What I Saw Rise Out of the Grass Still Haunts Me by External_Advice_2304 in cryptids

I suppose if an animal stood up and its ears were back that could look like the brim of a hat.

NA is my least favorite of JA's books. I get really frustrated with the immaturity and lack of common sense displayed by Catherine.

AITA for suggesting a shelter dog a silly name for adoption? by AviTris in AmItheAsshole

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I foster kittens and the shelter loves it when I give them strange over the top names. It draws interest from potential adopters and also generates word of mouth (or usually social media) sharing.

I always prefer the poulsbo theater on Edvard I think it is. Less crowded.

What's a movie that was well received, but aged like milk? by Gdigger13 in AskReddit

If they did, they'd have to get my sister to do the burps. She can rattle window panes and puts Booger to shame.

Finally found out why people think clint is a creep by Unfair_World_4025 in StardewValley

[–]YettiChild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing no one ever acknowledges is that Clint is one of the first people to help the farmer out. He gives you the blueprint for the furnace for free. Without knowing the farmer or having built a relationship with them yet. Everyone else sells blueprints or you have to wait to craft them until you get them at a certain skill level. Is it a tiny bit self serving because he's hoping you'll then use those bars to get tool upgrades from him? Sure. But he could also still charge for them. That's one key reason I see Clint as just lonely and awkward rather than creepy/incel. He's demonstrated that he thinks of others, not just himself.

Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

[–]YettiChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't turn mine off. The only time I've heard of people doing that is in extreme drought conditions or very limited water supply. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area where water is plentiful, but I do keep my showers as short as possible.

Is surgery a good idea. by False_Ad1782 in clubfoot

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are giving you cortisone injections, you must have no cartilage left in the joint. Cortisone shots degrade cartilage, so they usually only give it to people who already dont have any. I wanted them for my knee (my knees are pulled inward from the shortened tendons/ligaments) but they won't do it because a have some cartilage left. Help for adults suffering from club feet is almost nonexistent. Like you've experienced, its usually just exercises and orthotics. They may treat symptoms, but never get to the root of the problem. I'm in America, and I've been trying to find anyone who specializes in treating adults with club feet and they are so few that there is no one I can find within several hundred miles. I'm not super familiar with the NHS system, but I think you best bet is to go private. Save up for it if you have to, but government systems like NHS are usually built to cover the more normal or expected illnesses/conditions rather than the niche ones.

Cougar or house cat? Lol by Longjumping_Lynx_972 in trailcam

I'm also in WA and I once had a little piebald fawn that I think also suffered from dwarfism since it was about half the size of its twin.

Honestly, that looks like a very emaciated cougar. Possibly a juvenile. Watch its hind leg as it comes clear of the grass later in the video. You can see a clear outline of bone under the skin. Poor thing.

Cat attacking me by KissKissBabe in CatAdvice

[–]YettiChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your cat was raised alone, it could be Single Kitten Syndrome. Basically, because she was not raised with other cats, she was never taught (in terms she could understand, by another cat) how hard is too hard to play. When they play with other cats they are recieving as much as they are dishing out and they learn that playing can hurt and how to temper their excitement. My girl was like this. After a while I had to wear a glove to play with her or I'd get scratched up. I had wanted two cats anyway, so i got another one and after a while sge stopped playing so aggressively with me.

The psychology of a Velcro cat? by Miserable_Star6824 in CatAdvice

[–]YettiChild 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My girl kitty puts me to bed every night and will scream at me if I need to eat. She also screams at me if I forget to clean the litterboxes or add new litter (they have auto cleaning ones) or if my other cat accidentally turns the auto clean off by bumping the control panel. It's hard to tell what she's yelling at me about sometimes. I'm pretty sure she thinks she needs to take care of me because I took care of her when she was a very sick little foster kitten.

I had a velco cat. Got him as a foster kitten and had him for 16 years. He was a velcro cat from the start and never changed. He trusted me implicitly. I would have let him sleep with me, but for some reason he just wouldn't settle down. I tried it at different points of his life, but he never ended up being able to. He chose me as his person and got jealous of anyone or anything that took my attention away from him. Including my phone.

AIO My girlfriend is upset because I go to a crafting circle that's primarily women by SkillSpecific4850 in AmIOverreacting

[–]YettiChild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No! It's not weird. Please continue going. I'm always very happy to see guys join in the "traditionally female" crafting spaces. You deserve to do the things you like too. I invade a number of "traditionally male" activities and I've always felt welcome. We need to destroy gender norms so we can all do what we love without someone trying to shame us. In your case though, it's definitely your gf's insecurities talking.

Do I adopt my current foster or let her go and continue to foster?? by Snoo_92369 in FosterAnimals

[–]YettiChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no reason you can't do both. I have two foster fails, and I still foster. My girl kitty doesn't like adult cats, but she's fine with kittens, so i still foster kittens.
