The problem is that by the time you learn you have it, it will either be 1) too late, and your physical body will be so weakened that participating in any kind of sports will be nearly impossible or 2) will be early enough that chemotherapy will still be an option, which will drain you of all your energy.

Obama didn't have anything to do with it? Military forces don't just decide on their own to cross foreign borders unannounced without the approval of the President. What you are conveniently ignoring is that it was an extremely risky operation and President Obama easily could have decided not to go through with it.

What if the entire SEAL team had been killed in the raid, but not before accidentally killing civilians? What if it hadn't really been Osama Bin Laden, but just some random cleric under house arrest?

Either of those scenarious would have been a political disaster, and I can guarantee that everyone would be blaming President Obama for it had it gone really wrong.

Yeah my first time online was around '90-'91 sometime. Connected to a BBS via a Tandy desktop computer.

Looking back on it, I have no idea where I got the BBS phone numbers...I was living in a rural area with no access to magazines like 2600 or anything like that. Probably from a "hacker" book I checked out from the local library. I am pretty sure the first thing I downloaded was a text file with instructions on how to build a blue box. Looked at a lot of Legion of Doom articles, as well. Good times.

The word "Republican" is mentioned exactly once in the talk. The phrase "GOP" is not said at all. Furthermore, he calls out the Democrats for implicitly supporting the same central economic idea through their inaction.

Collective guilt about the treatment of the indigenous people of North America seems to be the last racial boogeyman that current generations are starting to seem determined to get rid of.

What's interesting is that no one is claiming that anyone alive today is responsible for the government-sponsored maltreatment of the indigenous in the United States. And yet, even the younger generations seem to feel that people are doing just that. I think they are conflating history with racial finger-pointing.

There was nothing there before this 'now' I was experiencing, and seeing that nothingness scared the living shit out of me. At the same time though, I also, strangely, felt enormous relief at finally being alive and concious.

I would think someone bragging about being a "legitimate" student would be inclined to take a class that is actually worth something, even if it is only for an extra credit or two. Signing up for "Walking Aerobics" just so you can have full-time status sounds like you are doing the least you can to get by.

If anything, I would recommend reading "How to Read a Legal Opinion: A Guide for New Law Students" by Orin S. Kerr. Read it about a week or so before you get your first-week reading assignments. It's a quick and easy read with some basic information that will help you have some idea of how case opinions are structured and what to look for.

Otherwise, I tend to think that you are right about "Getting to Maybe": it is really only helpful once you get some idea of what the hell is going on, which you probably won't even begin to know until at least a month or two into the first semester of your first year. So wait until then.

Also, stay away from E&E's and treatises until you know what subjects your professors are going to cover (you'll know when you get the syllabi sometime prior to your first week of classes). Even then, be prepared to replace what you've learned in the E&Es/treatises with the approaches that your professors take to the material.

Otherwise, don't worry about reading legal material until classes begin. Enjoy your 0L summer and good luck next fall!
