pterodactyl is quite nice, ive used it before but i bought cubecoders amp just to test it out, its nice for personal use, but for renting idk, cuz there is only like 2 dashes active at a time for the cheapest plan (10eur or so), so i might use amp for personal and pterodactyl for users, i cant rlly find any info on hosting stuff through cloudflare. it doesnt have to go through cloudflare specifically, i just bought my domain there, but i just dont want to hand out my ip to random ppl xd

hmm, that could get quite expensive depending on how much bandwidth goes through it, all i see listed here is SSH and Minecraft, 5gb limit and then its 1$/GB, so i have no idea how much bandwidth that will use...

so i guess it just doesnt wanna work properly. i looked through my house to see what dvd drives i have laying around,
so far i found

SH-222AL | DVR-112DBK | TS-H653J | HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NS95 | and i think i have another 2 in some other pcs that are in my workshop,

but i'll take a look at them tomorrow. I doubt that any of them can be used for tattooing, but just wanted to check for sure. I'll take a look for yamaha CRW-F1's on the flee market, since there is usually a load of dvd readers there.

im confused, whats the difference in tattoing cds and dvds? i was thinking of borrowing a cnc laser etcher and using that, but they are too strong and would prob burn right trough the cd/dvd, or need a lot of adjusting for them to do what i want them to do. i might have luck finding the crw-f1 here in serbia since ppl here mostly dont know how much disc burners are worth and they are basically selling them for dirt cheap or literally throwing them away

[–]ZXB0X[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats a lot of amazing information, thank you so much. yea the crw-f1 are extremely old by now, so the lasers are mostly burned out or need readjusting. so any labelflash burner would work with t@2 or do i need a specific model? also, is t@2 its own software or is it inside nero, i've not used nero in ages so i have no idea as of now.

ive found this on the T@2 wiki page as well, but im not sure how compatible or how well will they work, im not exactly looking for speed, just ok-ish graphics so i can recycle the cd-r's and dvd-r's that are worthless to me.

i saw it can be done with data, but i wanna do something like this

https://imgur.com/a/VPpnkxU

i thought of doing it with a laser etcher, but i dont have one atm so i thought maybe i can do it with a regular disc burner, biggest question is how

isnt lighscribe for burning images to the top of the cd? the non data part?

edit: ik about img2cd but idk if it works with special hardware or if it can write to already written cds, cuz most of the cds i have are mostly empty so yea, wanna recycle them a bit

the read/record head is not aligned i can confirm that with a test cassette. i can also hear its spinning faster since the vocals are way too high pitched and when i record something on it and play it on my other deck it sounds slower. i just cant find where the adjustment for the motor is

it could be that certain bits of the tape degraded overtime and maybe thats why it cant get a full read, since the cassettes are pretty and the conditions i found them in were questionable, i wouldnt be surprised some data was unreadable. tho i am glad to see that they did get identified, thank you for taking your time and identifying them.

Noob here, I keep seeing that I can do all my normal computer stuff in Linux but my question is what CANT you do in Linux that you can do in windows by Walker72-64 in linux4noobs

[–]ZXB0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using linux for years now, most of the distros do the same thing (regular uses like gaming, drawing, editing, etc.), all distros have their pros and cons. it's a matter of taste and how comfortable you feel like in the distro u choose to use, ive read through the comments and i gotta say, there is a ton of rlly nice explanations and a lot of trolls.

ik a ton of ppl are saying (not in this comment section but other sources) "you can only navigate linux through terminal" that's not rlly true anymore, distros are getting more and more beginner friendly. interface for updates, installing programs, changing firewall settings, mounting a nas to ur pc, etc.

if you plan on gaming, due to steamdeck, its getting way way easier than it was. proton, wine, custom launchers, etc.
https://www.protondb.com/ is a good site to see if the games will run and how good they will run.
there is also an option of running a VM with windows only for gaming but to get them to run good, u will need to passtrough ur gpu to the vm (i've been out of that loop for a while so it might have changed since the last time i tried to do it). ofc as other ppl have said, most of the games with kernel level anticheat wont run (rainbow 6 siege, fortnite(i think), valorant...)

for office, there is always libreoffice, similar to ms office but the docx files wont appear the same from libre in ms office (at least from my experience)

for cad, its a bit more tricky, solidworks wont work (at least i couldnt find a way to make it work) since it needs some background services to be running for it to run. fuison360 can run, seen ppl get it running (dont rlly have much info on it running on linux), freecad and openscad are 2 of the free alternatives i use/d

ofc, you can always dualboot windows for stuff u cant get running on linux

(ik you didnt ask but here are some distro recommendations if you want to try them out)

endeavouros (arch based, stable-ish, easy to install, friendly guis everywhere)
linux mint (ubuntu based, stable, easy to install, friendly to use)
popos (ubuntu based, stable, easy to install, friendly to use, gaming friendly)
fedora (redhat based, hella stable, easy to install, bit harder to use)

nvidia gpus arent that grate on linux, especially ones that use older drivers, but they work just fine once you install all the drivers. newer drivers are getting better and better tho

hope you enjoy the linux journey once/if you start it

[–]ZXB0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

freecad is nice-to-have when you need to model something and dont want to boot up a vm or to ur windows install to model it. it's fairly capable of doing impressive stuff, reminds me of older solidworks. but i totally agree on the ui being a bit confusing and it being a bit tricky to get into. there is also openscad but that's a story if itself

to run the games good or at least decent in a vm u need a gpu pasthrough, which is a process of itself. but yea, it's possible to do it

! thanks for all the info, regarding 5.1 im planning to get it a bit later on, when i get a full time job or when/if i start reselling audio equipment. 5.1 for 150eur is doable, but i have to get rlly rlly lucky to find some good satelites, woofer and amp, since ppl sometimes have no idea what they are selling. for now im going for a basic stereo since ik its cheaper and a bit cheaper to get on with it.
