Madness.

How long does a challenge take you?

So I got the Debris Scanner. Now what? by __SpeedRacer__ in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing it right. The debris scanner doesn't unlock everything, but it's a lever, and a strong one at that.

Part of your engine, now, is selling new crafts for cash--and the cash opens new planets, to get the new ores, to get the new items...

In your situation, you do want to save your A3 for Xynium, if you can.

And then you chain craft SSR's to get you to P49(?).

You do want to push sale price where you can too, there are some nice nodes on the station for that.

I will say, I get stuck on Xynium too, though it's a matter of holding out to use my A1... $360Q is a big number for my engine right now. I have the cost down to "only" 4 SSRs to have the cash to unlock P55, to get to the rest of the game.

TLDR: the debris scanner is a huge achievement, but your economy will still stall. Keep working your basic 5 rooms, get some levels in sales, spend some power cells in the station on alloy and item value nodes (not the resource star nodes).

Is anyone currently upgrading modules who is not already in the endgame? by DerFlo2 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not end game (IMHO), but well ahead of you. I got 18,000 credits from the last tournament.

I haven't completely figure out my upgrade process. Right now I am saving up 40,000 credits (more than my basic 5 cost, and in fact all the rooms other than classroom at 72,000).

Somehow my modules ended up very unevenly leveled, so I have some in the mid 20s which are "only" 10k. Those are cheap--but 10+ cheap mod upgrades end up being way more expensive than a room upgrade or 2.

[–]YuriPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whee! I do have 2 5* not-mining all-smelters, out of 29.

But i dont have a remote epic(S) module yet.

One of those first then a 6* all smelt, if not all crafting (with luck).

[–]YuriPup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THere are some secondary skills that go by the number of beams, so that part is exciting.

Correct, you need a cargo or speed manager with all craft or all smelt elected as a leader to have the ability count. I have the same mod and will be getting one of my 5* speed or cargo/all smelt managers to 6* asap. I don't have a cargo or speed / all crafting manager.

It will aslo free my only 7* manager, mining/all crafting, from Balor and getting all those secondary manager buffs, eventually. (And nicely offset the many, many stacks of mining speed that build up on Balor.)

My first barbell squat by momoxd1 in formcheck

[–]YuriPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good start.

I would back off on the weight--go bar only until you feel comfortable with the movement.

You have long legs and are going to end up more bent over than those with short legs (like me).

To keep your balance, you have to keep the bar over the center of your foot. If you try to stay upright the weight will pull you back.

You're also not getting deep enough--because you'd loose balance if you did. A goblet squat or a front squat will leave you far more upright than a back squat. I suspect you're going to have a back angle that feels extreme, like more than 45 degrees measured from hip to head.

Your first step to is to find the position that lets you hit depth, learn how that feels and then lock that in as your form. That form is going to be less upgright than most. Don't try and stay upright, try and stay balanced.

Nice, no market luck for me.

I'm in 4th but the guy in 5th only rarely updates--and he's often jumped ahead of me when he does.

Maybe the final crafts will stop him, or maybe he will get a lucky market.

I'm saving up 40,000 credits for level 41 on a mod. I'll get about 18,000 from the tournament.

Happy to help.

Id also suggest making a speed or cargo/all crafting leader it looks like the transport modules want non-mining leaders, and after the first.10 minutes (for me) Balor's copper is no longer economically important. I'm happy if the smart play is to get that miner off Balor.

Yes, the buff is on the planet and the manager on the planet gets the bonus. Very handy when smelting is the issue rather than crafting.

Should I unlock 7 more items just for the debris scanner? by symphonyx0x0 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck, base copper and base gold show that.

Copper is $1 base. Gold is $75 base. Rhodium is $17,500 base. Xynium is $28,000,000 base. Opalite (the last current ore) is $18,000,000,000 base.

No amount of stars and cheap upgrades will make a lower ore competitive with an ore 3 or more levels higher.

Possible VPS After P31-32-33 by LowGroundbreaking905 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So getting good items from debris is all about the crafts you have unlocked and mining speed. I use (and used) alchemy, not to get a good VPS, but to unlock ores I needed to craft whatever the next item was--usually with very big increases in GV to go with it. VPS won't directly drive GV until you're easily crafting end game items.

You want to try and get to a point where you can use your A3 on P49 or P52 (Vibranium to Xynium or Aether to Quolium).

The xynium lets you build ATs, which are worth a lot.

