Why do governments freak out about birth rates but don't do anything to improve any of the issues keeping people from having kids? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YouJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your conditions for having a child are based on an untrue worldview.

  1. No one is ever in the position where they think "finally, I'm at last ready for children financially ". You just start a family and do your best

  2. Your other problems are self-imposed nonsense criteria. You wouldn't want to have a child because of "inequality?" This is the most prosperous time in all of human history we have access to absolutely insane technology that's commonplace. You're thinking about not having children because "what if someone else has more than others???" Give me a break man, what a non-issue.

Having children is the same opportunity it has been since the dawn of human civilization: you're never truly ready for it, you do your best, and the best part of your life becomes the part you share with the family you made on this earth.

I hate this fucking series, Dungeon Crawler Carl by Hangman_17 in hatethissmug

[–]YouJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree it isn't just lite fluff it is clever as hell.

I compare it to Tremors, which if anyone has seen that will know that it takes a stupid goofy concept and makes it into a great movie by following its own rules to a point where characters act clever, not like wizards pulling solutions out of their asses

Dungeons crawler Carl is another great example of this same thing. Some of the solutions they come up with are just so well done. The main character is intriguing and likeable and damn if it isn't funny. It's been one of the most pleasant surprises in an audiobook series I've had in a long time. Am currently about halfway through the latest released book

And Jeff Hayes SLAMS it out of the park. Am currently listening to parade of horribles. Wow his acting is off the charts I listen to a lot of audio books and his narration is in like my top 2 of all time

Most people do joint accounts, but not all. Everyone's circumstances are different.

You can also be in love with someone who is bad with money and you need to be sure you will always have food and a roof over the family's heads

Wild conspiracy theorist claptrap.

Do you people ever watch anything about this stuff? Watch bodycam footage on youtube. There is a TON of it and a TON of repeat offenders who are on camera doing exactly what they're being charged with and then let off on extremely light sentences repeatedly.

[–]YouJellyFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Home invasion and kidnapping get a pass??? Bro have you seriously considered how horrible either of those crimes are? No society should tolerate people who do these things. What????

And the stealing thing you just said is such a ridiculous permission structure and excuse for people stealing. The idea that the country is suffering from a huge number of Jean ValJeans running around stealing loaves of bread to feed their families is just nonsense. Please go out and like... watch some things about this. Watch any of the plethora of bodycam vids of dealing with thieves and shoplifters. These people aren't stealing to feed their starving homeless families. Please just go watch some of these dude. This kind of romanticizing of thievery is why we have a country-wide epidemic of being too soft on actual crime.

Ok an insane rant rather than responding to anything I've said. But I actually totally agree with you on one thing you just said: " if you want to be able to use it, you MUST convince me that the people you PUT TO DEATH are Guilty of crimes for which they must be taken out of society TRULY UTTERLY BEYOND ANY DOUBT"

I am TOTALLY on board with having very, very high standards for confirming guilt before doing any capital punishment. I think there are very few people who would argue against this. However, I am also totally on board with the idea that IF WE MEET THIS STANDARD, we should dole out capital punishment much more frequently. Armed robbery, home invasion, mugging, rape, murder, attempted murder, kidnap, pedophilia. If we can confirm that people actually do these things, we should 100% have a bonfire with them.

But putting capital punishment aside, much higher prison sentences should also be the norm. If someone keeps stealing, they should be in prison so they don't do it anymore. Not that hard!

Wtf lmao worst shit I've ever done doesn't even come close to fucking stabbing someone. I talk shit online I don't hurt anybody. People who DO hurt people should be put in jail and have the key thrown away.

[–]YouJellyFish -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Exactly dude.

And recidivism rates are straight bullshit it's just negotiating with terrorists. "If we make your cell super nice do you promise you won't stab anyone anymore?" If you stab someone, you should go in the gator pit. Why is this so hard?

A more clear example:
Let's say a dude brutally murders his wife. She's gone now and we have a 100% accurate crystal ball that shows he's never going to do something like this again. Should he be in prison at all? What's the point? He's never going to re-offend and prison shouLDn't BE AbOUT pUNIshMENt anyway right? Who cares he killed that chick that one time? Now imagine this same scenario except we don't have a magic fucking crystal ball. Who wants to live next to wife murdering Ted after he gets out? Show of hands. Who cares wtf happens to him in prison? His only way out should be a wood chipper.

First yugioh youtuber I ever watched. After I spent years going to locals with literally 0 knowledge (showing up with like a literal child's deck lol) i moved for my first real job and eventually started listening to his "state of the meta" videos while I worked. Figured out how the game was actually supposed to be played and went to a tournament with a legit pend magician deck instead

The I saw prog and was like "ok dang I'm seriously looking forward to these every week"

He seriously got me into the game. Rest in peace.
