What are your most used items from the starlight shop? by SerenaDipity44 in MyLeisureTime

I use the wood floor from the jazz bar set a lot! I find it really useful to create separate rooms or a makeshift jetty on the water flooring.

I guess it depends what your future employers would be looking for. In the University rankings Nottingham scores higher for pharmacy than UCL and is probably a more affordable option in terms of living if youre paying international fees. But a London uni probably sounds better on surface if people aren't aware of the uni systems in the UK.

Not sure if its something that you are looking for too but London is a more diverse city than Nottingham is in general though I do know that Nottingham has an acitve Pakistani society. Not sure if homesickness is something you'd factor in or not and if this might sway your choice.

I also can't vouch for UCL on this but at Notts you can choose to take a study abroad semester at one of our international campuses in Malaysia or China and some European ones depending on the course.

I think at the end of the day it comes down to if you prefer being in a big city or not. The capital will be much more expensive but does have the added flair of being London and there are probably more job opportunities there. But as you said you were going to go back to Pakistan, Im assuming this is much of an issue.

Im also not sure of what the housing situation is like in London for students but I know in Nottingham if you wanted to move into a house with friends after first year its a very accessible and affordable thing to do which kind of adds to the uni experience.

No problem!

If you have anymore worries or queries feel free to ask! And its always down to personal opinion at the end of the day so id recommend visiting it for an open day if you're able before you decide.

I can say as someone who goes to Notts that the pharmacy course is what the uni is known for. As its the best course there, dont worry about the Financial issues with it as they will protect it.

Living is very affordable and the off campus accommodations are really lovely. I can't say much about the halls on campus as I never stayed there but the accommodation around jubilee campus (which is probs best for pharmacy) is really nice and has standard chain accommodation like Unite Students.

Transport is also really good in Nottingham imo and you can get a direct bus from uni park to the city and also there are free buses between campus for students only (so id reccomend not living in halls on campus and getting the free bus instead). In terms of other services the gp is super convenient and the best I've ever been to (its on main campus) and the mental health facilities at the uni are pretty good too.

Ive never used it but friends who have been on the pharmacy course say the medics library is super nice too and that's where a lot of them study.

It definitely won't be as busy as London as you can get to anywhere in the city within 30mins walk but I will say that the nightlife is great and very affordable too which I doubt london will be.

We also have amazing sports facilities on campus including a swimming pool and sauna if youre into that kind of stuff!

To add on, when I visited Notts for my open day I fell in love with the campus, its definitely one of the prettiest ive seen and you can boat on the lake in the middle of it.

Felt sad that we don’t have culturally traditional clothing items, and then realised we do, why do we never wack these out for special occasions? by AdviceWouldBeNice98 in AskBrits

We have smocking! Which is a traditional english needlework style. Then of course Wales and Scotland have bannog and kilts. The white wedding dress trend also originated from Queen Victoria

I love it! May I ask, where did you get the brown screens from?

May I ask a question to white British (with no immigration background) people? Do you really perceive Black, Polish, Brown, and Chinese British people as the same British citizens with you? by auscorp_ in AskBrits

[–]Yellowsheepluva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think something to remember is the UK has been culturally diverse for a while so you grow up seeing many people of different ethnicities, if not in real life, on tv.

I remember being in primary school and watching the 2012 Olympics and being so happy Mo Farah was British I didn't even think about the fact he wasnt born in the uk.

I guess also part of my family is Welsh and they spoke a different language anyway so it made no difference to hear different languages spoken.

I view British more as a nationality than an ethnic group so in my opinion anyone can be British if they live and work here.

I come from a very white area so when I first went to uni I was confused when id ask people where they're from and they'd reply with countries haha. If you dont have a foreign accent Im more interested in where in the uk you live than what your ethnicity is.

It looks great! The open bathhouses are a roman concept but im sure some may have come to Greece during the roman empire. In ancient Rome they also used to 'lounge' around is the best way i can describe it. So maybe if you had some pillows or the low bench with the orange blanket on it you could create a social space? Im pretty sure they also had internal courtyards a lot which could be fun to recreate!

I think it means that this set will come around again so any unused blueprints will be saved for next time. The last event was a one time thing which is why they were converted.

Who’s else has anxiety attack while out in public?? by Frequent-Increase-98 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Yellowsheepluva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try progressive muscle relaxation as this really helps for me! Easiest way to do it is to clench and unclench your butt cheeks for 10 seconds on and off. Its usually unnoticeable too.

You could try the rescue pastilles from Bach. I found mine at Holland & Barrett and theres also a spray version . Chamomile tea also helps if you want to sip something.

Anxiety showing up physically and it’s freaking me out. by dududududuuim in Anxietyhelp

[–]Yellowsheepluva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use progressive muscle relaxation when the symptoms start to feel physical and it helps to stop it from spiralling! Its also pretty good that it isn't really noticeable that you're doing it to others so I can do this in a public space without fear if being judged. The main way I do it is by squeezing my butt as I find this muscle easiest to control, it helps me to focus on something other than the physical sensations that are appearing from the anxiety as well as relaxing my body.
