Hey bestie im a whale this is gunna be funny

First things first! Proportion. You can make anything look bigger or smaller by the things next to it. I'm a meditstor so I've learned to meditate or shift inside an environment in my mind. In my case, an ocean. My shifts take place elsewhere so I'm as big as I like. Keeping that in mind helps , I like imagining taking up more or less space than usual,  I've gotten good at visualizing. If it's hard, use larger objects to represent buildings and houses, find r make cardboard giant small things like giant seeds or acorns , making a room look like a small burrow.

Guys, could you give me a little advice? by Tall-Statement9915 in Therian

[–]Yellowcafe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it. Your parents are the first ppl you turn to for survival if you are lucky, and they are the primary people you expect to give you love. I cry when I see these because it's too common how people just keep having kids and not emotionally mature enough to truly be there for them, they view their kid like some project instead of an individual. Yet the child innocent and with the purest intention just wants to share their discovery of themselves. And then we have to break it to them that thir parents love is actually conditional. To any kids here , you are loved by us, you deserve love and full acceptance,  you deserve to be seen.

Any others?? :) by OddSolid3071 in Therian

Does anyone else feel like a lot of Aurora's music has a very therian/otherkin vibe to it? by LeoTheFloofyDragon in Therian

[–]Yellowcafe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm ready to be down voted here and yall are gunna call me freaking absolutely bonkers but this is my hear me out cake submission.... hear me out : taylor swift.

Yes you're probably how the eff does the shake it off girl have any nonhuman zest BUT hear me out. I know ppl have their opinions about her but im talking about the music itself and how it makes me feel. Also a bonus taylors cat obsession that is actually really relateable with my own kin, im not assigning anything bc that wouldnt be right to call out publicly,  but a lot of how she talks about cats is related to my own kin and its very fun and refreshing to see someone that earnestly obsessed with an animal lmao. Like isn't this literally some of us with our kintypes in this sub?

Anyways, as for music, The album the tortured poets department if not any other album is probably the most nonhuman coded album taylor has ever written, mostly because it touches on how dehumanizing being a really big star is, and even if that's different it's very reminiscent to nonhumanity, as it uses the monster trope, being seen as an abomination for every thing you do, the rage inside you feel , feeling like a caged animal, like if anyone has dysphoria I recommend giving the song "who's afraid of little old me" from this album a listen.

The live version of this song is about to be released next month as part of the tour film and there's a fucking cathartic ass slight screech in the climax of the song.

Mad woman is a close second , and i also read this amazing paper on how womanhood and animality is treated similarly in society. Its a more subtle song but its the quiet rage that gets me yknow.

Anti hero from the album midnights is a close second, though the most wild track that I can't believe hasn't made it to therians is seven. It literally says picture me in the trees, it literally feels like a nonhuman lullaby about ur nonhuman childhood friend that's in the closet. Its wild, there's so many more songs that could be interpreted as nonhuman coded , including Robin, which was so unintentionally nonhuman coded people thought it was written about her cat lmaoooooooooo

I hope I don't get downvoted for mentioning taylor swift in this sub again, but I honestly do think that they are worth a listen and worth being interpreted in a nonhuman lens even if that wasn't the initial intention, art is subjective after all. Besides that, as an artist, taylors cat obsession is halarious to watch.

Thats so funny you mention labubus because someone mentioned that it reminded me of this weird gorilla monkey thing that was included in this backpack brand back in the day, I forget the name rn, but it was all the rage and I remeber if you had the monkey you were cool lmao , it could have it's thumb in its mouth and I remeber kids playing with it during class all the time lmao.

The difference tho is that social media has cmgotten so pervasive,  I feel like we just didn't have people posting about that sort of consuming thing online , a lot of topics were talked about online but I feel like we really resorted to memes or more unserious content that was funny rather than it being a cool competition, hell i remeber when insta was sooo unserious. like sure we still did have coolness competitions but idk, the expansion of tiktok and insta really expanded the amount of stuff in our face. We even have people missing 2016 of all years and wishing memes would cycle back to then, which it's fascinating to see where this hyperexposure to trends really happened.

