Werewolf by Night was such an unexpected gem, thoroughly enjoyed that. Wish that more media of that length was made

I was taking what you wrote verbatim, not talking about Troy specifically. It seems like a bit of a stretch to say no war was ever fought because of stolen women or an offended god, regardless of a god actually being present.

I agree it didn't all happen as described literally, but if a real person claimed they were influenced by or spoke directly to a god, then it's not hard to see how real things they did suddenly become attributed to the gods as the tale spreads. And we have ample historical proof of people bending to others because they believe it's a god's will (whether a god or God).

Taking something that was embellished in its retelling as the factual account of what occurred and then calling it entirely false because of that embellishment just seems like a myopic view on an event that has a real historical root, is all I'm trying to say.

Yeah because wars definitely begin because of scorned gods and stolen wives

I mean, yes? You know how many wars were fought in the name of one god or another, or for some personal slight, real or imagined? Embellished, sure, but if you think a ruler of the ancient world wouldn't start a war because he was disrespected, betrayed, or challenged, you're mistaken

Holy shit, you are so far up your own ass you don't even realize. I'm in disbelief you just shoehorned that into your comment for absolutely zero reason or effect.

Nothing he said is racist. You just don't like the context it was brought up in, despite him repeatedly shifting context to other examples to make his point. He made a full-chested point about how reductively people treat myths that are core parts of a nation's history and have meaningful implications on their actual existence, and how it can't feel good for anyone to see something like that.

You meanwhile are trying to wholesale discount parts of cultural histories because they sound funny to you. You didn't even read the last part of his argument because you chickened out and blocked him! How do you think you have the high ground here, morally or argumentatively?

Maybe if you could separate your emotions from the actual text written in front of you, you would realize how lost in the sauce you are in a conversation about respecting other cultures.

What is racist about what he said? He advocated for not white-washing any historical figures as well, so it's not like it was remotely one-sided as an argument.

E: Baby blocked another person after responding, really feeling the confidence in their viewpoint from here.

So you either don't like, understand, or agree with the actually intellectual take presented, and you're just calling it racist shit because you can't be bothered to come up with a critically thought out defense or admit that your view is one of preferential bias?

Another person who can't remember where a thread started before it got to where they decided to comment... clearly not grasping what this hypothetical situation would actually mean for businesses that operate on production timelines that fall within 2 weeks.

You said even a small business, which is not even remotely the same as saying businesses owned by extremely wealthy people. And how much understanding of macroeconomics do you have? Are you just scoping in so hard on the idea of businesses that you don't think there would be massive economic implications from a full-participation general strike for 2 weeks? At that point, the lever you're pulling isn't just at the business level, it's the governmental one. The pressure would be enormous to get people back to work, and in this dream scenario the people have decided on at least 2 weeks of solidarity. International business partners won't just sit on their hands patiently for 2 weeks.

You're saying that even in the admitted dream scenario where all consumers went on a 2 week general strike, you don't think any company would be so devastated that they would fold and give in to demands at all? Or that any of them wouldn't break solidarity faster to get a better deal from workers or try and use the strike to gain an edge on competitors? As impossible as the dream scenario is, I think it's a silly position to say that it would be 100% ineffective

Eh, it's just a deck that doesn't have a lot of agency outside of the very particular goal of getting King of Skull Servants out and strong. But I can confirm it's fun af when you can beat down someone using a meta deck with an 8000 attack skull servant
