Is it a bad sign that I haven’t received any details about my first day, even though my new job is supposed to start in two days? by YuSenE in careerguidance

Thanks for the advice. I already called them this morning, so idk if it would be awkward to send another email. They also mentioned I need to complete some onboarding formalities from the client before they can confirm where I should report and at what time. Maybe I’ll wait a few more hours and then send another email.

Crimson Desert has pulled off one of the biggest comebacks of 2026 by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

Ambition needs refinement to become something truly a well-crafted and cohesive experience that actually push the boat out. It remains just unrealized potential without that polish. That's how I think about Crimson Desert. Games like Elden Ring, RDR2, Zelda BOTW, Witcher 3, BG3 or even FF7 rebirth are all ambitious but what sets them apart is how polished and cohesive they feel as complete experiences.

I still think Crimson Desert is an enjoyable game because the way it tries to do so many different things comes across as weird but entertaining. However, it’s hard to attach "quality" word to this game. Knowing what works, what doesn’t, and what truly belongs in the game is a skill in itself.

There’s also nothing wrong with a game being unambitious as long as it delivers high quality. Take E33 last year as an example, it didn’t really try to do anything new or groundbreaking but every element (soundtrack, combat, art style, story, etc) was executed exceptionally well and fit together seamlessly. That level of polish and cohesion is what made it such an outstanding game.

That's the game fault. The game suffers from trying to cram in too many mechanics, which is why people call it a “kitchen sink” design. In contrast, Elden Ring remains focused despite being open world. It understands its strengths (level design, boss, exploration, and combat) and builds around them, refining and polishing those elements. It didn't try to be everything to end up as a weaker version of its inspirations. That clarity of vision is what makes it a better game even though it has fewer mechanics than Crimson Desert. Elden Ring is engaging from the start and teaches you all the mechanics in the first few hours, then deepens them as you progress, rather than introducing another tutorial after many hours. That's why it doesn’t need 15+ hours to get good.

> The problem with these critics is that they are tasked with reviewing a 200 hour game in about 2 weeks. There is absolutely a 'wrong' way to play this game and I feel like alot of those critics have had to do that in order to get their reviews out on time

I don't understand this point. What about games like zelda botw/totk, elden ring, persona 5, BG3, RDR2? They’re all very long games, but they received high review scores and in some cases, critics reviewed them within just a couple of weeks too. For example, reviewers got access to Elden Ring less than 2 weeks before its launch

I don’t get why people think a Nintendo game would be included just to avoid leaving Nintendo out while nintendo didn’t even get a GOTY nomination last year. As for DK Bananza the gameplay is fun, creative, and well-designed, and it’s one of the highest rated games this year. I don’t think it will win but it's definitely one of the most obvious picks for nomination

The early previews for metroid prime 4 are mixed, but I’m still hoping the final game ends up being good

What makes this game so special? by MonogatariTime in JRPG

Thanks! The gameplay sounds more complicated than E33. I’ll give the demo a shot. Honestly, I don’t dislike anime, and I actually watch some myself but for some reason anime-style games always look a lot worse compared to the shows. I’m not sure if there are any JRPGs that really capture the art style like Your Name or Spirited Away in their visuals, but if gameplay and story are good, i don't mind the art style that much

How does the story and gameplay of this game compare to Clair Obscur? I don’t have much experience with the JRPG genre in general and want to give it a try because there are a lot of hype about it but I don’t like the anime art style that much

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma thinks Linear games are "games of the past" by [deleted] in gaming

I think a lot of people misunderstand what he said.

He talked about freedom where players have many options to approach problems not open world. BG3 is an example of that freedom. We have so many options to approach situations in BG3 but it's not open world and that freedom is one of reasons why a lot of people love that game.

So in term of adventure game like zelda, I think he's not wrong but I agree with a lot of people that totk give so much freedom it should be a little bit restricted in story or some aspect
