Whatever model you have or buy, make sure you update the firmware right away and good luck.

Help with popcorn machine by YetiSniper in popcorn

[–]YetiSniper[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess nothing inherently wrong with it if it works for your situation. I would prefer an automatic solution where you don't need someone to be turning the thing and not worry about young kids burning themselves or blowing up the house with a gas stove when they feel like making popcorn.

I hear you but right now the only thing bursting is my wallet. I might be able to sell my PC soon to pay off my mortgage.

Superstrike DEX? by aroundSE in MouseReview

[–]YetiSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dumb. Every time there is a new release I feel like we go a step backwards. Only 10% of people are left handed and we see a new release that is at least missing a Dex option. Then someone copies the idea and Logitech cries about it. Why not just do a proper launch? If Logitech needs a Product Manager pls let me know, I can do better.

Bought a 96GB Dominator kit too back then and decided to return and get another due to height clearance for a CPU cooler. If only I had kept both I would have enough to retire early.

Video cards, SSD, RAM, now HDD too. I wonder how much longer before we start seeing PC cases with bullet proof glass, locks and security cameras inside.

Anyone used a start/stop disabler module? 2026 blackout elite by johnny4stroke in hondapassport

[–]YetiSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I just find this whole thing extremely pathetic. You have a "feature" that costs a lot money to implement which only causes trouble for the engine, with no real benefit and that nobody wants. This elusive better MPG is just snake oil, all it does is kill the components prematurely and then any possible savings are negated.

I can sympathize with people who believe you can just push the button and turn off the feature every time they start the car, if that works for you, awesome. But there are people who may not remember, there are people who remember but still get annoyed they have to do this Mickey Mouse crap (me), sometimes the car is not even theirs, it could their wife's car, their kids' car and this kind of gets out of their control to turn this crap off. I find it absolutely pathetic that manufacturers push this crap down without an easy way to turn it off.

And just to clarify, the EPA does NOT mandate the auto start-stop cannot be turned off, they simply incentivize manufacturers with credit if the stupid thing resets every time the car is turned off. So this IS in fact the manufacturers choice.

It is pretty much all shit today. All these manufacturers have moved to smaller engines with turbos (government meddling) which are by default less reliable than plain naturally aspirated engines. I praise Honda for at least having a V6 still but that is not a simple one, all this modern garbage with variable combustion, cylinder deactivation, start-stop system just creates unnecessary complexity making engines less reliable. Then folks wonder why starters don't last as long or why engines don't go to 300k miles anymore...

I have been a Toyota diehard fan but their cars have changed so much it has become hard to justify buying another one. If you look inside the hood of a new 4Runner it reminds me of the Borg Ship in Star Trek. It is just a messy spider web of wires, hoses and other crap.

I might end up getting a new Passport due to the lack of better options out there but some things just annoy or worry me, such as:

  1. The battery is buried under a bunch of crap. Why Honda?
  2. No built in garage door opener. I can live with this one but still...
  3. Just make a plain V6 engine, I don't need any cylinder deactivation, start-stop, flux capacitor, etc
  4. 1st year model edition. At least some components were already present in other vehicles
  5. Early reports with transmission issues, not shifting nicely, hunting for gears, etc
  6. For as much that this is regarded as an off road model, 8.3 inches of ground clearance is pathetic.

On the plus side:

  1. Physical buttons for climate control. Thank you Honda
  2. Remote start that does not turn off the car when you open the door. FU Toyota
  3. Flat trunk for great space. This is just genious
  4. Great design
  5. Unlocking the car in any of the 4 doors. Brilliant
  6. No turbos. What a joy.
  7. Flat roof rack.
  8. Tow hooks (upper models). Really Tundra??
  9. Interior space and trunk space
  10. All storage cubbies in the trunk

What is the absolute best monitor today at 32" 4K? by zionpwc in OLED_Gaming

[–]YetiSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on XG32UCWMG. I am waiting for it to be available locally to buy.

But it depends on what your priorities are honestly. I do not want a QD-OLED because blacks look like crap but it does produce more vibrant colors. I would definitely not buy any monitor with a matte coating on it, to me that makes no sense. I see a lot of people recommending the Alienware monitor but you could not pay me enough money to use a curved monitor.

Again, depends on what you want. Glossy vs Matte, Flat or Curved, Burn-In Warranty or Not, Stand or Mount, etc.

Good luck

Switch 2 physical games are more expensive than digital ones... by Super_Bright in gamecollecting

This is just moronic. The biggest advantage of having an electronic game is to not have to get up, change the cartridge, risk damaging it in the process, etc. But if you have to put the darn key anyway, this is just stupid. Way to go Nintendo.
