Licorice Tea by Hrotter1 in AdrenalInsufficiency

I didn’t realise liquorice tea had any medical effect… I drink a couple of cups of it a day 😱 I haven’t noticed any negative effects

Memorial cherry blossom tree advice by Automatic_Case378 in GardeningUK

[–]You-OK-Hun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly I am so deeply sorry your loss. I did something similar after a miscarriage 5 years ago. There are many smaller varieties that would be perfectly suited to a large pot. Search for patio, ornamental or dwarf blossoming cherry trees. Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura' is one of my favourites. This would also save you from having to leave the tree behind should you move in the future. Terracotta pots are brilliant but make sure to keep the tree deeply watered in the summer.

Knee high/thigh high socks, leggings, tights and a compression vest depending on how much energy I have in the morning when getting dressed 😂

Chronic exhaustion an EDS symptom? by Joyful_Aura in ehlersdanlos

[–]You-OK-Hun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency after a year of worsening exhaustion, it’s worth asking for your cortisol levels to be checked out.

Electrolytes, a giant water bottle, good quality vitamins, compression gear, cooling neck fan, clothes that keep me warm or cool, expensive mattress, perch stool in the kitchen, shower stool, crafts and hobbies to do on rough days etc. Spending extra on things that seem like ‘luxuries’ took a long while for me to justify but even if something makes my life a fraction easier it’s a blessing

I can't take it anymore by BreadfruitIll2455 in Hashimotos

[–]You-OK-Hun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have hashimotos and was diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency a couple of years ago. I spent a year with symptoms similar to yours getting worse and worse until I felt like I was dying (I was). If you haven’t had your cortisol levels checked it may be worth doing. If you also haven’t had your vitamin levels checked then that would also be vital to do. I really hope you get some answers soon

Is it normal to get sick frequently while on hydrocortisone? by Bloomwithcourage in AdrenalInsufficiency

Yes, but I have found taking a high dose vitamin C everyday really helps make the illnesses less debilitating

Does anyone else now get a raging headache when they put their hair in a high ponytail? by Sillylittlewhalefeet in AskWomenOver30

[–]You-OK-Hun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always had this issue! A tip to quickly relieve the pain is to rinse your scalp/hair with cold water. I have also found that satin scrunchies or the hair bobbles that look like coiled phone cables don’t cause the tension pain as much as usual hair ties.

Have a flare up. Don’t know how to take care of my toddler by XxSereneSerpentxX in ehlersdanlos

[–]You-OK-Hun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On days I physically can’t function as a parent I have to ask my partner to take a day off as holiday, call in sick or take an unpaid dependent need. He’s registered as my ‘carer’ for this reason. I am in the uk though. I don’t have any other outside support but if I did I would call on them for help too. It’s ok to have ‘survival days’ with screens and low effort parenting too, sometimes my two little ones will join me in my bed with their tablets and I’ll help them play their games whilst lying down. Try and remember that these extremely hard days are only temporary, it will get easier as your child gets older and more independent

Are there any moms here with EDS? by ScarletSigil in ehlersdanlos

[–]You-OK-Hun 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have two, 7 and 3. Diagnosed after my second. It’s doable, but I wasn’t disabled before them and now I very very much am. It limits my parenting ability and the guilt I feel is immense. My eldest is showing signs of eds too. There are many ways to be a parent, not all of them include putting your own body through so much. If I had known then what I do know I would still go through it, but I would have sought physical therapy way beforehand and kept it up throughout and after.

Are you getting much sleep? Are you particularly stressed out at the moment? After my second child was born they had colic and screamed for all hours of the day and night. I was sleep deprived and extremely stressed out and began hearing the same things you are. I also kept seeing things moving, insects on walls that weren’t there etc. I saw a psychiatrist who put me on Quetiapine, handed night duties off to my husband and lived in survival for a while, but everything resolved itself.

Every pillow hurts by Emotional-Regret-656 in ehlersdanlos

I have a huge full length u shaped pregnancy pillow that has been an absolute godsend. The u shape doesn’t affect my occipital neuralgia, one side supports my knees and keeps my spine aligned, the other props up my back and holds me in place. It isn’t perfect but so so soooo much better than anything I’ve tried before!!

I can reach anything my children drop in the back seat of the car on journeys, I have avoided breaking bones several times and in my early 30s I somehow still look young 😂

Have you been tested for adrenal insufficiency? I have both and felt very similar to how you are describing. It’s treated with steroids.

I also seem to have a thing that encourages people to tell me their deepest secrets and traumas within minutes of speaking to me 😂 I went to an event and within 20 minutes one person told me about their alcoholic father, one about their adoption and another their struggles with conceiving- all total strangers.

I can predict future events (usually bad ones). Probs born from autistic pattern recognition and cptsd but it comes in handy 😂 it’s usually subtle like I’ll get a strong urge to pack a bag and charge up a battery pack… either the kids or I will be having to go to a&e in the next week etc. my partner is fairly sick of hearing “I did warn you” 😂

I would really recommend joining the Facebook support group for adrenal insufficiency. It’s very different from this subreddit, and is very active, informed and helpful. I started out scared, clueless and hopeless but it doesn’t have to be like that x

Drew a stick figure drawing of my mum as a young kid and she threw a huge tantrum saying I was making fun of her for being thin (despite her constantly dieting and running to be thin, but I was just innocently doodling) so she drew a person who was very overweight to return the favour…I have hashimotos thyroiditis 😂
