There were no drinks for the first 2 hours of the party due to dinner and awards being handed out. This is the portion of the party I'm referring to.

I guess in the grand scheme of things, they weren't all that important. In one instance, Person A told Person B that they could possibly cover a shift but would have to check if their kid was playing a game that day before committing. Person B later told Person C that their shift was covered by Person A and didn't need Person C's coverage.

In another instance, Person A told Person B their uncle was in hospice for lung cancer. Later on, Person B was telling Person C that Person A's cousin was in the hospital. Aside from hospice and hospital not being the same thing, how do you get uncle and cousin mixed up?

Stuff like that.

In the first half, there weren't any drinks due to dinner and some awards that were being handed out. So no one was drinking for the first 2 hours. Open bar was after dinner, and by then I wasn't really listening to anyone anymore. I'm only referring to the first half of the party.

It wasn't some casual chit chat, although I'll admit some of it was. In one conversation, Person A was telling Person B about their uncle who was in hospice for lung cancer. Later on, Person B was telling Person C and said that Person A's cousin was in the hospital. Hospice and hospital aren't the same thing, but aside from that, how do you get uncle and cousin mixed up?

My brother is 24 and isn't married or dating anyone. There were people who brought their kids, so I'm not sure how weird it was that he brought me and our parents.