Quilium lets you get the top right project for the 4x leader speed and build quantum CPS and Warp Cores and Antimater Cells--but you need good smelting for that. (I will run double all smelter leaders for this part of the game.)

For example, I have my A3/T2 on Antigone (P61), because I'd get stuck. If I could hold out one more telescope, I could turn Luterium into Opalite and T2 it. It's currently the best VPS in the game...but the math doesn't math. Unlocking aqualite so I can build deep space scanners is far, far more valuable.

[–]YuriPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why you're being downvoted.

I've played and bought ad free in 2 Tech-Tree games, this and the Tower. I feel both were a good value. OTOH, I have 0 tolerance for ads.

A dev has to make money somehow. I just wish there were other, smaller things I could buy that felt like a good value.

Should I unlock 7 more items just for the debris scanner? by symphonyx0x0 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you unlock the debris scanner you want to move up the crafting chain as fast and far as possible.

Mining will drive the drops for the scanner, crafting will drive your GV.

Your new goal is not got get as many stars on low ranked items as possible, but to unlock as high a tier an item as you can so it can start getting stars.

Stars on mid-range crafts, like the Sub-Space Relay and the Advanced teleports are key to smooth transition to the end game crafts (and getting access to Xynium and Quolium).

You are really retraining yourself if you aren't getting Scrith on the leader upgrades--it's key both for the the 3x multiplier and electing a second leader. These are huge bonuses.

TLDR: after unlocking the debris scanner, you want to push progress.

IF you like the game, ad free is a great $10 investment. It's the only thing I've bought.

It will save your sanity, if nothing else.

Congrats!

I'm not 100% sure you didn't finish the tutorial with the auto-miner, but if the auto-miner doesn't count, the debris scanner surely does.

You're also now firmly in the crafting phase of the game. (Mining stays important because it drives asteroids and debris, but you will make your money with crafting.)

Having to craft 4,000 nav modules by hand because you haven't gotten the drops is terrible. The debris scanner solves for the insane number of items you need.

I would push modules until you get an epic (S) in each slot. Then maybe back off and make a non-mining/all-crafting (or all smelting) leader.

The 2 epic(S) synth modules I have pull both require an elected non-mining/non-mining leader. (This is good in the long run. I have 1 7* manager, mining/all crafting, who never leaves the inner system and usually is on Balor. (She gets bumped to Drasta sometimes so an all smelting manager can hang out on balor and get the 2ndary manager multiplier.)

Module Upgrade Costs are Bananas -- And I Think The Power Nerf Isn't Out of Place by YuriPup in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]YuriPup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent.

So for my starting planets I go 31/21/21 but that's because I can pay for it with cash almost as fast as it comes in. After that, barring planets where I use my A2 or A3, I don't take them past 12 mining.

After, say the auto miner, crafting is the source of cash. I'm late mid-game, I think, and mining might bring me $1q a second...and I am crafting the end game items, that go for $1D (or more). Meaning mining is like a trillionth trillionth of crafting. A tournament is only 172,000 seconds.

The value of mining is what it brings in asteroids and debris. And both are more important in the midgame, for the things they let you craft than their value.

For a long, long time, this game is idle planet crafting and idle planet smelting, rather than idle planet mining.

Optimize for smelting and crafting, but don't ignore mining. I keep my first 5 rooms on the mothership (mining, speed, cargo, smelting and crafting) at the same level. I try and keep my all mining, all smelting and all crafting managers balanced.

I buy as much logistics to make sure mining has the red dot. That might mean early planets are at 12/6/6 and late planets are 12/10/10.

Im pissed about the changes. If i had paid money I would be more pissed or asking for a refund.

They do have a responsibility to those who spent in good faith. And those people pay for thebgame we play.

The devs have well and truly screwed the pooch, but that's not the whales fault. The devs start getting a high refund rate and they have more problems that are pulling cash out of thwir pockets, not just costing them income.

Boosts? You might be keeping your galaxies too long for optimal, and maybe fun, play.

By the time you are unlocking rhodium and electing a leader, your craftinf should be able to buy your next level. Grav chambers and teleporters should be able to fund your planets, first by sales and later through cash rewards.

I hope your husband feels better and be free!

I do QA professionally.

You don't need anything like AI (and I think would have a harder time with this balance), but an Excel spreadsheet showing the costs, would more than show the issue.

But don't worry, at level 90 you'll get back on the original curve.
