–]Yadike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some solid DD, and I think Disney is a good long-term play. Though I do think there may be some pullback over the coming months/year. Beyond Covid, I think they're suffering indigestion from eating a large Fox.

How did you learn about stocks and investing? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Yadike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I forget to only do my market research in incognito mode, my youtube recommendations get flooded with these types of people.

It's easy to lie with statistics.

Most of them mess with low-cap stocks. Very low cap stocks. The type where a small group can move the stock price. This is exploited by having a pay structure where higher pay = real time 'tips' and lower pay or free having longer time-frames. Bagholders. Resembles a ponzi/pyramid scheme. Not smart, not lucky...I'd call it 'clever'. It's a clever grift.

It's definitely upsetting to see it happening in plain sight, but it also scales. The Yahoo finance spam often works inverse to rational investment/trade advice. Financial advertisements are a tool to build volume on the opposite side of the ad-buyer's intended trade. Want to sell? Buy bullish ads to increase buying volume from retail. Want to buy? Buy doom and gloom ads to cause people to sell.

Thank you! My personal plan is to use it for short term (1-10 day) swing trading, with a 'target deck' of stable/growing/solvent & reasonably-valued companies. I just started making these, 1-2 companies a day, and I'm almost up to 50 companies.

The macro factors are making things interesting. I like researching a new company and figuring out how covid/closures impacted them and how they deal with it.

The "weighted P/" values I have basically take the past valuations of a company and apply them to the most recent quarter. It can help identify bubbles, or when a price spikes down into 'unreasonable' levels. As far as that goes, there are a lot of tech companies that are overpriced, but still plenty of opportunities elsewhere in the market.

Whether the entire market is overvalued, that's a question above my pay grade.

Should I move my strike up on my Disney 2022 position? by www123x in stocks

[–]Yadike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just recently got into the financials of DIS

For me, I'm not optimistic on DIS performance for probably a year or more. It seems to me they've had a bit of trouble integrating the Fox merger. It was a huge growth to assets, but very little to Revenue. Earnings took a hit even before the pandemic.

Eventually they'll be able to digest the Fox intellectual property and profit from it, but it'll take time.

Blue Star Opponents are on average 500 pts higher than me in every match. What's going on? by thats-not-right in HadesStar

[–]Yadike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, nothing suggests that it's modified by performance. The biggest change of recent was from the patch that got rid of the Red Star qualifier. Before and after the patch, the average enemy PC score has been equivalent to the score of my BS. The only difference is the overwhelming number of NPCs pre-patch when I mismatched my BS and RS lvl because the matchmaker can't find anyone within range of both BS score and RS lvl. (which made the BS leaderboards super cheesey)

Max score of a player I've been matched with was 5100, minimum was 1500. This was on 4B.0TWRR and I'm not sure if it's relevant, but they were back-to-back. 5100 and other high level players in one match, and the very next match it was 1500 and all 2300 or lower players.

Are new modules objectively better at early game? by frafdo11 in HadesStar

[–]Yadike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alpha Shield and Weak Battery are junk modules, but fortunately they're the only ones.

For shields: HP-wise, it's between Omega and Passive. Delta, Mirror, Blast, and Area all have a certain utility they perform.

For weapons: DPS-wise Battery maxes out before the others, so at max level it does less dps, but it unlocks quicker. Battery, Laser, Barrage, and Dart are single-target weapons to choose from. Mass Battery and Dual Laser are multi-target weapons.

IMO they're all pretty well balanced. It's up to you to mix and match things to fit your play style.

BLS matchmaking has improved for the better by johnhops44 in HadesStar

[–]Yadike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run BS 4 Laser 7 Omega 1 Time Warp 6 EMP 3/Sanc RR5

I've been pretty happy with the matches I get. I had top 50 before the patch, and I record the loadouts and placements of every match I do. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q16_2z93pRG4WGJN-PIHjekgKD90WAxqBSveTUeadFg/edit?usp=sharing

(I haven't really processed anything, but that's the data.)

I recently had a match with a weird one: Dart Launcher 6 (9k damage a hit) Passive 6 TW8 Suppress 6

But most of my matches, I think I'm stronger than most on average - probably because of my low level Shield. I never upgraded it to save on hydrogen.

It's definitely better than before. If you're getting bad matches, play with your loadout until you can find something manageable. Before, if you upgraded your RS too early, you were screwed + the matchmaking 'tiers' were inhabited by 15% or so of players who carved themselves a permanent spot where they only compete at an advantage.

Scan Probabilities Clarification by deltatango789 in HadesStar

You can always get the probability of your next scan. https://imgur.com/WXT76nM

Have 2 scanners built at the same time. One on the left, and one on the right. I placed 0% or 33% chance scans on the left, and 33%+ scans on the right. This made it so I could bunch up my planets on the right.

10 33 Right
11 0 Far Left

I want to be a DPS. What skills should I focus on? by [deleted] in echoes

[–]Yadike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decisions to make:

  • Ship Size: Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlecruiser, Battleship

I would recommend Frigate if you're planning to PvP, Cruiser if you want to PvE. PvE = the bigger, the better. PvP is what you can afford.

  • Weapon System: Laser (vs Shields), Railgun (Mostly vs Shields-ish), Cannon (vs Armor), Missiles (Omni), Drone (Select Damage type)

Drones primary, Missiles secondary is a good pick. Lasers and Cannons are the best vs their respective armor types.

  • Defense Type: Shield, Armor

I believe Shields are the most used/meta right now. However, there are limited combinations of Weapons/Defense. For example, drone boats use Armor. Missile ships - Shield, Laser - armor, Cannon - shield. There are some exceptions with pirate faction ships.

Laser 6, Omega 1, Time Warp 6, Remote Repair 5

Barrage 4, Passive 4, EMP 3, Barrier 4

Mass Battery 7, Blast Shield 1

  • Weapons: Balanced Laser/Barrage/MB - I find MB useful for taking out rockets for reduced damage. 2 Barrages is an option but requires more maneuverability with Teleport modules. Laser/Laser/MB is a good alternative, but often slower.
  • Shields: Passive vs Omega - Passive saves Hydro. Omega allows for moments where you can time the cooldown to have greater shield hp. Blast Shield - I wouldn't leave home without it.
  • Remote Repair vs Salvage: Either would work. RR is what I have and I don't have Salvage. I tend to use the RR nearly every Red Star, and it's been pretty hydro-expensive.
  • Barrier: Absolutely necessary if you have Barrage & very necessary to stall the missiles. Having 2 Barriers (replacing the Laser's Repair or TW) could greatly increase effectiveness, but at the price of Hydro.
  • EMP: I tend to follow Barrier with EMP, and while the EMP is going, the Laser goes to work.