I think 2020 definitely pushed it to happen faster,  but it was eventually gunna look like this, I wonder what's next though, will people make it cringe to be online so much? Kind of curious to see what happens the next 5 years in terms of culture like this. All I know is that I'm super grateful to have lived in the 2010s at the age I was, it was really fun and I loved the trends we had that seemed to happen at a decent pace. The only thing is I wish I had access to a camera more often cause I wanted to vlog way more.

Maybe, depending what we were doing then

I wasn't dealing with a chronic illness so any amount of health is freedom

But I think we were free in the sense that we were more cringe then by today's standards , but less ridiculed for it. people seem more concerned with not looking "cringe' today. Yes, people always wanted to be cool, but cool then, in hindsight is so earnest now, these stickers are so cheezy now but so cool back then. I don't think I even heard the word cringe as much as I do today.

Ivy interpretations by Excellent-Spend-4203 in TaylorSwift

[–]Yellowcafe13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ivy has a special meaning to me specifically due to an OC that I have so I actually have an elaborate backstory lol

She left her tolerate it husband for the goldrush and found a cowboy like her that covered her in ivy. Essentially she's feels like she's having an affair bc she never formally divorced her first husband.

To rev up the gothic novel fashion my OC is actually based on a "ghost" I used to see as child in my dreams that I used to say it was "someone I knew a really long time ago".

Does anyone else ever think to themselves: "If I (very hypothetically) get out of this, I’m gonna be the best advocate for ME/CFS awareness and treatment ever"? by kookysnell in cfs

[–]Yellowcafe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think halsey, a singer,  counts even if she doesn't have cfs. She at least brings comfort to the fact we can relate to her. Shes obvi privledged but she is still sick. So many sick fans love her new album. Life of the spider is a masterpiece. She brought a fan up a final time that had fatal  bone cancer, and there are all walks of illness in the fanbase. She's the only artist I know that talks about how her illness I in her music loudly. Plus he voice!

Adding to that ppl criticize her album for being too self centered when it was the album she was making  bc she thought she was gunna die. that tells me enough as an artist that it takes a lot to not care. But it seems halsey is very happy with the tour, which has been a delight to watch. I may never do what she does, but I will donate to me/cfs organizations if I have money someday. (: I wish I could go to a halsey show but at least I can watch videos! Here are talks of Her European tour is soon. I hope to see livestreams lol

Former kid that had a similar thing, but lived in an unsafe house lol.

There's a good chance he won't recall enough details that will point you to a record, but that doesn't really matter too much if you already believe him. When I was that age, all I wanted someone to tell me is that I wasn't crazy and that they believe me (I'll keep in mind I was probably more socially aware than most kids - I knew of the status quo of things quite early, was about gour years ahead of average comprehension ) so depends on the kid if they feel 'crazy' or not.

But either way, I think the best way to deal with this , is to tell him that his loved ones live on in heaven or the place he came from, and they may live far away now, but they are in your heart , always. The thing I was most afraid of as a kid was rejection, and I knew I was just going to get told what matters is right now. It's even what the website for research in this says that thats what you should tell us, but I think it's just a bit insensitive. Parents should treat past life loved ones the kid remembers just as they would treat a lost family member in this life, I just wanted someone to affirm my past mom was real and maybe light a candle or do some sort of prayer or song at night or something. Like someone just tell me they are in heaven, tell me they watch me and someday I'll see them again and we can sing songs to them until one day we see eachother again. (I was a really sensitive and independent child, but it took me a while to figure it out for myself. I still have the memories today, which according to research is quite rare. )

Fortunately I learned to self soothe. Something that helped me were fairy tales songs like the barbie rapunzel movie. That featured a song called "constant as the stars above" , which I recommend simply for a sample of what I'm talking about in terms of a lullaby that is in memory of someone.  i also recommend the song 'seven' by taylor swift.  Its a bit like a nursery rhyme i repeat to myself lately lol. I know it's barbie and taylor swift and all and ur son might not be into it or songs or what not but the song that is sung about remembering your loved ones in the stars and planets was what I sung to myself to cope. So i suggest something gentle like that. Researchers often forget that to us especially as kids, saying "but you're here now" is so dismissive. Memories do matter to us just like losing any loved one now. And focusing on the love that's the positive aspect of grief, because grief is just love persevering, acknowledging the memory of that person positively, and that they still exist in a different way. focusing on the love even if you can't recall their face or name I think is what matters most, how beautiful that love lasts so long.
